The Monarch of Destruction had fallen.
The world was saved.
And Sung Jin-Woo stood amidst the ruins, victorious, yet hollow inside.
Because somewhere deep in his soul, even as the cheers of humanity roared around him, something was missing.
Someone was missing.
Someone whose face he could barely remember anymore, like a dream slipping through his fingers.
Y/N.
The name echoed inside him like a prayer he couldnât forget.
When he had taken the power of the Shadow Monarch and turned back time, sacrificing his past life to give humanity another chance, he thought maybe⌠just maybe⌠he could fix everything.
He thought he could find you.
Hold you.
Never let you slip away again.
But no matter where he searched in this rewound world, you were gone.
You were nowhere.
He walked the streets you used to love.
He called out your name into the empty nights.
No one knew you.
No one had ever heard of you.
It was as if you had been erased from existence itself.
One evening, after days of searching that bled into months, he sat alone on a bench in a quiet park, the same place you once waited for him after missions.
He buried his face into his hands, the weight of his failure pressing down on him.
"Where are you, Y/N?" he whispered.
Only the wind answered.
Memories flickered behind his eyes, your smiles, your laughter, the way you used to look at him like he was more than just a hunter, more than just a weapon.
And then, something surfaced from the depths of his mind.
A memory.
A conversation he hadnât thought much about at the time.
"Jin-Woo," you had said one evening, your voice low and hesitant, "what if I told you⌠I already know how everything will end?"
He had laughed, brushing it off.
"You sound like you're telling a prophecy."
You had smiled sadly, a heartbreaking smile he hadn't understood then.
"Maybe I am."
"Don't joke about that."
"I'm serious," you whispered. "One day, youâll become the strongest. Youâll save the world. ButâŚ"
"But?" he asked.
You had turned away, hiding your face.
"But I wonât be there to see it."
At the time, he thought you were just being dramatic.
He hadnât known.
He hadnât listened.
Now, sitting in the aftermath of a war only he remembered, Sung Jin-Woo realized the terrible truth.
You had known.
You had always known.
Because you were never meant to stay.
You were not from this world.
You had come from somewhere else, another reality, another time, just to walk by his side for a while.
To help him survive.
To love him when no one else would.
And then⌠you had vanished, because the world you had known was rewritten, and there was no place for you in this second chance.
He pressed a trembling hand to his chest, where an invisible scar pulsed with every beat of his heart.
A wound no healing magic could touch.
Days later, Jin-Woo stood by the Han River, where the city lights shimmered against the dark waters.
He held the small pendant you had once given him, the only proof you had ever existed. Somehow, it had remained even after the timeline reset, tucked away in his storage, untouched by time.
He closed his eyes and spoke into the empty night:
"I was too late, wasnât I?"
The pendant glinted softly in his palm, like a tear frozen in silver.
"I shouldâve seen you," he whispered. "I should've known."
The wind swept past him, carrying the faintest whisper, so soft he almost thought he imagined it.
"Iâm proud of you, Jin-Woo."
His heart broke all over again.
Tears slid down his cheeks, silent, unrelenting.
He fell to his knees by the riverbank, clutching the pendant against his heart, and for the first time in years, Sung Jin-Woo, the strongest hunter, the savior of humanity, wept like a boy who had lost his whole world.
Because he had.
You had been his world.
And now, you were only a ghost in his memories, a love story that the universe itself refused to remember.
Somewhere, in the spaces between worlds, you smiled softly, even as your own form faded.
"Thank you for living, Jin-Woo."
"Even if I was never meant to stay."

The night was heavy with the weight of your heartbeat as you stood before him.
Sung Jin-Woo.
The boy you had loved silently.
The man you had fought beside.
The one you had seen at his weakest, at his rawest â and had stayed anyway.
You clutched the small pendant in your hand, fingers trembling. It wasnât anything fancy â just a token, a simple charm you had bought, hoping one day you could give it to him.
That night, under the pale streetlights outside the Guild building, you found the courage you had buried for so long.
"Jin-WooâŚ" you began, your voice almost swallowed by the chilly wind.
He turned to you, looking effortlessly beautiful under the moonlight, his dark hair tousled, those deep eyes soft but unreadable.
"IâŚ" you inhaled shakily, gathering every shattered piece of your heart. "I like you. Noâ I love you. I've loved you for a long time."
