Writers: where did your story start?

Hey, so, while there are a lot of question games and challenges around about the plot and especially the character or your works, I would also be super interested in the stories behind it! So, yeah, I had this fun idea of telling where the idea for your WIP started.

For my main WIP, it started as an idea for a story about two mechanics, Jacob and Amy. I just... could not find a plot. After a lot of useless searching for ideas, I decided to ignore everything I had done so far and start anew, so I put my music on shuffle to find inspiration. "Kings and Queens" gave me the idea to make princess Aiko - who at that time still was named Naica / Naika - my main character. That's the reason it's in her character playlist!

My dystopia WIP actually started as a fanfiction about some YouTubers, I think I started writing it in 2015 or 2016 or so. In 2019, I think, I found that start of a story again and decided to revamp it into a wlw story.

This was actually harder than I thought, because before I was tagged, I did not have a character playlist. I just... rarely take inspiration from lyrics, and more from the general aesthetic of a song, if that makes sense. But I am quite pleased with the outcome, so yeah, thanks for the challenge!

The wind is howling, coldest night You try to win this hopeless fight

You try to beat the cruel snow But it's too late, you were too slow

Do not lay down, don't close your eyes Remember that the sun will rise

But sleep is stronger, lulls you in You never had a chance to win

As you get closer to your end He stands right there, he holds your hand

Silently, he steals your breath Dressed in white, godfather death He brings you home, he keeps you warm He carries you, he means no harm

Flower: But the coast of Luzano was lined with yellow and orange houses, which seemed to neither have bays nor ornaments, instead, their smooth facades were only decorated by window shutters and flower pots.

Six Sentence Sunday! Based on this post from @ao3commentoftheday! 

At the time, she had shaken away the thought of it as soon as it crossed her mind before Anastazia could have read her mind. Now, Fay doubts Anastazia would have done that then, when she was so scared and had things much more terrifying and important on her mind.  

Having a crush on a mind reader is a bad idea. Having a crush on your best, straight friend who is a mind reader is an even worse idea.  

Fay turns to the side to face the wall, which is covered in printed pictures of her with her friends and the best moments from their travels and adventures. She notices Anastazia in every single one and lets herself close her eyes and imagine how it would be to have her as a girlfriend. And, with that thought, Fay Briar falls asleep just as a single tear falls down her cheek.

From my Dystopia WIP

Sina turned to her left side, so that she could look at the fireplace, and at Maja laying besides her. The warm, flickering light painted dancing little flecks of gold on Majas face, while the quiet whispering of the fire that would burn down in a few hours sang Sina to sleep.

Just a single time she woke up that night, awakened by a quiet snoring close to her ear. Maja had turned around in her sleep so that she was now cuddling with Sina, her head close to Sinas. Her locks moved softly up and down when she breathed and tickled Sina, but Sina felt as warm and secure as she hadn’t in a long time, warmed by the soft blanket and Majas body next to hers. She closed her eyes and fell asleep again.

I just love those two a lot... and some soft interaction is never bad.

Don’t apologize for your writing, drawing, music, designs, films, sculptures, cosplays, knitting, sewing, cooking, and anything else I might’ve missed.

Don’t apologize for the quality.

Stop being afraid of what you can accomplish. You might think you can do so much better, well guess what? You will. You’re always improving. But if you start to apologize for the best you can do at this moment, then you might restrain yourself, stop yourself from taking risks that will help you.

I know this is a hard thing to stop. I do it all the time. When I submit art to people that I’m not so confident about, I’ll apologize in advance.

This year, I challenge you, and myself, to stop doing it.
