Ghost
Having a kid with Jonggun isn’t easy. ‘Have a son!’ They said. ‘They’re almost always close to their mom’s!’ They said. And here you were. Having a toddler with Jonggun who is absolutely glued to the man. Gun himself was surprised to find out that his kid liked him and didn’t find him scary. Most toddlers, hell even most adults, thought he looked…strange. But your toddler seemed absolutely smitten by his dad. Before you went into labor, you had told Jonggun that you don’t want him to rub off any of the bullshit he does. From fighting to his…not so legal job. Your child won’t be raised the same way Jonggun was. They’ll be raised normally. Loved. Supported. And ultimately gets to choose his own path in life when their older. Jonggun didn’t seem to object what you told him. But did say that his kid will at least know the basics of whatever form at least some martial arts. Fine. A compromise it is then.
Your son recently got a new hobby. It’s common for children to have phases and interests even when their little. First it was cars. Then it was space. Then dinosaurs. And now, after watching a particular film on halloween with you and jonggun even though the young one was supposed to be a bed, he has developed an interest in ghosts. He thinks it’s a new species. Like unicorns. They’re there…they’re everywhere. And they’re special. His new mission is to catch one and show it to papa! Jonggun found the idea ridiculous and just told your son that ghosts were in fact, not real and just made up. Your son, being the naive toddler he is, told jonggun that he can’t see him because he’s not special enough. Which made you laugh at Jonggun. You on the other hand entertained the young boy in his interest. Asking him questions or clues on the topic. Pretending to be curious and blown away when he tells you something you probably already knew.

It’s almost mid night and Jonggun just came home. Your toddler is already asleep after 2 long and hard hours of him refusing one thing after the other. Dinner went hardly smoothly with Jonggun not being there and your son wanting to eat with him. Then it was your son waiting by the door for him. Then you had to bath him which he also refused to do because he wants his father to do it. Then you had to tug him in. No bed time story. No singing. No story telling. He’s not going to sleep until he sees his dad. Yeah well that’s rough buddy, after what felt like forever your little guy was practically knocked out. And coincidentally Gun was home just when the little one was asleep.
‘What’s this mess?’ Jonggun asked you, looking at whatever remained of the dinner table. Food scattered on the floor. A suction cup bowl stuck to the wall…a bite out of the leather chairs? It looked like a god damn war zone ‘He missed you.’ Jonggun seemed unimpressed. He knew his son missed him when he was at work. He practically latched into jonggun when he says his goodbye to his son.. but this is an interesting way of showing that he loves him. ‘Where is he now?’ Jonggun asked you while going towards your shared bedroom, presumably to change out of his work clothes while still talking to from the bedroom. ‘He’s asleep. Finally. You should check on him. Makes him feel at ease.’ You heard a grumble from your bedroom. Typical jonggun. You could probably imagine him already rolling his eyes. Though it’s not like he doesn’t love his son.

After jonggun went to check on your son, the two of you went to bed. There are always little noises jonggun hears when he sleeps. He is a sharp individual after all. Nothing goes unnoticed. If you go to the bathroom he already hears the water from the sink. And right now, it’s exactly what he hears. Water droplets. But they sound…distant. Perhaps your son went to the bathroom? Or maybe he went to drink water. Who knows what that kid is doing. Drip right, it’ll be over soon. It’s just the sink. Drip yeah maybe your son is just taking longer. Drip searching for a stool to stand on probably Drip. Okay now it’s getting ridiculous. Gun’s trying his best to ignore the dripping faucet. Drip but that thing is really testing his patience right now. Drip fuck it he’s going to turn that thing off even if he has to wake up. Carefully getting out of bed to not wake you up, Gun found himself in the kitchen. Pitch black. The faucet still dripping. But his eyes were casted on the little form hiding under the dinner table. A tiny flash of light shining onto the walls. What the hell? Jonggun watched his son in confusion as he got out from under the dinner table and pointed his flashlight at random objects. ‘What are you doing?’ A rather high pitched scream escaped your son’s lips, the flashlight also falling out of his hand. Jonggun quickly shushed him and picked him up. ‘Daddy!’ ‘What are you doing here? You should be in bed.’ Your son clung to his father’s neck, his mood already better than before. ‘I missed you.’ Jonggun let out a sigh. ‘Why. Are you downstairs.’ Jonggun asked his son again, adjusting his grip on the boy. His son just kept hugging him. Clearly scared of something, his little hands gripping his shirt. Jonggun picked up the flashlight, turning it off and instead turning on the light in the kitchen. It took his son a moment before he finally lifted his head up to his daddy. ‘You saved me daddy!’ His son snuggled up against Gun’s face. Making him frown in response. It’s not that he dislikes it. It’s just his natural instinct to affection. ‘Why are you downstairs so late?’ Gun repeated his question. His voice stern, just like all the times his son tried to eat random objects. His son backed down, pursing his lips and mumbling something about trying to catch a ghost but that they made him scared. Jonggun had to puzzle together what his som meant. But to break it down, his son got scared by the faucet and thought it was a ghost trying to get revenge. Great. Gun let out a sigh. Whatever… it’s gone now so he can go back to bed…his son was already knocked out in his arms anyways…might as well take him with him to your shared bed. The next morning, when you woke up to go to work. You found your toddler asleep on Gun’s chest. Gun having one arm wrapped around your son. The sight was so cute that you took a picture before you left
