Temp Job
Sooo, I got a temporary job to get some extra money before I start uni, and what do you know? Just 2 weeks in and I have a cold that is kicking my but.
Well, it was kicking my but I'm over most of it now. Have been absolutely miserable for the last 6 days because of it.
Oh well, this is just a reminder to bring cold medicine when I move into accommodation, as I may be too miserable to get some when I get another cold.
Accommodation Part 2
Welp I did it, I applied for accommodation and put down my £200 deposit. Now it is a waiting game for Uni to start. Yay
Accommodation
I am so indecisive about accommodation for my 1st year in uni. I first planned to go for the first year, but then I pivoted to commuting, as it is cheaper. Now I am considering it again as 1st years get guaranteed accommodation. I don't know anyone who stayed in accommodation when they went to uni as my mum and dad commuted, and I am the only child of 3 to go to university.
I don't know what to do. Should I go outside my comfort bubble and go to accommodation and immerse myself in uni life? Should I stay in my comfort bubble and commute to save for accommodation for the 2nd year, with no guarantee of getting it?
Any advice would be welcome.
P.S. I can get student & maintenance loans that cover the rent, tuition and give me roughly £1000 for 3 months of food and necessities. I am just a worrywart who wants to be extra prepared.
I got in!!!
I didn't think I would be accepted this quickly, but yesterday I got an email saying that I have an unconditional offer!. There was some back and forth with the admissions team as they sent the email to my old email, and the student portal would not allow me entry, saying that I was not linked to the account. I managed to accept the offer, and I shall receive my enrolment email at the end of the summer months before the courses commence in September.
I didn't even need to send in my college certificate, I was worried about as they already had it on the system. I mean, it was a slight waste of £58, but it is always a good thing to have on hand.
So YAY I got in!!
Applied :D
Yay! I have applied for the computing course. Now I am just incredibly nervous that my certificate wont be reissued in time. Was ill when I was supposed to get it then it slipped my mind as I went strait into Uni afterwards. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess, that burnout was coming for me before I even started that one year at Uni.
It was £58 and it will take 20 working days so I hope they find it. So i am nervous excited. I have redone my plan on accommodation, I plan on getting the train for the first year so I can save some money to go into the Halls of Residence in my second year. That way I wont be panicking about the cost of living.
Open Day was a success! :D
Still debating on the housing situation but I have already applied for student finance. Just got to wait for my college replacement certificate to come in then I can apply to the course.
Open Day Tomorrow
I am so anxious/nervous/excited about the university open day tomorrow. Yea the hill the uni is on will probably kill my knees afterwards but hey I will have all the info I need.
USW Treforest hear I come :P
Cost of living
Me: ‘Seeing the cost-of-living rise’
Me: Thinking of how I want to go into accommodation for university
Me:...... Me: Oh no no! I’m going to starve! I’m going to be stranded on campus with no travel money! I’m going to be so poor!! I will become a skeleton!! Will I be able to afford shampoo?!!
Me: Starts to franticly Google local supermarket prices and if bulk buying is an option.
Also, Me:.......Really?
Also, Me: I can’t even apply to the university until the end of this month. The open day is in 2 weeks why am I panicking over something that hasn’t even happened yet.
Yes I have been arguing with my own brain over this and this is how it roughly goes each time :p
Looking at courses
I have been staring at the list of courses for a while, and I am torn between Cyber security and Computing. My brain is saying why not both and now that is imposable. I am leaning towards Computing more as it covers a range of topics useful in the workplace.
After having 1 job and job searching for a few months, I know that Cyber Security is very specific field. The jobs that that need cyber security personnel do pay a lot but I believe that my brain is more suited for Computing.
Brain make a decision -_-

Journey Start
Today on 01/03/2026 I have decided to go back to university. I did one year right after college but chose the wrong course :(. This disheartened me when it didn’t go well but now at the ripe age of 28, I have gathered my courage to try again :).
This time I will stay in the accommodations on campus to get absorbed into university culture. I did not do this last time as I felt a huge separation from everyone else as I relied on public transport. I made this blog to track my journey thorough university and if I feel like it after university.
This all stems on me getting into said university but hey I did it once I can do it again. Wish me luck.
