Today is Tuesday, May 26th, 2015, and it's 1:03AM in #Arizona Nine years ago today, I went to #campdelcorazon for the first time in my life. I remember my going to #PhoenixChildrensHospital for a sixth month check-up that Spring, and a nurse was telling me about a place that was new. I didn't fully understand everything, but I soon would. I would soon make new friends, who also had #congenitalheartdefects. I soon would go on an airplane, without my Mom and Dad. I would soon sleep in a cabin near Malibu, #California with #strangers who would sin become friends. I would soon meet other people, who understand what it's like to be #misunderstood during gym class, for sitting out. #chdprobs I would soon discover the art of dancing, and even if you don't know the song, #dance anyway! I would soon discover that I'm not the only person who takes daily medication that isn't for a cold. I would soon discover that climbing a rock wall looks hard from the bottom, but if you keep going, you'll succeed, and reach the top. #truth #writingrocks 😉 You know what? That's life. Giving up only blinds you from seeing what lies ahead, so #justkeepswimming 💙🌍🐬 The Lord created me, with a heart that isn't 'normal' to most people, but I wouldn't change it in a #heartbeat 😉 Dear #campdelcorazon, Thank you, for nine years ago, teaching me that: I'm not alone. My #campdelcorazon name tag from 2009 2. A human on top of a pole on a rope course on #CatalinaIsland To be HONEST, I did not want to go up on that pole. I did NOT want to climb up the metal steps. I did not at all want to stand, or even kneel at the top of the pole. WHY? I was afraid... I was afraid of falling off. I was afraid to embarrass myself in-front of all my Camp friends. I was afraid they would laugh at me if I messed up. I was afraid that they would pay more attention to how ugly I looked in my outfit, above anything else. Looking back now, I realize that day was a whole lot like my life. In life, I often make the mistake of thinking, 'Oh, well, if I look 'perfect' on the outside, everyone will like me,' or 'Nobody likes me for me, so I'll just make some changes to look like every woman in Hollywood, and I'll be ' #beautiful' #NOTETOSELF: #KATHRYN! You are you, and sometimes, people shove lies into your head, but don't you ever forget: YOU are a #childofTheOneTrueKing! It's okay not to be okay, and it's okay to have a bad day! My name might say Kathryn Eads on a name tag, and I do make mistakes, and I am not perfect, but you wanna know why I #smile everyday, even in the darkest moments? The majority of you who see this won't know what 'PACE' is, nor will be able to attend, & that's okay, because I'll explain❤️ From 2006-2011, I went to California to #CampdelCorazon, and I was 17 in 2011, so that's why I haven't been back. I'm #twentyone 😊 Two years ago, Camp brought back PACE, and it's an informative weekend for young adults with #congenitalheartdefects #Campdelcorazon is a free-of-charge camp for kids, like me, who are born with a #heartcondition It's very common, actually: #1in100 babies will be born with at least one #heartdefect, and when left untreated, it's the number one killer of children, more than all childhood cancers combined. #truth #chdawareness💔💙❤️ Anyway, there's just something magical about being around other people who understand. They understand when classmates laugh at you for sitting out in P.E. Class. They understand that #haltermonitors are not at all fun. 💌They understand that being broken doesn't mean we're mistaken. #wisdom💚 Although not every single person has my same heart condition, #longqt, we all share our stories, to remind each other that we're a family, and as it says in #liloandstich, 'Ohana means 'family', and family never gets left behind' #disneyquotes😁 I think of my camp friends as my #heartfamily, because they really do understand what the broken-hearted life is like💔 I mean, I've been single my whole life, but hey, if God is still working in my heart, #punintended, there's a reason I'm still here, broken, flawed, and most importantly: #iamloved❤️ I'm so very excited to go to Cali in a few weeks, to see my second family. ‘Freedom from a Broken Heart’    Hiding from the true person who you wish you could be, Only because you’re ashamed of your true identity. Breaking, even when you thought you were strong. At times, you don’t even know where you are, or if you B e l o n g. Who did you just talk to?  You want to be accepted. Your longing ♥ seemed lonely, & wanted to be pure. Was it Unbroken?  No. It was the exact opposite, & very unsure. You wanted to leave the world because the pain looked too dark to Even see the smallest bit of light. When in reality, YOU were blinded, Without near hope in sight. You created a little g god, & you, while never confessing it,  HATED that this guy named 'Jesus’ gave you a  Broken heart. You almost believed That you were a mistake. Pleasing mankind hardened the love, Yet fueling the distortion of Who God was. Hiding behind a screen, Only to idolize what cravings Replaced His  GRACE. Dwelling in man’s approval won’t save, but Breaking free from your humanly sinful Heart,  Is only possible When you fully TRUST  The One Who Created your physical  Heart in the first place. It’s called His Amazing GRACE. His Thoughts for you are more than every single grain of sand on This Earth, that He CREATED.  YOU ARE here for a reason, & YOU ARE His Creation. He gave you a literal broken heart, but only to cause you to  Seek HIM above all else, &  THAT is something to be Thankful about.
