u know that hatred y’all have for american cops who killed black men on sight? well filipino cops are now killing poor people on sight on the suspicion of drugs. dead bodies are showing up with cardboard sheets on them labelling them drug users/pushers without evidence or due process. the police even made it easier for the general public to get guns so they can kill poor people on sight if they want.

hundreds of people have been murdered since may, without due process or even proof. thousands more have surrendered to the authorities for fear of their lives but have been absolutely demonized. dozens have been falsely accused or forced to surrender despite no evidence to rack up numbers and make officials look good. and 16m people voted for this democide and celebrate it. the same people who accuse the government and the police of corruption and abuse of power are also celebrating this direct abuse of power and outright mass murder.

all because our delightful president issued an open season call for anyone even vaguely related to drugs and absolutely condones extra-judicial killing (he was mayor for twenty years of a city that was infamous for the “davao death squad” and has one of the highest murder/rape stats in the country). it’s only a matter of time before journalists go next because he’s called for them to be murdered too.

that’s what it looks like btw. 265 actual human beings murdered, without due process, without trial, without anything, in a country without a death penalty. in less than a month.
