Rewatched Thunderbolts* and I still stand on this, and with it fresh in my mind again, I can say that imo, the Thunderbolts are definitely Bucky’s coworkers, I think everyone else connected with each other more than Bucky did with them, I need Marvel to give him Sam (and co.) back in Doomsday

I love people making Heated Rivalry aesthetic edits with other ships and saying that ‘this is their heated rivalry’ but the ship is either dead, broken up, queerbaited and/or fanon 😭

Meanwhile Hollanov is canon, alive and well, at the height of their careers and are married with a dog 🙂‍↕️ if the movie/show rec that is supposedly better than Hollanov doesn’t have these elements I fear it’s not better 💀

However, I think the closest canon wise I can think of is Malec! Which I know they were basically smitten from the get-go, BUT that’s the point of Heated Rivalry, there’s no rivalry, and a Shadowhunter and a Warlock you would think 👀 but they also end up alive & married with kids while both are successful!

I think what a lot of people are missing on the “why Heated Rivalry has had such a huge impact” is that the characters are ACTUALLY TOGETHER and happily!!!

The point of the ‘rivalry’ is that they were never genuinely rivals as they’ve been together on and off the whole time spanning 10 years and the rivalry is only from the media’s perspective as nobody knows they’re gay and bisexual.

The movies & shows that have two same sex characters kiss one time and proceed to move on, or the impossible years of seasons long queerbaited couple the whole time….come on now. Those are NOT “Heated Rivalry before Heated Rivalry”

Those are let downs.

For instance, I’ve seen this said about Challengers a lot in comparison to HR??? And I personally find that laughable. That’s like comparing a puddle to a pond. One make out session vs full on getting it on for 2 episodes, love confessions, intimacy, hardships of being in the closet, the fear of being in love portrayed, internalized homophobia to acceptance, good coming out of the closet rep.

Heated Rivalry from the get go did that shit. They did it explicitly and emotionally, and the actors and crew put their all into the characters and storylines. The major plots and subplots for main & side characters on the show are lgbt related. I love a good fanon ship that should’ve been canon as much as the next person on ao3 but that does not mean it’s canon and we have a great show that actually had the guts to do what we’ve wanted as its main premise. We deserve to watch movies and shows where we can see ourselves in characters that get their happy ending, tragic media is important but I yearn for the happy stories more.

I’m gonna need more wlw rep from Hollywood on my ipad by 8am tmrw tho
