Lifeless ~ Katelina & Damian
What: Katelina's death When: Samhain Who: Katelina Araya & Damian Price
Katelina: Katelina had gone for a run. She always went for a run when things got strange in the town, it helped her connect with her wolf, helped her feel at peace, less angry, less... uncontrollable. But something that night felt different as she ran barefoot through the forest. She felt like something was following her, like she was being watched, but her ears and nose picked up no one at all. It wasn't until she tripped over a log that Katelina was no longer in her body. As if she were pushed out of her own being, Kat felt herself rise from the body of a dark skinned woman as the body looked around. It wasn't something she could explain, but whoever was inside her body had no plans on leaving anytime soon.... It was the night of Samhain and the spirits had waited all year for this night, the night where they could be alive again with the help of a host. One particular spirit, the spirit of a dead wolf found herself following a brown colored girl running through the forest, waiting for just the right time to push herself in and oust the girl's soul. It happened when she tripped and the spirit slipped in between the cracks, feeling herself revive as life flowed through her. She was finally back.
Damian: While the hope of maintaining his cover of mild mannered and meek Damian was still his main priority, he couldn't in good conscience keep himself indoors on what he knew to be one of the deadlier holidays of the year. While the official name was lost on him, as he was never the one to remember the many names witches had for 'spiritual' days, he knew enough to know that he was needed on such a day. It was a pagan holiday. If he went out and didn't find something he'd be surprised. Fingers threaded through the knuckles of his highly valued AA knuckle knife he kept on his right hip, with his twin desert eagles respectfully tucked into his left thigh holster and shoulder holster, he was more than confident he had enough to deal with anyone he came across tonight. With a low hanging jacket to cover all three weapons, he strolled through the woods, the very picture of a man just patrolling the area around his home and not that of a man looking to slice open the nearest threat from ear to ear. Whistling a version of 'this is Halloween' as he moved, Damian rounding a nearest tree glanced around, his mixed colored eyes taking in the form of the wolf as she ran through the woods. Trailing behind her, sure to keep his distance as he watched her, through he was suspicious of everyone he came across he wasn't paranoid enough to believe every creature he came across was supernatural. Sometimes, what looked to be a case was just a human doing a stupid thing. He was more than willing to give this woman the benefit of the doubt. Trailing but a few paces behind her as she seemingly tripped, Damian chuckling under his breath for a brief moment as she went down, hurried to her side, sure to wipe the grin off his face as he approached her from behind. “Hey.” He greeted her, bending over slightly to offer her his hand. “Nasty spill there, darling. You alright?”
Katelina: She took a moment to familiarize herself with the body, but before she could shift back into the wolf form, a man approached her from almost nowhere. A human, the wolf spirit could smell. "Just a bit. What are you doing here? It's an awfully dangerous night to be out," she ventured with a sly smile. She had nothing to lose, this wasn't her body and her life had long ago exhausted. But first, she would find out how resilient this host was. Wasting no time, the spirit shifted in front of the rugged man into a black wolf two times his height and size. She growled, baring her teeth at him.
Damian: Pulling his hand back to his side as his friendly greeting was rudely met with silence, Damian plastering on a fake smile simply kept eye contact with the woman as her thoughts seemed to run. “You alright?” He questioned again, grip instinctively tightening around his knife as she finally started speaking. “I live out here and uh, big guy. Think I can handle myself.” He replied, the smile on his face turning into a genuine one as she started to shift. Gaze shifting as her body expanded in size, Damian staring unafraid into the eyes of the now hulking wolf pulled his knife free from it's sheath. “Bad puppy. Sit, darling. Heel.” He joked, wanting to anger the beast as the edge of his blade glinted in the moon light. “Lets not get hasty, bitch and I mean bitch with the utmost respect.” He quipped, his foot shifting back as he shifted into a more defensive stance.
Katelina: She let out a threatening growl that seemed to rumble through the forest. So he was a hunter, that surprised the wolf more than anything as she realized she had been dead for many centuries.. Back when there were no hunters of any kind. The knife looked like it was forged of silver, so she took a mental note to back herself away from it before pulling back into the darkness of the shadows. She lurked there for a few moments moving around him silently. He seemed to be attuned, knowing exactly where she was no matter where she moved, so she decided to tackle him quickly and charged at his ankles, sweeping him from his feet.
Damian: Matching her growl with his own, though it lacked the depth and was very much human, it was still as fear inducing as hers was. “Come on, puppy. Heel for daddy.” He taunted, his voice taking on a more gravelly tone as the werewolf took to the shadows to try and conceal herself. No slouch at his job, though she blended in damn near perfectly with the dark, Damian was still able to make out the outline of her very large frame and track her movement as she twisted and turned 'round him. Step by step he followed her till she pounced at him, her large oversize paws sweeping him off his feet and causing him to fall to the floor with a loud resounding thud. Knowing the beast was in a more favorable position above him, Damian swallowing down every urge and want he had to taunt the beast, grew serious as he reached for the beast's eyes. Wearing gloves coated with his own special brand of both vervain/wolfsbane he aimed to shove his fingers into the beasts eyes in order to blind it so that he could then use the distraction it gave him to shove his blade into the nape of it's neck.
Katelina: The wolf wasn't prepared for the filthy trick he had in store for her as he gauged at her eyes. Something coated the fabric and immediately the wolf felt the burning sensation erupt. Howling fiercely from all the pain she backed away just a moment unable to gain back her vision while she nipped and snapped blindly at him. This wasn't a fight she thought she would lose, but the wolf spirit already was ready to move on to the next body she could find. So she let the body stand for a moment, just long enough for the human to finish his deed
Damian: Blade missing the beasts neck by mere inches, he cursed under his breath as he rose to his feet. Keeping his distance as the wolf snapped blindly in his general direction before falling still, Damian wasn't stupid enough to not see it for what it was, however killing a beast if not easy was still killing a beast and riding the world of them. Taking a step forward and instantly closing the gap between the two of them, he slid the edge of his blade across the beasts throat taking care to sidestep out of the way so that the small spray of blood that followed would miss him. Grabbing at the wolf's neck he maneuvered the beast to the ground before swinging it down to decapitate the wolf. The deed done, Damian sucking at his teeth kicked up some dirt on the grisly scene before him. He could bury her, give her at the very least some pride in death but giving beasts anything even in death wasn't his thing. Whatever other beasts laid in hiding would pick apart her corpse and if not then they were two far out for her body to be found accidentally. By time someone did come across her, his scent would be long gone and that was the only thing he cared about. Kicking up a bit more dirt so that his blood stained shoes would be covered, he turned on heel and headed home.
Katelina: In the last seconds of life, the soul of the wolf freed itself, leaving the body of a she-wolf to the hands of the hunter. It was only a second, but as the blood splattered staining the sacred Earth, Katelina was pushed back into her own body. Her eyes appeared once again for the last time, before closing forever.
