ยปยปโโโโ> LORE! [you can continue without reading all this]
the barbarian clan is known for conquering any village, kingdom and/or empire. they are brutes, usually settling anything by waging war and desecrating the land.
the barbarians speak in old Norse! conversing is difficult...
Katsuki is the only son and prince of the barbarian clan.
barbarians are stronger and bigger in size than regular humans.
your kingdom is ruled by your fatherโcalled cheif instead of kingโwho's a big softy and doesn't see the point in things like war... he prefers to talk things out and leave casualties to a zero. even if that means marrying off his only daughter...
you are the only daughter of your father which only makes you more precious and worthy of bearing the heir of both your kingdom and their clan.
tetsugami; a huge, semi intelligent crab. [there are few now as people have hunted them down to the double digits.]
crimson dragons; giant flying lizards. [they are very friendly despite their mean looking faces & their scales are extremely valuable.]
(more coming soon)

marriage. the best thing that could ever happen to a girl. all your life, you'd imagined being a bride; delicately decorating your hair with wild tulips, adorning your body in silver and white silk. spending the rest of your life with the person you love most.
now you're here, kneeling in front of a bonfire beside a complete stranger, cloaked in boar fur and animal skeletons, as the thick, warm blood of a lamb is poured over you. your marriage ceremony... filled with unfamiliar facesโincluding your now-husbandโand traditions. drinking, dancing, and celebrating the union.
"nรบ ger hana konu รพรญna!" a spiked-blonde woman, with an uncanny resemblance to the man kneeling beside you, announced, raising her hands in the air. you looked around confused as ever, as he leaned in, blood-stained fingers pulling you in by the back of your neck. your nose scrunched at the metallic taste of blood that his tongue shoved past your teeth. you push him away, gasping at the foreign feeling.
"hvat รญ helvรญti, kona!?" he frowned, turning away from you, mumbling something under his breath, that you didnโt quite catch. not that you'd understand what he was carrying on about anyways...
the spiked-blonde womanโwhom you guessed to be some sort of priestess or elderโshot you a sharp glare, her arms lowering slowly as she spoke in a hushed yet commanding tone. her words were incomprehensible to you, but the crowd seemed to murmur in agreement. your husband huffed, his frown deepening as he looked at you over his shoulder. you were kneeling there, with eyes pressing on you from all directions. the fire crackled in the silence, and the warmth of it did little to ease the chill settling in your chest.
two women approached you, their faces painted with intricate swirls of red and black. they tugged you to your feet without a word and began guiding you toward a tent decorated with bones, animal pelts, and dried herbs hanging from the entrance. inside, it was dimly lit by a few small lanterns. the air smelled of earth, smoke, and something sweet but unfamiliar.
they gestured for you to sit on a low stool and began pulling at your ceremonial garb, their movements quick but not unkind. your protests fell on deaf ears as they stripped you of the heavy fur cloak, wiping the blood from your skin with damp cloths. one of them muttered something, shaking her head as she scrubbed at your face. it was clear they didn't understand you either, but their disapproving looks were universal.
by the time they were finished, you were dressed in a simpler gown of rough-spun fabric, a far cry from the silks you were used to and had imagined for your wedding night. the older of the two handed you a wooden cup filled with a thick, bitter scented liquid. she pointed to it, then your mouth, her expression stern. reluctantly, you sipped it, grimacing at the taste. the woman nodded, seemingly satisfied, before they left you alone in the tent.
you sat there, staring at your hands, trying to gather your thoughts, but instead, they drift back to just a few mere hours ago...
-
"arranged?" you seethed in disbelief, looking at your defeated father, seated across from you at the council table, surrounded by old wrinkled elders.
"yes, daughter," he affirmed, voice devoid of emotion. "war against the barbarian clan would destroy everything we've builtโ"
"so they made a proposal, a very very rare one," one of the wart ridden elders interrupted-
"to make an arrangement," another continued-
"one that cannot be broken once forged," -
"a marriage,"-
"your sacrifice would save us all, child," the eldest croaked, concluding the proposal, "and as the chief's daughter, it is your duty to your people." one after the other, they all slowly turned their heads toward you, kneeling at the center of their godforsaken grey gazes.
your eyes flickered between them, their crinkled foreheads making you feel sick to your stomach as their words wrung your heartstrings. "marriage is sacred... it can only happen once. i don't know this person that you'd like me to be bound to for the rest of my life..." you snarled, stating the very obvious to those expired raisins.
"i'm afraid you misunderstood us, girl," the eldest fumed, weakly slamming his fist down, "it is arranged. you will wed the heir of the barbarian clan. that is why you have been summoned." firmly raising from his seat to intimidate you.
"that is my daughter you're speaking to, elder... as old as you are, mind your tongue." your father shifted his attention to you. "unfortunately, he is right, my dear. it's already been arranged, and you are to be wed at sundown."
dumbfounded... that's the look on your face. they we're giving you away to complete strangers... and at sundown!? despite all the colorful words that wanted to fly out your mouth, you grit your teeth and settled with a curt nod. you do have a duty to your people.
though it wasn't supposed to happen like this. it was supposed to be the happiest day of your life. you only get married once in your entire life after all.
-
the sound of heavy footsteps outside the tent snapped you out of your thoughts. the flap was pulled aside roughly, and your husband stepped in. his presence filled the small space, his broad shoulders and wild blonde hair almost brushing the top of the tent as his crimson eyes bore into you, a mixture of frustration and curiosity in his gaze.
he said something, his voice sharp and demanding, but you could only blink up at him in confusion. "i don't understand you," you said softly, shaking your head, as your voice trembled, despite your efforts to stay composed.
he huffed, combing a hand through his hair before pointing at you and then gesturing to the pallet of furs in the corner of the tent. his tone suggested he was giving you an order. when you didn't move, he groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"leggjask. sofa." he barked, his frustration very much evident. when you still didn't respond, he crossed the space between you in two long strides, grabbing your wrist and pulling you to your feet. the roughness of his grip made you wince, but he didn't seem to notice as he guided you toward the furs. he pointed again, his expression leaving no room for argument.
you hesitated, thinking that maybe he wanted you to lie down, and slowly you lower yourself onto the makeshift bed. he stood over you for a moment, his intense gaze making your skin prickle, before he turned and left the tent without another word.
you let out a shaky breath, your heart pounding in your chest. you were alone in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by strangers who you couldn't even get to know, married to a man you didn't understand. tears pricked at the corners of your eyes with the overwhelming thoughts, but you blinked them away, refusing to let yourself break down on your wedding night.
the two women that cleaned you up earlier came back with him, and they began to remove his furs. you quickly averted your eyes, feeling a heat crawling up your neck, as the thought of them removing more than just his cloak tainted your mind.
