The way they melt towards each other at the end of this song is EVERYTHING to me. Couple goals.
Obsessed with this by the way
Everyone always wants to say that The River isn't Bruce Springsteen's best album but you have to admit that album has some heartbreaking tracks that literally don't compare to anything else from his discography. The first choice is obviously The River SONG, but Independence day, Jackson Cage, Point Blank, Fade Away, The Price you Pay, and Wreck on the Highway all tell tragic stories of loss and heartbreak. This album is completely immersive in it's storytelling and has a very distinct storytelling voice compared to Darkness on the Edge of Town, Born to Run, The Ghost of Tom Joad, or even Born in the U.S.A.

Mandatory songs to listen to on your birthday:
Out of every Blind Melon song, this is the one where I like Shannon Hoon’s vocals the most. It’s something about the way he does high notes. There is a kind of unique rasp and control there. I love it.
I do think that Shannon Hoon and Robert Plant have a very similar tonality and vocals in the same range.
One thing I do love about Pearl Jam live recordings is that you can hear Everytime Eddie Vedder will let his tambourine back into the microphone. He’s banging it the whole time but it’s usually too far away for the microphone to even pick up. So I love all of the random moments where he’ll bring it back to where the microphone can pick it up and you just hear three tambourine beats.
My hold at the library finally came in!! Will be posting my favorite snippets later!
