A/N: The world cup is turning upside down the country, hahaha.
The past weeks have been insane, somehow the work increases and driving turns crazy, the reason why I have been absent around here, I will go back to my schedule just let this madness pass. 🤯
Still I can’t let pass the end of this story, it took me much time than I expected but I loved every part of it and I hope you feel something like that-
We keep seeing but maybe a little bit erratic, just for one month more after all your crazy author is back with the normal schedule.
Keep healthy and as I always said, thanks for reading! 🍒
Y/N screams in a whisper as she hears all the movement outside of the church. It’s Friday morning, the inauguration begins in 30 minutes.
“Why don't you do it?” She goes and grabs Kilen's hands as her life depends on it. “You always do the talking things I… I prefer to receive praise and compliments.”
Kilen shakes his head and grabs Y/N shoulders helping her stand proudly.
“I prefer to hear from you, I know you prepared a nice speech.”
Holt giggles, as Samantha helps him to make the knot of his tie. Lennox is buttoning up his jacket.
Mr. Alderwoon entered with his clean suit and big smile on his face.
Lennox opens his mouth. “Do you actually even consider we will let that guy steal ou…”
Claire enters to cover Lennox's mouth as she leads him outside of the church, with hidden laughs of the other boys.
Max entered seeing Lennox Alderwood being scolded by Claire as he only listened with eyes closed.
“Sorry for…” Max lost all the air of his lungs; the moment he steps inside of the church Y/N runs to him, hugging him tight, searching for a refuge on him. “Hi.”
Y/N hides her face on the curve of his neck.
“I’m freaking out.” Y/N mumbles, feeling Max arms around her waist.
“I thought you did this multiple times.” Max asks, feeling her tense.
“I did. This is different.” Y/N finally searches for his blue eyes. “This is so meaningful. What if I screw it?”
Max touches the side of her face. “You? Come on schat. You got this, you could do this with your eyes closed.”
Y/N sighs. “Hey, ok, look at me.”
Max kisses her forehead. “You are the most brilliant, dedicated and stunning girl I ever met. The only thing you have to do is go out there, say your speech and believe me all in that garden will be with an open mouth.”
“Well, you have all your friends and family there having your back.” Max kissed her cheek. “And of course me, but that's something you already should know.”
Y/N giggles. “I love you.”
Max froze with his lips stuck at her cheek. “Wh…What?”
Y/N takes a deep breath. “I love you Emilian. I know it’s not the right moment to say it but…”
Max captures her lips in a long kiss, if he hasn’t words to say it back, he prays that kiss tells her how much he loves her.
Y/N breathless split from Max feeling his heart when her hand goes to his chest, bumping hard and fast.
“Fuck, schat, I love you yoo.” Max whispers before kissing her again.
Max splits when they hear a step coming closer, Mia announces everything is ready.
“You curse in church." Y/N whispers before Max kisses her one more time.
Max rolls his eyes. “It's hard not to do it.”
Everyone listens, proud eyes on her as a big smile forms every time a small joke appears in her speech. Y/N take a brief second to look at the people who are sitting in front, all the settlers wearing their best clothes, reporters covering the news and business people in the last row frustrated because one more time the Alderwood are stealing the big shows.
However in the front row smiling big and with tears in their eyes their family awaits for the last part that she promises it’s the cherry on top.
“My initial purpose for coming back was to try to find the little girl who used to run in those streets, the girl who spent hours in the park and reluctantly spent more time than she and her brothers wished waiting for their mom to speak with the priest.” Claire laughs, shaking her head.
“However, I still couldn't find her… instead I realized what that little girl has built with pain, yes, but a lot of love too.” Y/N sees their friends. “I have lifetime friends that were willing to follow me even when all I said was nonsense; family that even with new additions supported and loved every little part of who I was, I am and I will be.”
Y/N smiles tender to Max who is discreetly raising his fist to her.
“I came here believing I was sick of love and only would bring pain.” Holt jolted Max. “But at this church, I learned love could help you to come back from the mud. I have kilotons of love around me, but especially the love I never expected or knew could make me feel this in peace came in a guy with eyesight problems and a coffee in his hand.”
Max turns red as he smiles at her.
“So this place is a proof that even in your darkest time. All can be restored and preserved if you give the time and necessary care, you will come back strong and beautiful, just wait and surround yourself with the correct persons and the process will be stunning in every step.”
People stand in claps, smiling, her brothers couldn’t wait and run to her hugging like when she was a little kid, in a bear hug; photographers rush to take the best shot. Her father did it tenderly with visible teary eyes, Max waits and kisses her cheek for warping with his arms.
“Thanks.” Y/N tilt her head on his arms. “For letting me help you.”
The protocol things develop as always, a ribbon cut, praises and hand shakes as people keep entering the church. The oldest people of the town could not contain a few tears, unable to reprimand themselves and hug Y/N, for them it is like going back to the time when the Church was just built.
As only the Alderwood family remains there, the photographer approaches too. Max witness what months ago he saw in a newspaper, like photography, every member of the family took their positions, both of their parents at each side, with their kids in the middle; but Max notice a difference, Y/N’s smile, months ago, what it was a fainted almost forced, now was brightly and honest.