"nei!" the old one scolded, "รรบ verรฐur aรฐ lรญta!" ... why are they babbling their jibberish when they know you don't understand them... "she said, 'you must look'," the younger translated, seeing the confused wrinkle in your brows. oh thank the gods! you smiled briefly at the familiar words before coming back to your senses.
"must i?" you blush, slowly turning back to them.
"yes," she smiled, cleansing your huge husband before your eyes, "if you do not, you give chance for another woman," she carefully rubbed the damp cloth over his bloody forehead while you let the thought sink in.
"leave," you softly ordered, "I'll take care of my husband," and without hesitation she whispered to the old lady, they dropped everything and left. ain't no way you were about to let your husband be seduced away on the night of your union...
gently, you wrung the cloth of most of its water and brought it back up to his face, wiping away the dust and dried blood that covered little scars freckling his almost perfect face.
his eyes burned through your skull with his staring, slowly scanning over the curves and dips of your body as you moved. your finger danced over his skin, tracing the scar on his right cheekbone, moving down to brush past his thin lips, wiping away the remnants of dirt on his well built, chest. he seemed to relax against your touch, closing his piercing crimson eyes, and hanging his head back to let you do your work.
so soft... and smooth... the texture of his skin isn't what you expected. who would've thought that such a rough looking barbarian had the skin of a baby? would explain all the scars though. like this one running down his neck to his collarbone, and these over here trailing down his firm biceps. you almost forgot you were supposed to be cleaning him up... you've finished the upper half and tugged at the leather holding his pants up, struggling to get them undone.
a low chuckle rumbled in his throat and your eyes shot up up to his smirking face, "what's so funny?" you quiver, frowning, as he shifted to stand, undoing the leather and dropping his pants to the dirt floor. "รพar," he rasped, smug at your flustered state.
having those women clean him up was starting to seem more and more reasonable now... nevertheless, you dippied the cloth in the bowl of warm water and squeezed it, before wiping at his lower abdomen. you're so adorable between his legs like that, avoiding his eyes at all costs, while you wipe your way down and around, to his back. again, your hands moved of their own accord, twitching along the scupletd bumps on his back.
he grunted softly as your fingers worked over the knots in his shoulders, his broad frame shifting slightly under your touch. emboldened by the lack of protest, you continued, pressing harder into the muscles along his spine. his head dipped forward, and a low sigh escaped his lips, sending a wave of warmth through you. he brought a large hand up to yours on his shoulders and guided you in front of him.
both your eyes reflected in each other's for a long moment before you tried to break the silence, your words sounding like nonsensical ringing in his ears. he pulled you into his chest, just holding you there in an attempt to shush you, closing his eyes as his brows pinched over them.
"what's your name?" you asked softly, your voice barely audible over the crackling of the distant bonfire. you paused, waiting for a response, but he didn't seem to react, his eyes still closed as if savoring the moment. you tried again, a little louder this time, "what is your name?" you pointed at his chest.
he peeped through his eyelids, a sliver of vermilion meeting yours with a flicker of confusion. "nafniรฐ mitt?" he asked, the foreign words rolling off his tongue. he tilted his head, as though trying to piece together what you were asking.
you frowned, gesturing to yourself. "i'mโฆ" you said your name slowly, pointing at your chest, then gestured to him, raising your brows expectantly.
he blinked, mildly confused, before a smirk tugged at his lips. "Katsuki," he said, his voice low and rough. he tapped his chest, meeting your eyes again. "Kat-su-ki," he repeated, in the same manner you pronounced yours, ensuring you understood.
"Ka-tsu-kiโฆ" you tested the name on your tongue, the unfamiliar syllables feeling oddly satisfying. his smirk widened slightly, pleased that you had caught on.
you nodded, offering a small smile in return, then gestured to yourself again. "my name isโฆ" you repeated your name slowly once more, hoping to bridge the language barrier. his brows furrowed, lips moving as he attempted to mimic the unfamiliar sounds. his effort was clumsy but endearing, and you couldn't help the small laugh that escaped you.
his frown deepened at your amusement. he murmured your name under his breath a few more times, his pronunciation improving with each attempt, until he finally said it with enough accuracy to make you grin.
"that's right!" you cheered softly, nodding in approval.
he held your gaze for a moment longer, his expression unreadable, before his hand came up to gently brush against your cheek. his touch was surprisingly tender, his calloused fingers rough against your skin, but warm.
"sofa," he murmured again, his tone softer this time. he gestured toward the furs, his crimson eyes watching you closely.
you hesitated, unsure if he was commanding you or simply suggesting something. this is it. you thought, heart racing, as you slowly nodded, giving him a glance over your shoulder, before crawling onto the makeshift bed.
he stood for a moment, watching as you adjusted yourself among the furs, before he joined, sinking beside your head with his weight on his palms, caging you in under him. his hair fell beautifully over his narrow, glowing eyes, his nose brushing against yours as he lowered to your quivering lips, sucking them between his, tugging at your plump bottom lip with his teeth.
footsteps thumping right outside your tent made your heart race, thinking someone was coming, but he didn't stop, nor did he care, he hiked up the thin fabric of your dress, his large hand caressing your upper thigh as he shed the leather covering hisโ good god... you look down and your eyes widened. he smirked and hooked the strap of your dress with a finger to pull it down, and expose your heaving chest.
"Katsuki!" the blonde woman from earlier yelled, barging into the tent, "Tak hendur รพรญnar af henni, รพรบ รพarft at vera viรฐ rรกรฐsafn. nรบna!"
"Fรถr Guรฐs sakar, kona!" he yelled back, moving himself off you to sit. he looked up at her worried frown... "Ek kem..." you had no idea what was happening... eyes darting between them as their words flowed out of their mouth and their hands moved in frustration as they spoke.
katsuki looked back at you, a worried expression overtaking the lustful one he had mere seconds ago. he kneeled down kissed you, then threw on his cloak and left. the woman rested a comforting hand on your shoulder, gently smiling before she too headed out, leaving you alone, following behind your husband.

the flap of the tent rustled as ragna crawled her way inside, her movements fluid, limbs moving gracefully as she stooped through the entrance. her silhouette in the dim light of the lantern in the far end, casting a shadow, spilling across the floor like ink.
"ragna!" you choked out, relief falling from your tear blurred eyes.
she didn't smile at you like she usually does. instead, her face twitchedโa grimace or a smirk...โyou couldn't tell. her piercing amber eyes bore into yours, unnervingly wide as she peered down at you.
