Spoiling for a fight.
First proper meeting.
I’ve needed to rest my hand (It’s still funky from that one time, if anyone remembers it...art school will burn ya out). Not drawing makes me crazy, though, so here’s some landscapes I did with my left(off) hand instead!
“Emerging Artists” Zine Idea/interest check??
Hey there Zine community. I’m an artist that has recently gotten interested in applying as an artist for zines but, due to sheer amount of people and talent in the community, I haven’t had much luck yet, even after applying for several zines.
And, it occurred to me that it’s likely there are tons of artists out there who probably experience the same thing.
This gave me an idea for a new kind of zine that I personally haven’t seen anyone do yet (or at least not recently) - an “emerging artists” zine, specifically for those artists who have been wanting to be involved in a zine, but for whatever reason they never make the cut.
With so many artists applying for zines, it’s inevitable that artists who are still very talented will get rejected. It’s discouraging for sure. I want to give those emerging artists a chance.
A few important points of the zine:
1) Only artists who have never been involved in a zine may apply.
2) Preferably I’d looking for artists who don’t have a big following, lets say artists with less than 1,000 followers (not set in stone I’m just spitballing here). I want to give those talented people who fall under the radar the exposure they deserve.
3) This would be a charity zine with the profits going towards a charity either agreed by the artists, or a specific one chosen by me and/or mods (if this gets enough interest for more mods to be involved). A few charities I have in mind:
Pencils of Promise | a charity that builds schools and funds education in countries such as Nicaragua and Ghana.
The Dreaming Zebra Foundation | Helping provide art supplies to children and encouraging self expression through art.
World Wildlife Fund | Working to conserve animals and animal habitats around the world.
These are just a few suggestions. I’m open to other possibilities - I’m pretty naive about what charities there are out there tbh.
4) This would be an original art zine centered around a specific theme that I have not yet decided (a few ideas: self portraits, nature, pets, the possibilities are endless).
5) Originally I was thinking it would just be a digital PDF zine but if there’s enough interest, I’d love to figure out how to get physical zines made!
Please like or reblog this post if you would have any interest in this kind of zine!

A commission piece, based on an original story by the commissioner. Comic pages for original stories are hands down my favorite kind of work.
Abarallis never made ‘being straightforward’ a priority, it’s become force of habit really.