A few shots before they made a small stop, Jack approaches Claire, Sam gets between Holt and Kilen, the new members taking its place.
“Wait!” Y/N searched around the place, finding Max sitting in the chair. “What are you doing? You’re crazy if you think you leave me alone here.”
Max blush as she extends her hand.
“Come on darling, you’re part of the family now.” Claire giggles as she sees her boys rolling eyes as they smile.
Max rushed, holding her hand placed among Lennox and Y/N.
“Ok, bigger photo, I like it.” The photograph chuckles getting a little far away for being able to capture every single member.
A few shots, for finally being free to get inside. However Y/N holds Max's hands for he waits a little bit as all get inside.
“What?” Max scans her face, finding a joyful smile, as she observes him with a cute face; sheepy eyes and rose in her cheek and not, it wasn’t her make up.
“Nothing.” Y/N put his arms around her waist as hers around her neck, hiding her face on his neck. “You look so handsome in a suit.”
“I love to stay here but I guess people are waiting for you inside so…” Max hears her growl still splitting, refusing to let his hand.
Walking inside of the church among mumbles and long silences, trigger something in Lennox seeing them, he scoffed as he grinds.
“What?” Kilen asks, with furrowed eyebrows, following the direction of his brother's eyes.
“I hate to see it.” Lennox clears his throat as he smiles.
“See what?” Kilen is confused, because across the room, Holt and Sam are gigglen as they point at Y/N and Max.
Lennox pat Kilen back. “You know, tu tu tu tun, tu tu tu tun…” Lennox star to mumbles the wedding march.
Kilen saw across the room seeing Holt swing with Sam like he could actually hear Lennox.
Three knocks on the door before Claire barely opened it and not getting inside. “Y/N, 20 minutes.”
Y/N complains burying her face on Max's chest, as Max barely opens his eyes.
“Got it?” Claire asks, as a smile appears on her face.
“Yeah, got it.” Y/N mumbles, as Max presses her tight against him.
“Morning Max.” She claimed before closing the door, making the couple laugh.
Y/N sighs, as she sits on bed. Yesterday was a long day, the village held a small party to thank Alderwoods, a party that lasted until 2 am.
Looking at her phone it’s 6:30 am, for a second she believed her mother forgot it.
“Isn't it too early for breakfast?” Max sits resting his forehead on her shoulder.
Y/N chuckles. “It’s not breakfast, it’s time to go to church.” She kissed the top of his head. “Now, go back to sleep, we’ll be here in an hour and a half.”
“LET’S GO LITTLE CHERRY! We stuck with this together." Kilen screams at the other side of the door and makes him laugh.
Max is confused, causing her to laugh when she sees him; messy hair, sleepy eyes and shirtless.
Y/N nods, going to the bathroom. “Mom always used to take us to the church every Saturday morning, she told me that would be the first thing she would do when the church is ready, I thought she would forget it.”
Max entered the bath as she finished brushing her teeth.
“What are you doing?” Y/N sees him change and awake. He smiles as he brushes his teeth too. “Go back to sleep Max.”
Max finished smiling and turned her around, capturing her lips in intense kisses as he kept caressing her cheek with his thumbs.
“Your mother said, welcome to the family.” Max kissed her one more time. “So, I’m going too.”
Y/N giggles, pulling him one more time, for a kiss.
“JESUS Y/N I SWEAR GOD IF WE GET LATE FOR YOU KEEP SLEEPING…” Both of them stop hearing as Max closes the bathroom door.
Max smiles when she lets him go. “Morning.”
A week later, one big car is waiting for Mila, Harriet and Ron to put inside all their stuff.
“Well, I’m going to miss this.” Harriet said, standing next to Y/N outside of the church.
Mia nods to them. “We did such a fantastic job.”
“Are you sure you don’t want us to stay with you?” Ron asked, closing the trunk.
“No, it’s ok, I have a few things to do and I’ll be back to the town.” Y/N put on her sunglasses. “Plus, Christmas is coming, I bet you have to do a lot of things at home.”
Harriet keeps staring at the church. “Do you think we have free days for next year?”
In front of her three friends, Harriet left her left hand, with a shiny ring on her finger.
“OH MY GOD!” Y/N grabs her hand. “When are you planning to tell us?!”
Ron and Mia have round eyes, grabbing her hand too. “Well, it was the day of the inauguration, we were walking around the town and well, it happened.”
Y/N hugs her tight. “Congrats Harriet, I mean it.”
“Well, after all, we’ll come back every year.” Ron laughs as they hug Harriet too.
The snow is dim, but the mood is warm. Y/N is observing from close the movement of the boys and girls.
It’s karting day and the car the kids worked on with Max is finally making his biggest appearance. It’s a small competition, but it means a lot for the kids. Max felt honored when they asked him if they could use his logo on the car, he couldn’t be more proud. Now a blue and orange car is in the last touches.
“What if we lost?” Cameron approaches Y/N with a concern.