"you look so pathetic," she jibed, her voice laced with disgust; there was a hallow echo to it, like it was coming from deep within a cave...
you felt your stomach churn at her words, "w-what?" you weakly smile, trying to make sense of her words.
she crouched in front of you, brushing two long, cold fingers against your cheek, "look at you..." grimacing and tightening her grip on your face, "you are as pathetic as your kind come..." shrugging at your bound state.
"you fail at every daily task my people do with ease," she began listing, "you are small... and cannot fight... and you leave me to bleed to death," she laughed in contempt, raising your head to look at her, "was it really worth it all of this?" she tilted her head pitifully, "acting like clan mother? look at you..."
"why are you saying this to me now?" you whisper, her words sinking into your skull and tugging at your heart strings. her barb hurt more than you'd ever admit.
her mouth twitched again, into something barely over a snigger, "oh? i have always wanted to say this to you. my lady," she snorted, her voice growing sharper, almost venomous as she vented, "katsuki will finally see how weak you are now. how you drag our clan's name down."
"stop this," your voice cracked, hot tears streaming freely down your pink cheeks.
the air in the tent felt suffocating, oppressive, and your chest tightened as she kept hissing hate in your head. "why?" she mockingly pouted, "is the truth hurting you?"
"do you think he will come for you?" she prods.
"stop."
"do you think he will care about you once he sees how pathetic you are?" her grin widening as she stood up to tower above you.
"you are only a girl playing at being big and strong." she sneered, her shadow stretched as she stood impossiblely high above you, the edges flickering, warping around you like smoke.
"alright. you made your point," you sighed in defeat...
"he will forget you like you were never there."
"i said you made your point!" you scrambled forward, your bound hands making it difficult to move. screaming, "so shut it!" while frantically shaking your head around to get her out of it. but, she continued to spew her insults and your heart pounded against your ribs as she knelt in front of you again, her face inches away from yours.
her hand shot out, gripping your jaw tightly, her nails digging into the soft, pampered skin of your cheek. "he will not come for you, he will not care if you are dead, he will not fight for a wife as feeble bodied as you are..." she shoved your head back, to hit the centre post.
the words sent a shock throughout your body, your mind replaying everything she's said, like a broken record. this isn't ragnaโyou convinced yourselfโthis couldn't be... and yet the figure before you, tall and slim, with her piercing bright eyes and voice like broken glass when it falls, was unmistakably her...
"you are very wrong, dear." you giggled, "my husband will come get me." cackling like you've finally lost whatever you had of the thing called sanity.
her body convulsed slightly, as she joined in your cackling, her features started drooping like wax melting over candle fire, shifting, morphing, shaping itself to look something like... you... "keep telling yourself that," she hissed, her voice grating the inside of your ear canals. "you'll die here alone."
your vision swarmed with plaguing insects, your ears rang with the screeching of bat-like creatures and your skin started to burn as she grabbed you by the neck, preventing air from going to your lungs as her lips crashed into yours, crying and babblingโgods knows whatโinto your mouth.
you squeezed your eyes shut, willing the world to right itself, while her voice echoed like in your head, laughing, mocking, unrelenting.
and then, silence.
when you opened your eyes again, the tent was empty... the air still... as your chest heaved, cheeks wet with tears as you glanced around frantically, searching for any trace of her...
"ragna?" you called out, your voice trembling. but there was no response... only the faint rustle of the tent flap in the wind...
"looks like the side effects have finally kicked in," your captor chuckled, crossing his legs as he sat in the far ends of the tent. your heart sank in the pit of your stomach as your eyes darted to every corner of the dimly lit tent.
"side effects?" you swallowed the lump in your throat. she wasn't here?โher voice. her face. her touch... they were too real to dismiss as some cruel dream...
you strained against your bindings, fingers twitching with the memory of ragna's grip on your jaw. she was never like that... she would never say those things... an ache settled deep in your stomach....would she?
the silence around you was deafening, heavy and unyielding as shadows danced on the fabric walls, unnaturally as if they were alive. your breaths quickened, coming in shallow gasps as the air grew colder, prickling your skin.
the light went out with a gust of wind... and the faint sound of footsteps stalking toward you sent horrified thrills down your spine.
"who's there?" you demanded, forcing strength into your voice.
you heard heavy breathing getting closerโlow, ragged, and uneven. like something struggling to draw air. it was close, too close. you pressed your back against the tent's center post, bound hands clenching, sweaty with fear.
the breathing stopped.
"she spoke the truth." it rasped, "you were always a burden." it's your voice, your voice flooding your ear canals... "to her. to him. to everyone." she deadpannd... "such a fickle thing." tauntingly laughing, and invading your personal space yet again.
she leaned in, her faceโor lack thereofโjust mere moments away from you. "that's not true." you breathed.
"it isss." she hissed, "you do not belong here and you never will." her unnecessary words making your brows furrow together as her shadowy fingers curl around your neckโnever touching youโthough the pressure was there, "why don't you do us the favor of taking your life sooner... it pains me to see myself in this state..." your head shot up, reddened eyes staring into the abyss before you.
your laughing echoed through her, "you're right..." you coughed, turning your aching neck to the man who was witnessing it all go down in dark end of the tent. "are you finished yet?"
"not quite." he smirked, bringing a gourd of, what tasted like water, to your mouth. hesitantly you let the cool liquid slip down your throat, subsiding the heat inside you.
"what is your name?"
there was a long, silent pause, before his overly smooth tone slithered his name, "...ragnar." and for a split second the firelight flickered to his face, giving you a glimpse of his features. his thin lips, hooked nose, pale skin, thick eyebrows and... amber eyes. "i have had to listen to my sister talk about our 'new clan mother' almost every time i saw her... and thanks to you, that did not happen often."
"what part do you play?"
his brows pinched together in confusion. "what?"
"in our clan. what is โhow do i put thisโ your occupation?" you clarified yourself.
"i am a mage... i keep us out of evils way." he answered, still confused as to why you'd ask something like this.
"do you believe what you're doing to be what's best for our people?" you interrogate him.
"wh- i do not understand why that-"
"answer."
"...yes. i do believe your death is for the betterment of my people."
"i see..." you finally fiddled the ropes off your wrist. slowly, you picked yourself up off the ground and dusted the thin cotton drapings that tried it's best to clothe you, shaking the ringing in your ears off.
faint tremors and scaly roars that grew stronger with each passing moment beneath your feet, almost made your knees give out under the pressure. there was no doubt about it, somethingโor someoneโwas coming, and your heart raced with anticipation.
