Memories of Aaron Bushnell

We share Aaron’s own summary of his anarchist politics, followed by memories from three of his close friends.

if you havent read this yet, what Aaron's friends have said about him, i think you really should. I don't tend to cry much but the words they shared about him have brought me completely to tears which i am wiping off my face as i type this.

My friend said that everywhere Aaron went, he planted trees. I imagine these seeds planted in our hearts and minds. They will sprout, and they will grow into giant strong trees with deep roots built to weather the many battles that lie ahead on this burning planet. They will remain upright, like Aaron did, until they no longer can, but by then their own seeds will have been planted in the hearts of our loved ones, and they will grow into trees as well. They will continue this struggle until the beautiful world that Aaron knew we deserved is born.

I don't think this quote is ever going to leave me, and i hope you take the time to let it stay with you too.

It couldn't get more dystopian than the fact that we live in a world where most people are so morally apathetic that not even the massacre of children shake their feelings; instead, they choose to ignore the suffering of others with willful ignorance. The way so many people have shown absolutely zero regard for Palestinian genocide and ethnic cleansing should terrify us all.

in light of israel's looming invasion on rafah, south africa implored the icj to call for the protection of palestinians with new preliminary orders. the icj denied this request, insisting that its january orders would be sufficient enough in ensuring the safety of people residing in rafah.

we have all seen how israel responded to the icj verdict earlier this month. they have all but intensified their attacks on palestinians, their favorite of whom seem to be children. this will end in a bloodbath. palestinians, already malnourished and living in literal tents, will be bombarded, they will be shot, they will be slaughtered. and when i say palestinians, a lot of them are actual toddlers. the videos coming out of this are proof enough.

at this point, it has been made amply clear that palestinians will never experience safety in their own homeland. a lot of the families in gaza are trying to raise funds to get out of it, because there's nowhere left to go.

there is nowhere left to go. if these people don't get the funds necessary to escape, they will die.

it's vital that you go to operation olive branch's spreadsheet, choose a family that resonates with you, and donate as much as you can to their gofundme. every last dollar counts. one dollar could be the difference between life and death for a family. please don't fall victim to the bystander effect. your contribution counts, however little it may be. and whether you're able to donate or not, spread this to as many people as you can. each second we stay silent is a second an entire family is brutally massacred.

to put things into perspective--just yesterday it was reported that 112 palestinians were killed, and 157 were left injured. in the last 24 hours. this is quite literally time-sensitive down to the last second. i would not be able to sleep at night knowing i lived through a literal genocide and did absolutely nothing about it.

If a man with a gun tells me I have to run in 10 seconds or he'll shoot me, then points to a blocked street, he is not "evacuating" me.

Warning people before your throw bombs at them and their families is not an act of kindness or "evacuation", it's a death threat.

Now even that threat is in the past. Every civilian is just waiting to die from an airstrike as Hamas fights to repel enemy forces on the ground. May they find a way to defend Gaza in the airspace as well.

I will be %100 transparent with you all, I have no pretense to any kind of "ugh annoying" minimizing right now, I'm fuming. I'm enraged they still feel entirely comfortable pissing on my leg and telling me it's raining one month and half on. I'm sick to the bone marrow of being offered to play with the pretense there's a little Hamas soldier attacked to the back everyone in Gaza at all times. The unserious disgusting little worm person who reblogged me saw fit to insult my intelligence by oh so academically mentioning how this is a "common tactic" against governments that are held accountable for war crimes.

Motherfucker. Creature of hell. They killed 15000 people. They threw white phosphorus. People are losing jobs for opposing it. Pretending there is any form of accountability should physically choke you to death and destroy your throat. This isn't a lie, this is beyond deception, it's a crime against reality itself.

They killed FIFTEEN FUCKING THOUSAND PEOPLE. THERE IS NO CONCEPT OF FUCKING HUMAN SHIELD. FOR ME TO SAY CIVILIANS ARE THE GOAL IS FOR ME TO SAY THE SKY IS BLUE. THEY WANT THE BLOOD OF PALESTINIANS. IF A HAMAS SOLDIER WRAPPED HIMSELF IN 15 INFANTS TO THE IOF THAT WOULDN'T BE A DETERRENT, THAT'D BE A HIGH VALUE PRIORITY FUCKING TARGET.

Anyone who utters the fucking words "human shield" after the gleeful purposeful targeted bombing of 15000 humans needs the 999th layer of hell I don't know what to fucking do at this point. Die. Kill yourself.

There is still hope. Say it out loud. Palestine will be free. The Palestinian people will celebrate their culture and heritage with each other. We will love and be loved. Do not fall into the trap of despair.

I'm not saying this just for morale. I'm saying this as a reminder that the colonialist regime relies on your despair, uses it to further their propaganda. Once you lose hope, and tell everyone you lose hope, you are aiding the Zionist Entity.