Silence.
You laughed nervously, trying to ease the heavy air. "I know youâre busy⌠with dungeons and everything. But I justâ I just needed you to know. Iâll wait for you. No matter how long it takes."
For a moment, Jin-Woo just stared at you.
Then, with a voice that was painfully gentle, he spoke.
"Iâm sorry, Y/N."
You blinked.
"I canât," he said, looking away. "I need to focus on the dungeons. I have too many responsibilities. I donât have time for⌠dating right now."
Your heart cracked, but you forced a smile.
"I⌠understand," you whispered.
And you meant it. You wanted to understand. You wanted to believe he wasn't rejecting you â he was rejecting the idea of dating anyone, right?
You bowed your head, hiding the tears that blurred your vision. "Good night, Jin-Woo."
Without waiting for his response, you turned and walked away, each step heavier than the last.
A week later, you saw the news.
It was plastered everywhere â on your phone, on the TV screens in shops, on the lips of the hunters around you.
"S-Rank Hunters Sung Jin-Woo and Chae Hae-In Seen Together at Carnival!"
"The Nationâs Strongest New Couple?"
"Jin-Woo and Hae-In Spotted Holding Hands!"
The photos were undeniable.
There he was â Jin-Woo â smiling, laughing.
Looking at Hae-In like she was the only thing that mattered in the world.
Your heart froze.
No⌠no, this couldnât be real.
You gripped your phone tightly, staring at the image of him â your Jin-Woo â gazing at someone else the way you had only dreamed he would look at you.
And the words he said to you just days ago echoed in your mind.
"I don't have time for dating right now."
Lie.
It was a lie.
He just didnât have time for you.
Because you were nothing but a shadow in his life.
An afterthought.
While Chae Hae-In stood beside him like she belonged there â beautiful, powerful, perfect.
You?
You were just⌠Y/N.
Ordinary. Forgettable.
You sank to the floor, the cold tile biting through your clothes, but the real pain was inside you â sharp, vicious, consuming.
You cried until there was nothing left but broken pieces.
Time passed, but the wounds never healed.
You stopped going to the Guild as often.
Stopped answering his texts â the ones that became fewer and fewer until they stopped altogether.
You thought Jin-Woo would be happy with Hae-In. That he would live the life he deserved.
And maybe he did.
But then⌠you disappeared.
No goodbye. No explanation.
You faded from his life the same way you had always been in it: quietly, unnoticed.
It wasnât until months later that he realized something was missing.
At first, he didnât notice. Chae Hae-In was always there, smiling sweetly, her hand fitting easily into his. It was comfortable. It was expected.
But then there were the small moments.
When he came back bloodied from a dungeon, and no one scolded him in that soft, worried voice.
When he woke from a nightmare and no one sat by his bed until he fell asleep again.
When he succeeded, and no one was there clapping louder than anyone else, pride shining in their eyes.
He started to notice the empty spaces you left behind.
"Where's Y/N?" he asked one day, after a particularly brutal raid.
No one could answer him.
He tried to brush it off. Maybe you were busy. Maybe you needed time.
But the nagging feeling grew and grew, until it was all he could think about.
One evening, unable to bear it anymore, he went to your apartment.
He knocked.
No answer.
He called your number.
Disconnected.
Panic clawed at him.
He realized then â you were really gone.
And with that realization came another â heavier, crueler.
He remembered your confession. The way your voice had trembled. The way you had smiled even as your heart shattered.
"I'll wait for you. No matter how long it takes."
And heâŚ
He had crushed that hope beneath his feet without a second thought.
Tears he hadnât even known he was holding back burned his eyes.
He remembered everything now â every small kindness, every moment you had stood by him when no one else did. Every time you had loved him when he couldnât even love himself.
He remembered, and it destroyed him.
Because he had chosen someone else.
Because when you needed him to see you, he looked away.
Because when you finally dared to hope, he gave you a lie.
"I need to focus on dungeons."
What a cowardâs excuse.
He just hadnât thought you were enough.
And now you were gone.
In the following weeks, he looked for you.
Everywhere.
He asked other hunters, checked hospitals, even went to the places you used to visit together.
Nothing.
You had vanished completely from his world.
Like you had never been there at all.
And maybe, he thought bitterly, he deserved that.