"i'll give you a choice, ragnar, since you're ranga's brother..." you smiled softly, "get over yourself. let go of this fantasy of killing me to 'purify your clans blood'... and i'll let you continue protecting our people like you said you do. or don't and i'll hold a public execution in the morning." you stated, clasping your hands in front of you as you awaited his response.
his face twitched at your cocky attitude, he didn't know if you were bluffing or not, "how about option number 3, i kill both you and myself. right here, right now." he laughed maniacally, grabbing your dagger from the table he was leaning over in the previous chapter.
"public execution it is." you grinned, as the deafening roar of a dragon tore through the thick atmosphere. "my husband is here."
he scurried over to where you stood, holding your arms, tightly behind your back as he pressed the blade against the supple skin of your neck. an attempt to use you as a hostage to negotiate for his life out of this mess
outside the tent, you heard the grunts and wails of men and women fighting their prince, the occasional grumble of his beast vibrating the ground.
"aren't you a mage?" you ckuckled, "c'mon, show me some magic," teasing his 'holding you hostage with a knife'.
"quiet!" he snarled, spinning in the every directionโhis follower's cries and thuds of their bodies hitting the groundโ came from, before he skittishly dragged you outside.
katsuki moved through the wreckage like a storm, his crimson cloak swirling around him, as his sword gleamed in the moon and firelight, shimmering against his godsly features. his fierce gaze swept the scene, locking onto you with a look that could have frozen over fire.
"get yer fukin' hands, off my wife." he growled, the grip on his sword tightening as his eyes shifted to the blue bruises on your neck. his expression darkened drastically, taking cautious steps forward.
"don't!" ragnar barked, "if you want her alive, you will not think of coming near me," he panicked and you could feel him trembling behind you, "come any closer, and she's dead!" he pressed the blade into your neck and you winced at the pain as a few drops of blood rolled down to your chest.
"hah!?" katsuki screwed his face, "yer hidin' behind her instead o' fightin' f'her? fuckin' pathetic." he scoffed as he picked up a sword from one of the rebels he defeated and threw it toward the man behind you, "grow some fuckin' balls 'n fight me."
ragnar immediately shoved you aside, scrambling to pick up the sword. as soon as he got a hand on the hilt he sprinted toward katsuki, who didn't flinch as ragnar hastily swung his blade around, slicing through the air and nothingness.
you could only watch, stunned as you crawled your way over to your dagger. with one swift kick and a wack behind his head, your husband knocked ragnar unconscious. something he's done to every single body, decorating the murky forest floors.
katsuki stood still for a moment, his chest heaving as he surveyed the carnage. then, he turned to you, his sharp features hard and unreadable as he approached.
he knelt before you, "you okay?" he asked gruffly, his voice softer than usual.
you nodded, though tears streamed down your face. you flung yourself at him, clutching at his cloak. he stiffened for a moment before sighing heavily, and wrapping his arms around you in a protective hold. "tch. yer such a pain," he muttered, but his grip didn't loosen.
"i thought i'd never see you again," you sobbed into his chest, finally letting the weight of everything crash over you.
"the fuck did you just say?" he shoved you back in shock, was he his hearing messed up? he shook his head slightly before taking a moment, looking over your small frame for injuries. "y'really think i'd let a bunch o' half-wit rebels take ya from me?" he smirked, smug with his huge self.
for a moment, the world around you faded, the chaos reduced to nothing more than a distant hum. he pulled back slightly, his calloused hand cupping your cheek as he inspected you further.
"i gotcha, i gotcha..." he comforted, his voice steady and unwavering.
your breath hitched, but before you could respond, his expression hardened. his fingers brushed against the faint bruises on your neck, and his eyes narrowed.
"the hell did they do to you?"
you hesitated, your thoughts all jumbled and fragmented. "nothing really... all he said he did was, he casted a spell of sorts on me..." you said quietly, your voice trembling. "i don't remember exactly what happened... but everything felt so real... ragna!โ"
"she's alive," he interrupted, his tone sharp. "she's hurt, but she'll live."
relief washed over you, and your knees gave out as the tension finally broke. katsuki caught you with ease, his strong arms steadying you as he scooped you up.
"let's get outta here," he said, his voice softening as he carried you away from the smoldering remains of the rebel campsite, to his dragon.

"you must pull the rope harder, my lady," ragna instructed, glancing at you with a faint smirk, "or you'll be chasing after your tent when the wind picks up."
"ha ha, ragna," you rolled your eyes, blowing away stray strands of hair from your face, "i've got this," giving her a small pat her on the shoulder. putting up tents isn't so difficult after all. you stood proud in front of your hard work, admiring it with your hands on your hips.
a huge shadow that glided overhead caught your attention. soaring the night sky on his beautiful crimson beast, was your husbandโwho should be having dinner with you around the little bon fire you also worked so hard on, to get going.
"does he ever rest?" you yawned, squinting up to see when he'd fly by again.
"on a night like this? i'm afraid he will not." ragna shrugged, poking a stick in the fire absentmindedly. you glanced upward again, catching sight of your husband's silhouette against the moonlit sky. and you sighed โa soft sighโ to yourself.
to the far end of the gathering, the tetsugami rested peacefully in some tall bushes as mitsuki's guards marched around camp at the bark of her order. after ensuring your belongings were secured, you threw yourself onto the thin slab of cushion, snuggling in to make yourself comfortable and you began to drift off.
your eyes shot open to a scuffle outside your tent and you flew up, reaching for the dagger mitsuki gifted you on your wedding night, under your makeshift pillow, preparing to launch at whoever was about to enter your tent.
your heart pounded against your ribs as the tent flap flew open and you moved instinctively, springing toward the intruding figure.
"frรบ mรญn! it is me!" ragna dodged, holding her hands up by the sides of her head. "we must go, now!" she hissed, clutching the side of her waist.
there was no time to ask questions, you nodded taking her word as you rushed out of your tent. the guards were scattered all over the forest grounds, laying in pools of their own blood before you. "where's mother!?" you instantly panic, eyes darting about, hoping not to find her laying among the defeated guards.
"she's... waiting for us -gasp- near the... tetsu-gami," ragna heaved, coughing as she spoke. "we must hurry -ahgk!-"
"ragna!"
"run!" she gasped, decapitating the the man who sneaked up behind and stab her. you hesitatedโ"we- we have to stop the bleeding!"โlooking at her sluggish formโshe's heavyโyou try to hold her up. "please, my lady... i'll be okay," she wheezed, "your life... matters m-most..." weakly smiling as she caressed your face with a bloody hand.
