Now the pilgrimage is over. It only struck me that it was the end when we arrived at the Trondheim Pilgrims' Hostel, and were claiming our bags from the trailer, where they have been carried every day of our 41-day walk - one of the leaders said "everything out - we won't be using this tomorrow."
I took the train from Trondheim south to my friends' house in Hoenefoss - it took 6 weeks to walk from Oslo to Trondheim, and 6 hours to travel back by train south.
It feels strange not to pack my lunch; pack my day pack; put on sunscreen; pick up my walking sticks and start out with Ingrid, Lars, Maria, Sabina, Christine, Niels, Bente...
However, my holiday is not yet over - today I'm washing clothes; and tomorrow I travel up to Lofoten (by plane) for the weekend. My hosts have promised me that there are places to walk there too.
