Well… So much for freedom. It was incredible, really. How could they bring her back for another round of this “experiment”? She could have sworn that the entire thing crashed and burned miserably. That didn’t seem to be the case. She was back in the complex maze of a city, completely unaware of what changes they made. One thing was for sure.
She’d definitely leave the experiment out of her own accord this time around.
But… How would Lightning go about it? And were the same citizens from before here? No…
That was too typical. Of course they wouldn’t bring in the same people. The scientist on the bright screen in front of the soldier had mentioned something about wiped memories. So… even if she the allies she had before were here, they wouldn’t remember her. Her response? A scoff, as she walked out of the white room. She didn’t need to hear anything else. She knew the ropes, unfortunately.
Lightning didn’t have time to waste. First it’s locating an apartment, then her investigation would begin. Add a side quest to find her friends from Cocoon as well. They had a large chance of being here as well, right? Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a directory.
"Too far."
With that, the soldier laid a hand on the shoulder of a seemingly harmless pedestrian, who was just passing by.
"What sector are we in right now? It’s crucial that I find out."
Now if The Kid had any sense to him he'd know the importance of meeting a lady like this. It wasn't common to come across those of beauty. If only. He still had a couple more years to grow before understanding all that adult talk. A shame really. He'd have to miss out on this one.
"Sector?" She would be missing out on information in exchange. Luck couldn't be on her side if she expected him to carry answers. This place, Hive City, was as much a mystery to him. The Bastion was destroyed. The people were stoned.
At least they were supposed to be.
Yet here they were moving about and talking to him like so. Being put under pressure now. It meant he would have to adapt and quick. A finger raised then, just the one, straight to the board before them. He could only assume it a map despite the shape. The appendage of choice directing her eyes to the "here" like spot. The place they now stood at.
Trained eyes could only look up at her now for a reaction. It wasn't much but that was all he had to offer. He was just a kid in the end.
forever the optimist! | The Kid ✿
✿ Somehow, someway Nia Teppelin was alive and well in a place called Hive City. She didn’t think it was possible! She was supposed to have faded away into nothing, into the particles of her artificial being. Instead, she awoke in a strange, new place with a doctor explaining… something. Admittedly, Nia was a bit too distracted to pay much attention. She wasn’t afraid, though. The princess was more fascinated than anything else.
She wandered around her district in awe. It wasn’t visually appealing whatsoever — in fact, it was called the Ghetto. Nia wasn’t too sure what that meant, but she guessed it meant something along the lines of dangerous and dirty. She had faith that her apartment was nice and clean, though! Apparently she had two roommates named Alibaba and Alois. Interesting names for interesting people, she hoped! Perhaps they came from exotic lands. Nia couldn’t wait to learn more about them.
She couldn’t wait to learn more about everyone and everything here, as a matter of fact! Nia did feel slight concern and worry regarding the whereabouts of Simon, Yoko, Rossiu, and others from her home. She had faith that they were alive and well, though, just as she was!
Looking around, Nia didn’t quite know where to start! The doctor had mentioned something about getting a job… She remembered working as a cook for team Dai Gurren long ago, when she was still a young girl! As a grown woman, she worked at Simon’s side. Simon and Rossiu didn’t lead here, however. Things were incredibly different from how she knew.
Perhaps the only way to find out was to ask somebody!
So, without hesitation, Nia tapped on the shoulder of the nearest citizen.
"Hello, kind citizen of Hive City!" she greeted, giving a warm smile. "My name is Nia Teppelin and I wish to inquire how to obtain a job here!"
Face it Kid you're lost.
Pride dictated his every move at this point. Even when in the unknown he'd always found his way before. No matter the distance the cog, his gear led him right. It didn't lead astray. Till this moment.
If there was a way out, escape, it wasn't an easy route. The track gone cold as the streets he wandered. Not a citizen in sight that wished to help. Strange enough that people were not stone status either. They weren't Ura. This much was clear. To say they were like him was wrong too. Just... Strange was what it was. The Kid not feeling the need to talk to them. Best to keep to yourself out in the wild.
That is until his own peace was disturbed. Unease set in. His hand ready on the wooden hammer upon his back as he looked to the source. A beauty being what eyes found. Quite the fine catch I might add. Someone on par with even Zia. Too bad the lass was just about as knowing as him.
Her smile caused a commotion in his chest. Where a hand had raised to guard with a weapon, it now planted itself on the metal that protected his torso. So Nia was the name. Now that sounded similar.
If only The Kid had info to give. Still he'd reply with what he knew.
His had merely holding out the parchment crumpled between. "The Kid" Is what he called himself. The note in his hand being the only thing he could share with her. His own lack of knowledge becoming clear.
"How are you still moving?" Finally a question of his own. Found the courage to talk didn't yah Kid?
anambadassador said: ooc: sOBS. i’m so happy we have The Kid here at Citta A+ 10/10 would recommend. i must thread with you
idolchatter; ahaha. you are going to make me turn the most horrid color of red! /)////(\ started playing the game and was hooked right into a muse a few levels in. i'm happy to know at least one person is going to enjoy him here.
i'd love to thread with you also!
The old man.. has died.
Now don’t go making that face. Doesn’t suit a boy like you.
We all know I was getting pretty far up there. A man can be great but we can’t live forever. At least I died of my own accord. Lasted long enough against both the Calamity and the Ura alike. And thanks to that I met you Kid.
No doubt life at the Bastion won’t be the same. Sorry I can’t be there to greet your return. Not that we talked much on that stuff. That’s something I’ll regret most.
Make sure to grow into a strong man now. Don’t be leaving Zia alone.
Send "{Character Name} has died" for a drabble on my muses reaction to that situation.
And so he fell to his death --(OPEN
-- And so he fell to his death
Ah I'm just joking with you.
With the rate he tumbled from the Bastion any normal Mason would've been done. Not this one. Just another trip on the path was what this had been. Another mark for his face to leave in the pavement.
The cog had told him there was a shard here, it was never wrong. Well, it was supposed to be in the area anyway. That was before The Kid decided to take himself a little spill. Ever too adventurous peeking over the edge. Should've warned him of what lay below. If only I had the chance to now.
So he stood. He woke up. The city ringing no bells but he didn't worry. There was a lot out there beyond the Rippling Walls that he knew little on. An Ura settlement being what he thought this to be.
Until he noticed that with his waking came a little extra in his pocket.
"Welcome to Hive City."
If only The Kid had taken the time to learn his letters then he'd understand the paper. To him it was just a bunch of scribbles. Being in the unknown was nothing new though. This place actually calming compared to other areas the Calamity had touched.
So he would just pick up his trusty hammer and be-- Seems a bit more than now fancy parchment had been left to him. The Cael Hammer, the pride of the Mason. What was once great steel had turned into simple wood. Still not a thing to deter him.
Maybe...
WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU ARE IN A BAD MOOD?
Asking for a mood improvement was a bit much for The Kid. Not that he wasn’t taken to it. A continuously crumbling city just didn’t set the right mood for any joy.
He was never one to speak much but it was clear there was one way to make him smile. One person for the job. Zia did have quite the voice to her. The Kid never seeming to be more relaxed than when listening to her sing from a further distance.
He should just be more honest with himself.