"i can't just leave you," tears threatened to fall, as she whimper out yet another plea. with a heavy sigh and a hesitant squeeze on her hands, you stood up, turning on your heels, making a sprint toward the tetsugami. you frantically bat webs and low branches out of way as you ran through the dark forest, wiping at the hot tears that flowed down your face, blurring your vision.
"mรฆr mรญn!" a worried voice called out to you, you stumbled forward, and they caught you, holding you up by the shoulders, "hvar er ragna!?" ragna... tears well up in your eyes at ragna's name... mitsuki took the hint, and grabbed your hand.
"ekki svona fljรณtt," a low, sinister voice, snaked into your ear... and before you even react, your limbs seized up, the air feeling much colder as an anonymous figure loomed behind you.
mitsuki wasted no time in drawing her sword and swinging it at his head with a grunt. the shriek of katsuki's dragon made your heart race, relieved to hear the beast's rumble, descending from the skies above. he leaped off the overgrown lizard, charging forward with no hesitation, incoherently yelling at the man who held you captiveโbefore a dark cloud of smoke swallowed you both in almost an instant, leaving katsuki standing there dumbfounded as he took in the scene in front of him.
-
no matter how hard you tried, you couldn't move a muscle, you couldn't talk and it felt like you were burning upโtrapped inside your own skin.
"haltu henni niรฐri!" he commanded his people, and as soon as his hands left your body, you felt a rush of blood coursing through your veins as the feeling returned to your limbs. you fought back, kicking and twisting out of their holds as much as you can, as hands tried to grab you.
unfortunately, it wasn't enough. their sizes and strength, greatly overwhelmed yours. one of them managed to loop a cloth around your face, and you struggled against the drowsiness invading your system at the bitter scent of it.
"you're... going... to die... for this..." you mummur your last words, before your eyes we're completely shut.
-
your hands were bound, and your head throbbed from the drug they'd used to knocked you out. you roll your shoulders back, feeling a sore muscle right under your shoulder blade as your eyes flutter open.
"gods... i hoped this was one of those really realistic dreams..." you groan, scanning your surroundings. you we're in a tent, similar to those of the barbarian clan... and there was a tall wiry figure in the corner, both palms pressing against a wooden slab of a table in front of him.
"your blood has no place in our clan." he spat, looking over his shoulder in disgust, and you had to shake your head a bit, to come to your senses properly, rubbing your ear against your shoulder... did he just... "your blood will sully our future warriors." he continued. oh he's definitely speaking your language...
"your learned my language just to say that to me?" you mocked, "how sweet," teasing his supposed efforts.
he stared at you, a sneer tugging at the corner of his lips. "you are most lucky our ritual requires your death at dawn..."
"at dawn!?" you dramatically gasped, and if you could, you'd dramatically put a hand on your chest to emphasize, "couldn't you have waited longer?" sarcasm laced in your voice as you glared back at him.
"i'm beginning to wish i didn't use that spell on you," he grumbled, turning back to whatever he had splayed out in front of him.
"you gave me something as useful as your language?" you mused at his stupidity, "why on earth would you do that?" giggling to yourself.
he turned around completely, looking confused as ever as he watched down at you tied to the bottom of the tent's center post. "i did it for myself. do not misunderstand." he sneered, scrunching his nose at your significantly smaller frame below him.
"why?" was all you said, keeping eye contact.
"why?" he chuckled, "i want to hear your cries of agony as every ounce of your blood drains from your small, feeble body." he stooped in front of you, bracing a hand near your head against the thick pole.
you raise a brow, the corner of your mouth twisting into a sardonic smile, "was that supposed to scare me?" you leaned forward, countering his intimidation.
his expression faltered for a fraction of a second, but he shook it off, motioning for his men to fix your restraints and they left you alone. your mind worked furiously, calculating your next move.
then a sudden heat surged through every fiber of your muscles, you felt like you were beginning to break into a cold sweat as your vision blurred. your head spun toward the entrance of the tent, hearing rustling sounds outside.
a familiar face peeked through the flap and a wave of relief washed over you and tears began to flow uncontrollably from you reddened eyes, "ragna," you cried, sniffling like a little brat.

Idc what anyone says I LOVE this hc that Katsuki has dimples.
Like the dimple isn't that deep so it doesn't show up with just any smile. It has to be a specific type of smile that he mostly hid because he wanted ppl to fear him and not to find him cute๐พ
Actually you CAN use the same word twice in the same paragraph. The same sentence even. If it's funny, if it's for emphasis, if it's harping on a theme, if you're sexy and you do whatever you want forever. Write on
"he says, you are too stiff, frรบ mรญn!" ragna called, perched on a nearby boulder, "it makes you slow!" translating katsuki's barked criticisms.
he lunged forward, swinging the wooden blade at your feet, throwing you off your footing.
katsuki stood before you, as you stumbled, sweat glistening on his toned body with the harsh sunlight, beaming down on him, "hold your ground," he growled, lifting his sword to charge at you again. you took a breath, chest heaving as you gripped the handle of the wooden practice sword, raising your weapon to meet his.
the clashing of pine echoed through the clearing, the vibration rattling through your arms, into your chest and your knees buckled slightly under the force. but you grit your teeth, stubbornly refusing to fall.
you quickly adjust your stance, the muscles in your legs trembling as you tried to balance. katsuki's hot gaze narrowed, a smirk of sorts splayed on his face.
"again!" he barked, stepping forward a bit to launch an attack. the wooden sword came at you in an arch, the force of his strike sending a jolt up your arms, and your grip slipped, leaving you with barely any time to parry.
"too slow!" he spat, his voice hitting you like a whip as he struck again, aiming for your side.
your flesh rippled as the flat end of the training sword connected with your ribs, knocking the air out of your lungs. you stumble back, clutching your side as you gasped for breath.
"your enemies won't show you mercy," he circled you, pacing, like a predator stalking it's prey. forcing air back into your aching lungs, you straightened yourself, salty sweat dripping down your brow to sting your eyes.
ragna tilted her head, observing, lips twitching to form a smile on her beautifully sculpted face as she translates your husband's words for you.