Maybe this was the punishment for realizing too late what he had lost.
For not loving you when you deserved it most.
One night, sitting alone on a rooftop overlooking the city you both used to walk through, he whispered into the cold night:
"Y/N⌠I'm sorry."
The wind carried his words away, but you were not there to hear them.

I suggest listening to this song as you read this one-shot story.
The campus library at midnight was the perfect hiding spot for secrets. Dim lighting, the low hum of the heaters, and complete isolationâit felt like another world.
I sat at my usual corner table, pretending to focus on the mess of notes and tabs open on my laptop.
In reality, I couldnât focus on anything but him. James, leaning casually against a bookshelf across the room, was pretending to read a book.
But I could feel his eyes on me, burning like a touch I couldnât ignore.
We hated each other.
At least, thatâs what everyone believed. Itâs what we wanted them to believe.
But the charged glances, the stolen moments, the sharp smirksâthey told a story no one else was allowed to know.
When James finally moved, his slow, deliberate steps drawing closer, I forced myself to keep typing.
I wouldnât give him the satisfaction of noticing him first.
He slid into the chair across from me, his signature infuriating grin plastered across his face.
âYou look tense, Y/N,â he said, his voice low and teasing. âMaybe you should take a break. Let me help you unwind.â
I barely glanced at him, keeping my tone sharp.
âIâd rather fail.â
âOuch,â he said, feigning offense. Then he leaned forward, dropping his voice so only I could hear.
âYou didnât seem so cold the other night.â
My hand froze mid-gesture. I glared up at him, heat rushing to my face.
âJamesââ
âRelax,â he cut me off, pulling his phone from his pocket. His smirk widened.
âYou know,â he said, his voice dripping with mockery, âcall me when you need it. Would you be my little secret?â
I froze, my pulse roaring in my ears.
âSeriously?â I hissed, glancing around the library to ensure no one heard him.
âWhat?â he replied innocently, leaning back in his chair.
âItâs our song.â
âShut up,â I muttered, feeling the warmth creep up my neck.
But the damage was already done.
My mind betrayed me, replaying the moment heâd whispered those same words against my skin, his lips trailing fire along my collarbone.
Two hours later, just as I was about to call it a night, my phone buzzed.
James: Study lounge. Now.
I shouldâve ignored it. I shouldâve stayed in my dorm.
Instead, my fingers betrayed me.
Me: Bossy much?
James: You like it.
I slipped into the dimly lit study lounge, my heart pounding.
He was already there, leaning casually against the wall, his hoodie pulled low.
When I shut the door, his eyes found mine, his lips curling into a maddeningly smug smile.
âYouâre late,â he said.
âYouâre lucky I came at all.â
He chuckled, stepping closer.
âOh, you always come when I call, Y/N.â
âGet over yourself, James.â
My tone was sharp, but my words had no bite.
He closed the space between us, his hand finding my waist like it belonged there.
My breath caught as his other hand pressed against the wall beside my head.
âAdmit it,â he murmured, his voice low.
âYouâve been thinking about this all day.â
âYouâre delusional,â I shot back, though my voice trembled.
âAm I?â His lips hovered over mine, close enough to make me ache.
âBecause I think youâve been imagining thisâme, you, no one else around.â
I hated how easily he unraveled me, how the sharp edges of our rivalry blurred under his touch.
âYouâre too cocky,â I whispered, my hands gripping the front of his hoodie.
âAnd you love it,â he murmured, his lips brushing mine but holding back just enough to drive me insane.
It was always a game with Jamesâpushing, pulling, seeing whoâd give in first.
Tonight, it was me.
I closed the distance, my lips crashing into his.
The kiss was hot, urgent, and demanding.
He responded immediately, his hand tightening on my waist, pulling me closer.
His teeth grazed my bottom lip, and I gasped, giving him the opening he wanted.
He deepened the kiss, his intensity leaving me breathless.
My hands slipped under his hoodie, my nails grazing his skin. He groaned, his lips leaving mine to trail down my jaw.
âGod, Y/N,â he rasped, his voice rough and unsteady.
âYou drive me insane.â
âGood,â I said, though my words were softened by the way my body pressed against his.
âTell me,â he murmured against my skin, his lips brushing my ear.
