Updates, Updates, Updates!
Hi all!
So my Disney College Program experience will be starting a few days earlier than my check-in date on August 18th!
First, my friend and soon-to-be roommate Katie will drive from Boston to my house. Then, the next morning we'll head to Virginia where we'll take the Amtrak auto train to Florida. Arriving in Florida, we're staying at a hotel, meeting our other roommates, and then checking in that Monday
I'm so exhilarated and terrified at the same time. I'm officially and semi-permanently going to be moving to Florida, and I'm completely on my own. It's scary to think after all these years I'm done with school, but I'm so excited for the future!!
Are you doing an DCP? Are you packing and getting ready? Are you there yet? Let's chat! :D

Hi friends! So eight of my friends and I all decided to make a DISNEY COLLAB CHANNEL called THOSEDISNEYKIDS14! We're going to be vlogging before, during, and after our disney college programs! Here is my intro video from the first week, and if you like it check out the others as well!

As it's my final day of college classes EVER, I thought it would be super appropriate to post Max and Goofy in college together! :)
Accepted!! ...... For A College Program!!!
Hi all! So I was accepted for a Disney College Program as a Character Attendant for Fall 2014! I'm excited to be in the entertainment world, but I'm a little sad about the PI's.
I am still "In Progress" for a few PI's, but I've gotten ready for the "No Longer In Consideration" emails to happen. I'm fortunate enough to have one more chance to apply this fall for PI's, and maybe that will be the time for me to be a Professional Intern!
I believe everything happens for a reason, and it's my time to go to Florida....just not my time for a PI just yet!
So this blog will now be about my CP experience and applying to a PI again!
So here we go! :D
8 Things To Do While You Wait For DCP or PI Acceptances!
- Watch your favorite Disney movie! Nothing like Ben&Jerry’s and Tangled on a Friday night! - Go to the gym. Working out can bring energy and positive thinking! - Try a new fitness class. Zumba anyone? - Make plans with friends. FroYo tastes better while laughing. - Go on an adventure! Whether it be a hike, going to the beach, driving to a new place, or even trying a new restaurant: Just trying something new and being daring can be a great experience! - Volunteer! If you’re interested in VoluntEAR-ing during your program, might as well get some practice in now! - Student employment. Gain great skills in communication and job experience by applying for jobs at your school or university. Many universities have work-study programs as well! You’ll start saving up for your DCP deposit while also learning on the job! - Trick yourself into checking your dashboard only once a day. Buy yourself a bag of your favorite wrapped candies (i.e. Hershey’s kisses) and treat yourself with one every day you don’t check more than once! So keep your chin up and live the best life you can as you patiently wait for acceptances to happen!
In Progress, In Submission, NLIC'd...What Does It All Mean?
Hi all!
So for both Professional Internships as well as the College Program, Disney has a nifty part of their career site called "My Dashboard". On this dashboard, you can see all the jobs you've applied to as well as the status of each job. When you submit for a job, and the application as been received, it says "In Submission". When it is being looked at, it says "In Progress". If you've been denied for the position, it says "No Longer in Consideration" or NLIC. For the college program, if they can't give you an answer in the 2-3 week time period after your phone interview, you become "Pending" and have to wait longer for a response.
I just went from In Submission to In Progress on one of the Professional Internships I wanted, which is very, very exciting! One other PI is "in progress" and the rest are "In Submission". I'm also In Progress on my College Program application as well. So we'll see what happens!
If anyone is applying, good luck! break a leg! And smile! We'll all get through this together!
Cover Letters, Resumes, and Interviews...Oh My!
Applying for the Professional Internships (PI's) felt a LOT more stressful than applying for a College Program, because instead of a simple application, PI's also ask for a bit more information! This includes a Cover Letter and a Resume. During my College Program, I learned in my Marketing You class how to construct a Cover Letter, so I was able to use that letter to create CL's for each of the jobs I was applying to. For a resume, I used the Career Services offered at my school as well as my Marketing You worksheets to try and create a pretty swell resume. Also, I had some of my friends look it over, because they have actual jobs which is awesome, and I took their feedback into consideration. Luckily, I was able to get an interview, and it lasted about 45 minutes. At first it focused on my Disney experience as well as only a certain few PI's, then I began to stretch examples into some of my previous work experience as well as mentioning the other PI's. Then, once I mentions said PI's, the interviewer started asking me more follow-up questions. Overall I think it went pretty well! But we'll just have to wait and see! If you've applied for any PI's, good luck on your interview and I hope you get your dream PI!! <3
About Me!
So I thought since I'm starting this blog I'd tell you a wee bit about myself!
I'm a senior in college in my final semester studying English!
My favorite things are TOMS shoes, Starbucks Strawberry Smoothies, Planet Fitness Purple Pens, Zumba, and knowing no matter how many times Fall Out Boy goes on hiatus, they will always be back a few years later.
I've done two Walt Disney World College Programs: Spring 2012 at the Tomorrowland Speedway and Fall 2013 at The World Famous Jungle Cruise (and for a few months the Jingle Cruise), The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Swiss Family Treehouse, and The Enchanted Tiki Room.
I love smiling, adventures, and positivity!
My big dream is to plan weddings, start a charity for children, and make the world a better place!
Here we go! 2/11/14
Hi everyone! My name is Kate, and I'm graduating from college this May! To me, graduating is a scary though! Graduation. Moving On. Not going to school anymore. Starting to pay back student loans. Brand new adventures. What did I decide to do? Well, I love Disney, I've done two Disney College Programs, and I'm passionate about helping people. So I've applied for multiple Disney Professional Internships as well as a Disney College Program as a backup! I'm so excited for all the possibilities! Come follow me on my journey! :)