"again," you rasped, voice hoarse but determined to make him falter just once.
katsuki raised a brow, eyes narrowing at your resolve as he charged forward without another word, sword swooshing through the air.
stepping aside, you doged his strike as you brought your weapon up, aiming for his shoulder. katsukiโobviouslyโblocked effortlessly, the impact reverberating through your bones, but you pushed forward, pressing your advantage as your heart pounded in your chest.
your strikes came faster, more fluid, as though the rhythm of the fight was finally clicking into place. your arms burned with every effort to move them, your breaths coming in short, sharp gasps, as you kept fighting.
your husband's eyes gleamed with a vicious light, his lips curling into a wild, feral grin as he matched your pace, his movements precise and unrelenting as ever, pushing you to your limits.
every fiber of muscle in your body screamed in protest and katsuki's blade collided with yours once more, the clash nearly sending you to your knees. you grunted, planting your feet firmly in the dirt as you pushed back with all your strength.
katsuki's grin widened as he kicked you off balance, sprawling you out on the dirt field in under two seconds... you lay there for a moment, squinting up at the endless expanse of sky until the familiar, wild tuffs of blonde hair loomed over you, casting a shadow over your exhausted frame.
"get up," he ordered, offering no hand to help... you huffed a puff of breath, rolling onto your side to push yourself to your knees, the hard cracked earth grounding you as your muscles throbbed under your skin.
gods you wanted a bath right now... a nice, cold, spring water bath... wack! and you were on the ground again. "your mind isn't focused!" ragna cackled your husbands words, holding her stomach and covering her mouth in a feeble attempt to hide her amusement.
"you're getting better, my lady," she smiled, leaning over yourโonce againโsprawled out body on the ground. you brought a hand up to wipe the sweat off your forehead, "i'll die before the rebels get me," you laughed, a hoarse, gravelly sound scraping it's way out of your throat.
smoke curled lazily from the chimneys of the villagers homes. the smell of freshly baked bread mingled with the earthy aroma of tilled soil as the pang of the blacksmith's hammer rang in the distance, a rhythmic pulse that echoed like a heartbeat of the clan.
"are you sure about this, my lady?" ragna queried, a little skeptical as she stepped in stride beside you. you nod, assuring her of your decision, "if i'm to be part of this clan, ragna, i can't just sit at stronghold and watch," gaze sweeping over the bustling activity as you adjust your shawl around your shoulders.
ragna's plush lips cracked little smile at your determination. your first stop was the weaving circle, where several women sat on low stools, their fingers deftly threading wool into intricate patterns. their chatter hushed as you approached them.
the women exchanged awkward glances, muttering amongst themselves, before a middle aged woman with streaks of gray in her braid, gestured to an empty stool next to her, for you to sit.
the work was meticulous, the rhythm of the loom soothing your nerves as your fingers fumbled over the threads, earning quiet murmurs of disapproval from the others... the elder woman stood behind you, gently guiding your hands to correct any mistake, until she finally nodded her approval.
after weaving a few pieces of cloth, you moved to the fields, where men and women worked side by side, their hands covered in soil as they prepared the land for planting.
you knelt beside an old, wrinkled man, his gnarled hands moving with ease as he dug rows into the soil. he glanced down at you, brows furrowing as you picked up a tool and began to mimic his movements. he said nothing, slowing his movements for you to get a better look and follow.
"keep your back straight, my lady," ragna instructed, crouching beside you as she translated the old man's quiet words of advice.
sweat beaded on your brow as soil clung to your skin with each swing and dig, that sent a dull ache through your arms and back. the work was grueling, but with every row completed, you were closer to finishing and getting in your bath...
when night came, you found yourself in the kitchens, where women bustled about, preparing meals for the workers. the aroma of herbs and roasted meat overwhelmed your nostrils, as the heat of the ovens welcome you inside.
"hรฆ! รพรบ ert hรฉr! loksins hรฉr!" a young girl beamed, running over as she saw you enter. "she says, hello, you finally made it," ragna chuckled, patting the girl on her back. "รฉg er celeste," the young girl introduced herself, gently taking your hand in hers to guide you over to the bubbling cauldrons. "it seems she's excited to see you, my lady."
"it seems so," you giggle softly, at the girls eagerness.
-
"don't stir too much, or you'll ruin it," one of the cooks muttered, correcting your technique as she leaned over your shoulder.
ragna smirked, her translation tinged with amusement as she leaned closer. "you've been given a passable teacher, my lady," nudging your shoulder with her elbow as you playfully rolled your eyes.
the women around you began to soften their guarded expressions as they watched you work. they shared stories of past harvests, of children born and loved ones lost, their words painting a picture of a people as complex and enduring as the mountains that sheltered them.
by the time the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of amber and violets, you were exhausted. the day's labour lingered in your body, but the tension that had once filled the air around you, felt lighter.
upon your return to the stronghold, you saw katsuki waiting at the entrance, his arms crossed over his chest as he glanced at the little dirt, smudged on your face and clothes, and the weariness in your steps. an almost imperceptible smirk crawled over his thin lips as you walked up to him leaning against the stronghold's walls.
ragna stepped forward, translating his words, "you look like someone buried you alive," he snickered, his tone gruff, minus the usual edge to them. you shy away, looking at the ground.
he lifted your head by your chin to look at him, eyes drifting down to your chapped lips then back up to your tired eyes.
he kneeled down in front of you and you turn to ragna, "what is he- woah!" his fingers sink into the back of your thighs as your hip bones pressed into his beefy shoulder, with your ass on displayโnext to his faceโyou prop yourself up, your hands pushing against his flexing back muscles, as he walked with you through the giant wooden doors and up the stairs to your chambers.
his eyes flickered with something as he threw you over his shoulderโpride, perhaps, or respect?โadjusting your weight with a low grunt.
katsuki shoved the heavy doors of your chambers open with his free arm, carrying you inside without so much as a struggle. he set you down on your feet with surprising gentleness, with warm palms resting comfortably on your hips, his narrow crimson eyes scanned over your dirt-smeared frame.
"รพรบ ert skรญtug..." he muttered under his breath, his voice deep and laced with something you couldn't quite place. his expression was... unreadable as he motioned for you to stay put.
"what?" you whisper, softly shaking your head in confusion. he didn't respond, simply moving toward a small chest tucked away in the corner of your room. he rifled through it briefly before pulling out a clean linen cloth.
you watched him with a mix of curiosity and wariness as he stepped toward you again. he gestured at your dirtied clothing, the meaning clear even if his language wasn't.
"oh, i can do it myself," you insist, raising your hands defensively, though exhaustion made your movements sluggish. katsuki narrowed his eyes even more, with pinched brows. his patience visibly thinning...
"sitja kyrr," he commanded, firm as he gestured for you to stop resisting.
you huffed, crossing your arms in protest, legs trembling slightly under your weight, which didn't go unnoticed, his sharp gaze flicking to your unsteady stance before letting out a low grunt. without waiting for your permission, he stepped closer and began unfastening the ties of your shawl and outer layer.