âWould you be my little secret?â
My breath hitched as his hands slid under my sweater, his touch igniting every nerve in my body.
âIf you keep talking like that,â I whispered,
âIâm going to regret this.â
But we both knew it was a lie.
Our rivalry was just a game.
In the daylight, weâd tear each other apart in class, throw insults, and fight for first place.
But at night, behind locked doors and silenced phones, we were something else.
A secret. A perfect fit. And one neither of us could resist.

Halloween night always seemed to bring out the bolder sides of everyone, but this year, Iâd gone all out. My reflection stared back at me, almost unrecognizable in the sultry succubus outfit Iâd chosen. The crimson dress hugged my body like a second skin, accentuating every curve, with a plunging neckline that left little to the imagination. The dark, delicate lace traced down to my waist, drawing the eye down the shapely line of my hips. Black thigh-high boots added just enough edge to the look, and the horns perched on my head gave me an unmistakably wicked air.
I felt powerful. Dangerous. And I couldnât stop thinking of him.
I knew Gun would be at the party, and I had to admit, Iâd chosen this outfit hoping it would get a rise out of him. Heâd always been a bit of an enigma to meâa constant tension between us that simmered beneath every glance and every fleeting touch. Tonight, I wanted to push those boundaries, to see just how much fire lay under his cool demeanor.
When I stepped into the main room, the music and laughter surrounded me, but all I could feel was his gaze. It was like a pull, drawing me to him across the crowd. His eyes raked over me, taking in every inch of the outfitâmy bare shoulders, the dangerously high slit up my thigh, the bold neckline. I could see the shift in his expression, from his usual confident smirk to something darker⌠more intense.
He made his way toward me, and with every step closer, my pulse quickened. By the time he reached me, I felt like I was on fire. He didnât waste any time, slipping an arm around my waist and pulling me flush against him. The feel of his fingers pressing against my lower back, his touch warm even through the thin fabric, made my skin tingle.
âDid you wear this just for me?â he murmured, his voice a low growl that vibrated through me. His eyes roamed over the succubus outfit, lingering on the neckline, the delicate lace, the bare skin.
I bit my lip, fighting to keep my voice steady. âMaybe,â I teased, lifting my chin to meet his gaze. âDo you like it?â
His hand traced the line of my spine, lingering at the curve of my waist, and I couldnât help the sharp intake of breath. âLike doesnât even begin to cover it,â he replied, his tone heavy, almost possessive. He leaned in, his lips so close to my ear that I could feel his breath. âYouâre playing a dangerous game, you know.â
I shivered, but I wasnât about to back down. âMaybe I want to,â I whispered back, a hint of a challenge in my voice.
That was all it took. He pressed me back against the wall, his fingers tangling in my hair as his mouth found mine. The kiss was hot, intense, leaving no room for doubt about what he wanted. His hands moved with purpose, tracing the edges of my outfit as if memorizing every detail, every curve. I could feel his fingers toying with the lace trim at my hips, his touch sending sparks down my spine.
âYouâre impossible to resist in this,â he murmured, voice husky as his gaze moved from my lips to the plunging neckline. His hands drifted lower, slipping under the fabric to find bare skin. My heart raced as he leaned in, lips brushing the curve of my neck, leaving a trail of heat in their wake.
âIs this your idea of a trick or treat?â I managed to whisper, barely holding back a gasp as his hands tightened on my waist.
Gunâs dark eyes met mine, his mouth curving into a dangerously wicked smile. âOh, trust me, Y/N, this is just the beginning.â
I barely had time to catch my breath before he pulled me deeper into the shadows, his hands sliding over every inch of the sinful succubus costume. Every touch, every teasing graze sent jolts of pleasure through me, and I could feel myself melting under his touch. Iâd worn this outfit hoping to get a reaction, but nothing could have prepared me for the way his hands felt against my skin, for the low growl of his voice in my ear.

The night air was thick with music and the low hum of conversation as I sat alone in the corner of a bar I didnât normally go to. But tonight, I felt restless, like something was missing, something I needed without fully understanding what it was.
And then he walked in.
Gun. Iâd heard about himâa name that carried weight, whispered around town with an equal measure of awe and warning. He was the kind of guy who made peopleâs hearts race for all the wrong reasons, the kind of guy your friends warned you about but secretly couldnât resist. He had that look, that intimidating, menacing aura, as if he owned every room he walked into. I was just another face in the crowd, but when his eyes met mine, I felt the spark.