Y/N smirks, putting her hand on Cameron's shoulder. “Cam, it’s ok, just have fun and be proud of what you did, this is a win for me either way.”
Cam shallows, as a fuss increases in the main door, stealing glances from everyone. Surrounded by security Max arrives with a big coat and a smile.
“Sorry for the delay, the snow covers the road.” Max kisses a surprise Y/N and high five with Cameron. “So, where is the car? I want to help with the last details.”
Cameron sighs in relief as lead Max to the car, making the kids jump with joy and high five with Max before submerging in total silence as Max gives them indications and moves around, under everyone's eyes, and a security person covers the entrance.
Max moved around the car like a feather, giving indications as giggles; 3 minutes later all the kids surrounded him with expecting eyes. Y/N observers at the distance when little fingers pointing to Cameron who has a frightening expression on his face, still he nods and proudly shakes Max hand.
Max helps to take the car to the track, as Cameron goes to the back of the garage squeezing his hands but heads up high.
The answer came a few minutes later when Max smiles bigger, seeing Cameron coming out with a suit and the helmet in his hands.
“Do you ever feel nervous about racing?” Cameron mumbles under the tender eyes of Max.
“No, but…” Cameron scoffs with a grin. “I know the feeling of the first time, and believe me Cam, once you sit in the car and feel the wheel on your hands, all around you will disappear, it only will be you and that car.”
Max puts his arm around Cameron's shoulders. “Live the moment, the result doesn't matter.”
At the distance Y/N observes with frown eyebrows that turn in tender eyes when Cameron hugs Max before going in the car. Max spoke with him the last time before walking away.
Immediately putting his arms around her.
“I thought you were supposed to be in Milton Keynes.” Y/N let Max squeeze her tight.
“The doctor said I need a few more days of resting.” Max mumbles before kissing her check. “Plus I have a good feeling about this.”
“What?” Max raised his shoulders with a smirk on his face.
Y/N shakes her head leaving her phone on the couch standing to finish what she was supposed to finish two days ago. Settle perfectly the 3 paintings Max bought and his present.
But a clingy driver and his charms keep her in everything less in what she should.
“How?!” Y/N grabs the last painting going to his room.
Max laughs following her. Lennox, who is in the village doing some work, sent to Y/N the photo that all the town is covered in the cover of the newspaper, the kids winning a third place in the karting race.
“I mean, the car was pretty great, you saw it.” Max lay in his bed observing Y/N, tilting her head over and over again, seeing the painting perfectly centered.
Y/N rolls her eyes, after the race Max practically stole her from there claiming once the preparation for the new season begins he won't even have time to breathe.
How could she deny it when he looks at her with those sparkling eyes as bites softly on his lip?
That lead in asked Lennox to take photos of the celebration in the town, believing it would be a local thing until the newspapers appeared.
“Perfect.” Y/N mumbles when she gets finally satisfied laying next to Max in bed.
Max takes a deep breath before; said a question that has been on his mind lately, but he wants to wait for the perfect moment.
“Would you come right?” Max sees the ceiling feeling her moving next to him.
“Where?” Max chuckles, turning his face seeing her playful smug.
Max kisses her softly. “You’re so funny.”
Y/N lay in Max's chest, the glimpse of she could not go makes his heart squeeze. “Max, I’ll be the frenetic girl walking side to side of the garage, don’t worry, you want me there for the first race I’ll be there.”
Max smiles, kissing her. “BUT I won’t use any of those blue things you curse daily, I’m not a free sponsor, you know?”
Both of them laugh, as Y/N softly touches his cheeks.
“Do you think my plain shirts fit you well?” Max makes her chuckling rolling one more time. “Now, I have 20 minutes before I forcefully let you in the airport, so, let me enjoy my girlfriend…”
“WHAT A COMEBACK RACE!” The commenters mention, Max is being praised for the unbelievable week he just had.
Y/N smirks, shaking her head seeing him staging in his car, hands lifted and a small shadow of blue because his eyes are hidden behind his smile.
Max runs and jumps over his team as always, while Y/N keep at a proper distance letting him have a blast with his team.
However, when the congratulations with the teams ends, and the medical appointments conclude, he finally uses his 2 minutes of freedom running to Y/N, who waits him ready to receive him in your arms.
“I’m sweating, I'm sorry.” Max mumbles with his face hidden in the curve of her neck.
Y/N presses him tight, feeling he’s about to drift away. “Fuck it, dusty adn sweaty the perfect match.”
The vibration on her neck of his laugh makes her kiss the side of his head.
The top of the podium now feels different. Max is surrendered by claps and shouts; cameras pointing to him as shown on the big screen the big comeback of a champion, with an unusual smile.
Lips pressed together, red cheeks and eyes shining to the crowd.
Well, not the crowd, in the middle of the RB team, there is Y/N, with the cup of coffee in her hand raising at him like she’s doing a toast, only for showing the black ring in her ring finger.
Innocent for all but for them, it’s the promise of healing together through the time.
Yes, you're imagining it perfectly.
The first ceremony in that old and gothic church will be for them.
