It also made me want to read the secret history. Which I’m currently doing and I love it so far.

I was actually wondering, with the exception of Tom, who does every character of yours represent from the book? Barty is Richard but everyone else? And what was that made you decide which character of yours would match which character from the book?

I keep reading the book and trying to find parallels between your work and the book, that’s how deep it affected me.

i actually dont remember why i decided to write terrible things as a the secret history au. LMAO. i know i read tsh in august of 2023, but terrible things didn’t start existing until december of that year, when saltburn came out. the end of tt is very saltburn coded, and i love it sooo much. i just think the 2 things mixed in my head and... that's how terrible things was created? and that's also why tt characters and tsh characters are very different.

BUT! i remember i did a whole study on my old blog on how the rosier twins parallel the macaulay twins 💔💔 and now it's lost forever. pandora is my special girl, but i tried to make her camilla. only girl in a group of boys, and also a misunderstood victim. i love that, just like camilla, in the end we see how she's not what richard (barty) thought she was AT ALL. and there's also everything with charles going on, but i dont want to spoiler :P

evan is a mix of henry and charles for me. he's cold and has a weird relationship with his professor, like henry. but again, very charles-like in everything he has going on with his twin sister. even if it's a little forced. evan has his own, disgusting little vibes. i just wanted him to feel like someone who could belong in tsh.

no bunny in this story, but i think regulus is a bitttt francis. francis is a very selfish character. he doesn't care about others at all. and even though regulus isn't as flashy as francis, he's just as selfish as him. he knows what's happening to evan, pandora, and barty throughout the story, but he doesn't really do anything to change things. he just acts like he's a victim too, and so conveniently forgets that he can speak and help.

as a slytherin barty truther, can i disagree by saying that rawenclaw isn't the home of simply smart people, but of wise, creative, curious students? anyone can be good at school in any house (see hermione), but ravenclaw is something more: they look for the why behind things (rather than simply studying them), they are extremely themselves in a way that may even seem strange to others, they're sooooo focused on their seeking-the-truth mission.

barty wasn't any of those things. he was simply a smart student. by a quick google search, slytherin's most important characteristics are: ambition, resourcefulness and cunning. who was more all of these things than barty, who (1) was just disgusted by the idea of being average (that's why the owls); (2) always seemed to have things go his way, somehow; (3) fooled dumbledore himself while he was impersonating moody. he was a clever, evil boy.

if you take all the characteristics of ravenclaw and bring them to the negative extreme, you get odysseus. if you do the same thing with slytherin... well, you get barty.