He didnât hesitate, didnât waver. In a matter of seconds, he was standing at my side, leaning casually against the bar, like heâd known Iâd be there waiting for him.
âYou look like you could use some company,â he murmured, voice smooth as whiskey, low enough that only I could hear.
I raised an eyebrow, meeting his gaze with a challenge. âAnd you look like you have a habit of saying things girls want to hear.â
He chuckled, an amused gleam in his eyes. âI donât say things just to be nice.â His hand slid onto the bar beside me, his fingers brushing mine ever so slightly, sending a thrill through me. I couldnât deny itâthere was something about him that made me want to lean in, test him, see just how far he was willing to go.
âIs that so?â I asked, trying to keep my voice steady, though my pulse was racing. âWhat makes you think Iâd be interested in the bad-boy routine?â
His eyes flicked over me, slowly, deliberately. âItâs not a routine. Itâs just who I am.â
He was closer now, and I could feel the heat radiating off him. The scent of his cologne was intoxicating, dark and earthy, making my thoughts blur. Part of me wanted to pull back, to remind myself that I should know better. But a stronger part of me wanted to see what would happen if I didnât.
âBad boys are fun, Iâll give you that,â I said, trying to sound casual, though I could hear the tremor in my own voice. âBut they never stick around.â
He leaned in closer, his hand brushing lightly over my waist, his fingers resting just long enough to make my breath hitch. âWho says I plan on leaving?â
My heart pounded, every nerve in my body on high alert. His gaze was intense, piercing, and I could feel my cheeks flushing. I swallowed, meeting his eyes with a confidence that surprised even me. âActions speak louder than words,â I challenged, holding his gaze.
âOh, sweetheart,â he murmured, a grin playing at the edge of his mouth, âIâm all about actions.â
And in one smooth motion, he took my hand, leading me out of the bar without another word. The street outside was dim, the faint glow of the streetlamp casting us in shadows as he pulled me into a secluded corner. My breath caught as he turned to face me, his hand sliding down to rest on my hip, warm and possessive. His thumb traced a slow, teasing circle there, sending shivers through me.
He tilted his head, his face so close I could feel his breath on my skin. His eyes lingered on my lips, his gaze flicking up to meet mine. âStill testing me, Y/N?â he asked, his voice low, a teasing glint in his eyes.
I felt my heart stutter, my pulse quickening as my fingers grazed his collar, pulling him closer, almost on instinct. âYouâre the one who said actions speak louder,â I whispered, barely able to keep my voice steady.
A smirk tugged at his lips. âCareful what you wish for.â
And then he kissed me.
The world fell away as his mouth claimed mine, fierce and demanding, leaving no room for hesitation. His hand tightened on my waist, pulling me flush against him, his body hard and unyielding. My hands found their way into his hair, fingers tangling in the dark strands as he deepened the kiss, his lips moving against mine with a hunger that sent heat pooling low in my stomach.
His hands slid up my back, one slipping beneath the fabric of my shirt, his fingers warm against my skin, making me gasp into his mouth. He took the opportunity, his tongue sweeping against mine, sending a jolt of electricity through me that made my knees weak. His free hand cupped my face, thumb tracing my cheek, rough and gentle all at once, leaving me breathless.
The cool night air was a sharp contrast to the heat radiating between us, and I could feel every touch, every press of his body against mine, as if he was branding himself into my skin. His mouth left mine, trailing down to my jaw, his lips pressing hot, open-mouthed kisses along the sensitive skin of my neck. I could barely hold back the small, breathless sounds escaping me, my hands clutching his shoulders as he worked his way down to the hollow of my throat, each touch leaving a trail of fire in its wake.
His lips hovered just below my ear, his breath hot against my skin. âYou taste even better than I imagined,â he whispered, his voice rough, a wicked promise in his tone.
I shivered, my hands clinging to him, desperate to keep him close. âMaybe Iâve wanted you to find out,â I murmured back, surprised by the boldness of my own words.
He grinned, pulling back just enough to look at me, his eyes dark and smoldering. âOh, I plan to,â he said, his voice barely more than a whisper, his gaze holding mine as if he were daring me to stop him.
