Captain's Log: It is the Twenty Fourth of April, in the Year Two Thousand and Sixteen, exactly forty days upon my arrival in Girdwood and I am sitting here in the Southern most hall of the resort at a small table in front of the Tramway. The weather is fair and I heard my first wave of bear sitings in the area. Mosquitoes are emerging, eager to taste warm blood. My biological clock has had a 7am alarm set for me every morning for the past week and ever since I started hydrating and flossing twice a day, I’ve never felt better. I feel like I’ve finally caught up with myself. It took a while.
A brief notation of moral(s) / lesson(s) learned / to do(s), composed post struggles of the first half of 2016: Notes to self. Don’t forget:
If you asked me how, child I'd tell you this; 1 Wake up early and watch the sun rise. Stretch out in the cold air. // 2 Stand up tall. Feel how effortlessly your body moves against gravity. Breathe. Challenge your mind. Speak up and be honest. Be a better version of who you were yesterday. // 3 Be kind to your heart. Be kind to the hearts of those who let you near. // 4 Do not take or accept what you cannot reciprocate. Respect the graciousness of others and know the difference between what is yours and what is not; what you need and what you don’t. // 5 Navigate wisely. Improvise. // 6 Trust that gut. // 7 Try not to care too much about what other people think. Everyone lives within their own boundaries. Don't limit your life to another person's restrictions. // 8 Be patient with yourself and those you care for, but never wait for others to follow your ambitions with you. // 9 Find a way to understand, even if it means stepping outside what feels right. // 10 Get to know yourself everyday. Ask questions. // 11 If you are struggling, know this happens. Life is not easy. // 12 Reality is, at the end of the day, it's just you inside your skin. And that's okay.
Renee.
