Sorry for the M.I.A! I did get to hoop a bit while we were in England, not as much as I would have liked but better than 2 weeks with out. The travel hoop I took... The connectors have gone all weird. One was weird to start but the other is now off too, I may try to take it apart and fix it. In fact, I know I will, I really like the size and weight. Worst comes to worst, I'll do some more stuff to sell and buy another. Without 40 hours of planes, trains, and automobiles it will likely hold up better.
Post mandala learning kitty snuggles. Also, reverse weaving hurts my brain.
Hooping after wee one goes to bed makes for good mood lighting.
Y'all I ordered this Wednesday night. A++++++ customer service!
I'm probably following back from my other blog : raisingmountains Just, P.S
Mini sesh while wee one is getting pink ice cream with Nana.
AND my smaller polypro is done too! AND it’s amazing, though it will be set aside while I adjust to the size with the PE.
I’m thinking my daughter will need a Chibi Moon inspired hoop to replaced her Walmart one now.

Smaller hoop should be here on Monday! In plenty of time to take it traveling to the U.K, and advice on flying with a hoop would be appreciated.
It’s an infinity collapsible pe, I plan to zip tie it and secure to our carry on.
Requisite hoop photo? Or starting video but was accidentally on camera setting photo?
katniphoops. I’ve only been hooping since 2011 but hopefully I can answer any questions you have.
Best place for tutorials is usually YouTube but now so many people are posting videos it’s hard to know which ones are good. SaFire and Deanna Love, Baxter. Hoopers famous enough (without the community) to give workshops around the globe are always great sources.
Now, I haven’t checked out every source on here but hoop-trix.com is extremely organized for hoop tricks (especially when you know the name of the trick you are looking for).

Thanks! Deanna Love's tutorials are easily my favorite. I've been waist hooping for a looooong time and am just jumping into tricks but I think I want to just focus on maybe 3 at a time and really nailing them. But, it's hard to resist sometimes!
I have hoop-trix saved but haven't explored. Maybe tonight I will crack it open.
Beginner Hooping: A self teaching tutorial list.
The issue lies, as a beginner, in knowing where to start, what to learn and in what order. I have compiled a list of tutorials for you to follow as you start out on your journey. I have primarily included moves I consider to be the building blocks of hooping - the basics which will set you up for all other moves to come.
For the-crane-dance and anyone else learning to hoop dance by themselves!
I might do some follow on posts with more beginner and intermediate moves but this basically covers all of your foundation moves.
cat-britches replied to your video post: “It was a little darker than I wanted it to be and I was literally in a…”:
Dude how did you get started with this also where do you get that hoop I THINK I HAVE FOUND MY LIFE’S GOAL
OKAY. So i’m gonna make a hula hoop video like REALLY soon (i have a new roommate and i am not at the level yet where i can be like ‘dude please turn down your country music so i can talk to the internet’) BUT basically three years ago I found hooping through someone on tumblr who I will not name because she’s actually like a pretty horrible person but ever since then EVERYTHING HAS BEEN MAGICAL. I’m gonna make a long post now so idk if you know what you got yourself into.
Basic tips of hooping:
start with a beginner hoop. I don’t care who tells you otherwise. starting with anything other than a humongous polyethylene hoop will likely lead you to a whole pile of frustration because, contrary to how little kids make it look, hooping is hard. you wanna know why you can’t hoop as well as your 5 year old cousin? it’s because you aren’t the same size as a 5 year old. that shit needs to be scaled up. and for the love of god please don’t buy a “fitness” hoop at walmart or target or wherever. you will literally destroy your body.
Watch. A. Million. Tutorials.
i’m kind of old school, so i’m a real advocate of the idea that you need to be able to waist hoop for 5 minutes straight without touching it with your hands or dropping it before you really move onto anything else. foundations are the key to being able to really dance inside of a hoop.
in kind of an opposite suggestion, hoop dance IS dance, so i like to suggest starting by just feeling the music and doing what feels right. i actually set aside times to “drill” certain tricks so i get them down foundationally, so when the time does come that i’m flowing and i’m really feeling a transition into a certain trick, i’m more likely to nail it.
likewise, put on some of your favorite music. you can hoop to literally anything. the internet will suggest that it’s really only good for edm and jam bands, but i have hooped my ass off to some screamo and some chill indie piano and anything in between and it has been a great time
i think this is the most important tip: if you don’t get something, don’t freak out. it took me three years to figure out this one move and, yeah, it sucked that i couldn’t get it for that long, but it was SO rewarding when i finally nailed it. some people pick up waist hooping immediately. some people don’t. the great thing about hooping is it’s a totally non-competitive form of exercise both mentally and physically. if you can’t waist hoop right away, count each rotation of the hoop as a new success. the only progress you should be measuring is against yourself.
my last tip, because this post is like 17 novels long at this point: record yourself. you don’t have to post it anywhere. record yourself and watch the footage back and then delete it if you want. by watching what you’re doing, you can spot small corrections that may need to be made, or you can see something you did that was really cool that you may want to try again! all tricks probably started accidentally at some point, so you could be creating new tricks for all you know!
wow i’m so sorry about this post haha. hooping gets me all jazzed up.
My hoop’s from here! I have nothing but wonderful things to say about that shop. I’ve also purchased an led hoop from here and I have a Hyperion on the way, but I started on like a 42″ polyethlene hoop. If anyone has any questions about starting hooping/what size hoop they should order/what kind of hoop they should get based on their hooping goals, message me! Also if anyone wants to be a guinea pig and buy a hoop from me, hit me up. I have lots of super pretty tape in all sorts of colors.
Pure hoop tutorials
So with all this talk of cheating tricks it really has me thinking. How am I supposed to know, as a beginner, which tutorials are showing the trick in its pure form and which aren't? Is there a master list? Or are people just going to talk about cheaters and criticize new hoopers for learning the "lazy" way when we don't really have a way of knowing otherwise? I'd like to learn everything from the roots, so maybe some of y'all that have been in the community for 5,6,7 + years can put together a list of youtubers or particular tutorials that are doing everything properly.
I love this so much <3