But I didnât want to stop him. Not now, not after feeling the heat of his touch, the weight of his gaze. He leaned in again, capturing my mouth in a kiss that was slower this time, deeper, his hands roaming over my body with a reverence that felt almost possessive. He kissed me like he wanted to consume me, like he wanted to leave no part of me untouched, no inch unexplored.
His hands trailed down my sides, his fingers tracing patterns that left me breathless, each touch deliberate, calculated, as if he knew exactly what it would do to me. My skin was on fire, every nerve alight with a desire that was quickly unraveling me.
With a smirk, he pulled back slightly, his lips grazing my ear. âI told you, sweetheart,â he murmured, his voice low and teasing. âBad boys donât just go to heaven. We bring it to you.â
I couldnât help but smile, breathless and dizzy, and in that moment, I knew I was in troubleâthe best kind of trouble.

Dohwa never thought much about his job at the laundrymat. It was just a way to earn some extra money while he focused on his studies. But everything changed the day he noticed Y/N. She was a regular customer, always coming in on Saturdays with a smile that could light up the room.
'Who is she?' Dohwa wondered every time he saw her. There was something about Y/N that drew him in, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
One Saturday, as he struggled with a heavy basket, Y/N rushed over to help him. Their hands brushed, and Dohwa felt a jolt of electricity. He looked up and met her eyes, feeling his cheeks heat up.
"Thank you," he said, trying to keep his voice steady.
"No problem," Y/N replied, her own cheeks tinged with pink. "I come here every Saturday, so if you ever need help, just let me know."
'She's so kind,' Dohwa thought, watching her walk away. 'Maybe a fangirl or something.'
Weeks passed, and Dohwa found himself looking forward to Saturdays more than ever. Y/N's presence made his shifts at the laundromat enjoyable. But one day, everything changed. He was hanging out with Su Ae, a friend he had a crush on, when he noticed Y/N watching them from a distance. Her expression was unreadable, but Dohwa felt a pang of guilt.
'Does she think there's something between me and Su Ae?' he wondered. He didn't have time to dwell on it, though, as Su Ae soon made it clear that she didn't see him that way.
From that day on, Y/N began to distance herself from him. She still came to the laundromat, but their conversations were brief and awkward. Dohwa noticed the change but assumed Y/N was just having a bad day.
'Maybe she's going through something,' he thought, deciding not to press her about it.
One rainy Saturday, Dohwa sat alone in the laundromat, feeling the weight of Su Ae's rejection. He tried to focus on his work, but his mind kept drifting back to Y/N. Suddenly, she was there, her presence like a ray of sunshine on a gloomy day.
"Hey, are you okay?" she asked gently.
Dohwa looked up, his eyes red from crying. "Su Ae rejected me," he confessed, his voice breaking.
Y/N's expression softened, and she sat beside him, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I'm so sorry, Dohwa. But it's going to be okay. You're an amazing person, and you'll find someone who sees that."
'Why does she care so much?' Dohwa wondered, feeling a warmth spread through his chest. "Thank you, Y/N. You always know how to make me feel better."
As the weeks went by, Dohwa and Y/N grew closer. He found himself looking forward to their conversations and the way she made him feel understood. One evening, as they walked home from the laundromat, Dohwa stopped and turned to Y/N.
"Y/N, there's something I need to tell you."
Y/N's eyes widened with curiosity. "What is it?"
"I've realized that I've been blind to what's been in front of me all along," Dohwa said, taking her hands in his. "Y/N, I have feelings for you. You've always been there for me, and I can't imagine my life without you."
Y/N's eyes sparkled with joy. "Dohwa, I feel the same way. I've liked you for so long."
Dohwa smiled and pulled her into a gentle hug. "I'm so glad to hear that."
From that day on, Dohwa and Y/N's relationship blossomed. Dohwa made sure to show Y/N how much he cared. He would surprise her with her favorite snacks, leave sweet notes in her laundry basket, and always make sure she felt loved and appreciated.
'She's the best thing that's ever happened to me', Dohwa thought one day as they sat in the park. He looked at Y/N with a tender smile. "You know, Y/N, I never thought I'd find someone as amazing as you. Thank you for being my rock."
Y/N blushed and leaned her head on his shoulder. "And thank you for being mine, Dohwa."