"hey! i'm perfectly capable oโ" you started to argue, but he silenced you with a sharp glance and growled, "kyrr."
his fingers worked quickly but carefully, his rough hands brushing against your skin as he peeled away the layers of dirt-streaked fabric. you felt your cheeks heat as he removed the last of your garments, leaving you exposed to his unwavering gaze. he didn't leer or linger, though; his movements were efficient, his focus entirely on the task at hand.
once you were bare, he reached for the cloth and dipped it into the warm water waiting in the tub. he wrung it out, motioning for you to step closer. he brought the damp cloth up to your face, carefully rubbing the dirt stains off, he moved down your arms, to your chestโwhere your heart pounded against your ribsโrubbing down your torso, to your soft legs all the way down to your aching calves. it felt like he was scared he'd hurt you with the softness he used to clean you off.
"farรฐu," he said, gesturing to the stone tub, impatiently.
you hesitated for a moment, the language barrier making his commands more intimidating than they probably were. but the promise of warm water was too tempting to resist, and you eased yourself into the tub with a sigh of relief.
the heat soothed your aching muscles immediately, and you leaned back against the smooth stone, letting your eyes flutter shut. that peace was short-lived, however, as katsuki shed his clothing and stepped into the tub with you.
"waitโwhat are you doing?" you stammered, your face flushing as you quickly averted your gaze.
he ignored your meaningless words, his expression neutral as he settled in behind you. his hands found your shoulders, rough palms gliding over your smooth skin.
"katsuki, iโ" you started to protest, but his fingers pressed into a knot of tension in your shoulder, and you couldn't stop the sigh that escaped your lips. his hands were firm but careful, his touch surprisingly soothing as he continued his task.
"รพar," he murmured, his voice low and steady as if explaining something to you. you didn't understand the words, but the tone carried a strange reassurance, as though he was telling you to let him handle this.
you relaxed slightly under his touch, the tension in your body melting away with each pass of his hands. he moved methodically, scrubbing away whatever dirt that'd been clinging to your skin and hair. when his hands found their way to your back, you leaned forward, giving him better access.
it wasn't until his fingers brushed over the curve of your waist that the atmosphere in the bath... changed... his touch lingered just a moment too long, his fingers pressing lightly against your skin as though testing your reaction.
you turned your head to glance at him over your shoulder, your breath catching when you caught the intensity in his gaze, his vermilion eyes burning with a heat that matched the warmth of the water surrounding you both.
"is something wrong?" you murmured, your voice barely above a whisper.
he didn't replyโnot with words, at least. instead, he leaned closer, his hand moving to cup your jaw as his lips brushed against yours in a tentative but firm kiss.
your initial surprise melted away as the kiss deepened, the heat between you both growing as his hand slid to the back of your neck, pulling you closer. the water lapped gently against the edges of the tub, the only sound in the quiet chamber besides your mingled breaths.
when you finally pulled away, your heart was racing, as your face flushed from more than just the warmth of the bath. katsuki's lips parted as if to speak, but the words never came. instead, he rested his forehead against yours, his breaths coming slow and steady as if grounding himself.
"รฉg hef eitthvaรฐ handa รพรฉr." he rasped as you leaned into him again. what on earth did he just say? you have absolutely no idea... but you'll ask ragna after your bath.
โ.๏ฝก.:*โ.๏ฝก.:*โ
katsuki had dragged you out of bed at the crack of dawn and brought you out into the forest, in the outskirts of the stronghold, which was eerily quiet, save for the rustle of leaves and the occasional snaps of twigs underfoot. katsuki walked ahead, his broad frame cutting through the bramble with ease. you followed cautiously, your breath visible in the crisp morning air. he hadn't spoken muchโif at allโsince dragging you out of bed and motioning for you to come with.
now, the towering trees gave way to the dark mouth of a cave. its yawning entrance loomed before you, cold air seeping out like a ghostly warning. you hesitated, turning to katsuki by your side.
"komdu," he barked over his shoulder, the command abrupt but not by any means harsh.
still, unease prickled at your skin. you stepped into the cave, following him into the deepening darkness. the light from the entrance grew faint as you moved further in, swallowed by shadows that seemed to press against you.
"katsuki?" you whisper, but he offered no reply, only a grunt as he suddenly stopped, causing you to bump into his back with a mphf.
before you could question him, the ground vibrated beneath your feet, a low rumble echoing through the cavern, resonating in your chest. then, two massive orbs of glowing crimson pierced the darkness ahead, locking onto you with a huff.
your breath caught in your throat, as the rumbling grew louder, accompanied by the sound of scales shifting against each other. a massive head emerged from the shadows, scales shimmering faintly in the dim light. the dragon's maw opened, revealing rows of sharp teeth as it let out a deep, guttural growl.
"รพetta er hann," katsuki said, gesturing to the creature with an almost casual wave.
you gaped at him, words escaping your brain. a dragon? you weren't sure what you had expected, but it certainly wasn't a fucking dragon.
"what is that?" your voice came out as a weak murmur, tinged with both awe and terror. you had to make sure you weren't seeing or hearing things...
"drengr minn," katsuki replied, based on the look on your face, stepping closer to the dragon and placing a hand against its massive snout, the beast huffed, as if in acknowledgment.
your legs threatened to give out as katsuki turned to you, motioning for you to come closer. you shook your head, frozen in place.
"komdu hingaรฐ," he called, his voice firm.
reluctantly, you stepped forward, your pulse thundering in your ears. the dragon's gaze followed you, unblinking and intense. when you were close enough, katsuki grabbed your hand and placed it against the warm, rough scales of the dragon's snout.
the beast rumbled again. it was almost... a purr.
"ekki hrรฆdd," katsuki muttered, his voice softer now, though it still carried their usual edge.
katsuki pulled himself up onto the dragon's back, his movements sure and practiced. he extended a hand to you, waiting. you hesitated, but the weight of his expectationโand the dragon's unyielding stareโleft you with little choice. with a deep breath, you grasped his hand and allowed him to pull you up and plop you down in front of him.
the dragon shifted beneath you, its massive body uncoiling as it prepared to take off. your hands instinctively grip katsuki's forearms, your heart hammering in your chest.
without warning, the dragon launched itself out of the cave and into the sky with an ear piercing roar, as you screamed your lungs out.
the ground fell away beneath you, the wind tearing at your hair and clothes as the beast's wings beat powerfully. for a moment, fear threatened to consume you. but then the view unfolded around youโthe sprawling forest below, the endless expanse of sky above, and the distant peaks of mountains on the horizon.
your grip on katsuki tightened as the dragon banked to the left, the motion sending a thrilling jolt through your body. he turned your head slightly, a faint smirk playing on his lips as he barked something over the wind. though you didn't understand him, his tone was definitely teasing, almost amused by the expression on your face.
slowly, the fear ebbed, replaced by a tentative awe. the dragon's movements were surprisingly smooth, its powerful wings carrying you effortlessly through the sky.
"oh my gods," you murmured, your voice barely audible over the wind.
he glanced down, raising an eyebrow in question.
"this is..." you trailed off, searching for the words. "unbelievable," you grin, your mouth drying out with the wind.
he didn't reply, but his smirk widened, his chest puffing slightly with pride as though he understood you.
as the dragon soared higher, you found yourself loosening your grip just enough to look around, as katsuki snakes a strong arm around your waist to keep you from falling over. the world seemed smaller from this height, a patchwork of green and brown stitched together by rivers of silver. for a brief moment, you forgot your fear, your uncertainty, and the weight of everything that had brought you here.
when the dragon began its descent, the rush of air grew fiercer, and your grip on katsuki returned. he muttered something under his breath, seemily reassuring you of something.
by the time you landed, your legs felt like jelly, and your heart hadn't yet stopped racing. katsuki dismounted first, extending a hand to help you down.
you took it, your knees wobbling as your feet touched the ground. "รพรบ stรณรฐst รพig vel," katsuki rasped, low and seemingly approving.
-
your body vibrated with excitement as you stood outside the stronghold, feeling the cool breeze brushing against your skin. today, is the beginning of your journey back to your kingdom.
katsuki, stoic as ever, walked with his dragon, its massive form thumping its way around. the beast moved like molten lava, each muscle rippling under crimson scales as it emerged fully into the sunlight, its fiery red eyes scanned the clearing as it's massive body cast a long shadow on the ground.
katsuki turned to you, his intense gaze holding a question.
"farรฐu upp," he urged, gesturing to the dragon's massive back.
you hesitated, your stomach knotting at the memory of the flight earlier. while breathtaking, it had also been utterly terrifying.
"i'm not sure i can do that again," you confessed, nervously laughing as you shook your head in refusal, "i'll stick with the tetsugami."
he frowned, his brows knitting together in mild frustration. "ekki vera veik," he snapped, though the edge in his tone softened slightly as he stepped closer. "รพรบ lifรฐir รพaรฐ รกรฐur."
"you do know that i have not the faintest idea of what you're saying..." you counter, looking him up and down, crossing your arms.
he stared at you for a brief second, his lips fixing into a scowl. after a moment, he let out an irritated breath and muttered something to himself.
he motioned for the dragon to stay put, his sharp whistle echoing through the clearing. the beast settled onto its haunches, its wings furling tightly against its sides as it let out a snort. katsuki didn't argue further, instead taking a few purposeful steps towards you.
"รฉg mun horfa ofan frรก." he grumbled, the words curt but resigned.
you furrowed your brow, piecing together his meaning. he wasn't thrilled, but he accepted your refusal.
hours later, preparations for the journey were complete. you stood at the edge of the stronghold, the weight of the coming trip settling over you.
in the thick of the tall trees, a sound of heavy, slow and deliberate footsteps, accompanied by a metallic scrape that sent delightful shivers up your spine, echoed.
you avert your gaze from your husband, and toward the noise coming from behind them. your eyes widened as the tetsugami emerged into view. it's rust-red carapace glinting in the sunlight like aged armor. it's body was crab-like in shape with a wide, flat shell that curved protectively over it's back.
it's seven remaining legs, each the width of a tree trunk, moved with surprising grace despite the size and weight of the creature. the absence of its front right leg didn't seem to hinder it's movements; it's gait was steady, with powerful legs sinking into the soil with each step, leaving deep impressions behind. its pinchers clacked excitedly as it shifted its weight, the sound reverberating like distant thunder as its antennae twitched, scanninng the air for potential threats, while it's small, bead-like eyes glimmered with an eerie intelligence.
strapped to it's surface were supplies for the journeyโbarrels of provisions, rolled up tents, and neatly stacked crates secured with thick leather straps.
"รพetta er tetsugami," mitsuki stood proud, her voice calm and matter-of-fact. you turned toward her, recognizing the words enough to know she was introducing the creature. her expression softened as she gestured to the beast, inviting you to approach.
you hesitated, glancing back at katsuki, who was already climbing onto his dragon's back. his crimson eyes met yours briefly before he turned his focus to his mount, silently leaving you to make your own choice.
you stepped closer to the tetsugami, its sheer size making you feel small in comparisonโas if the huge people you now live with weren't enough... its mandibles clicked rhythmically, a surprisingly soothing sound as you placed a tentative hand on the edge of its shell. the surface was rough and cool, like weathered stone, but it radiated a subtle warmth from the sunlight it absorbed.
"he's beautiful," you murmured, more to yourself than anyone else.
the tetsugami let out a low, resonant humโa sound that rumbled deep in its body, vibrating through your fingertips, like a contented purr, and it made you smile.
ragna approached from the side, her brows arching in surprise as she took in the sight of the beast. "quite the creature, isn't it?" she said, though her tone carried an air of caution.
you turned to her with a grin, "ride with me," you offered, gesturing to the sturdy harness slung across the tetsugami's shell.
ragna hesitated, her gaze flicking between you and the creature. "the tetsugami is only brought out for important people, my lady-"
"you are important," you insisted, taking her hands in yours, your voice soft and earnest, "it's a long journey, and i'd feel better having you by my side."
ragna's lips pressed into a thin line, her expression conflicted for a moment before she nodded, "v-very well," she gave in, sighing as you clapped to yourself.
with mitsuki's help, you climbed onto the tetsugami's back, settling into the cushioned saddle fastened securely near the center. the saddle was surprisingly comfortable, with a wide padded seat, designed for stability. ragna joined you, careful as she adjusted her position beside you.
the tetsugami let out another hum, chittering as it adjusted to the added weight. its antennae twitched again, and it began to move, its legs carrying it forward with a deliberate, swaying rhythm.
as the caravan set off, the sounds of boots crunching against dirt and the occasional clang of weapons accompanied the steady thuds of the giant crab's steps, broke the silence. the missing leg added an uneven cadence to its movements, a faint scrape with every third step that served as a reminder of its battle-scarred history.
katsuki's dragon took to the skies with a powerful leap, its wings slicing through the air as it ascended, leaving the rest of you to follow below.
