It's late in the evening, and I feel weary as I drag myself up this steep hill. Why would someone build buildings on top of a hill? Yes, it looks refreshing and breathtaking, but it can literally take my breath away.
I huff and puff as I climb this hill. My car has been broken for months because of that night. I sigh. I think my luck in life is starting to die. One by one, all of my prized possessions are drifting away, and if not, they're broken or gone. It's been months, and I keep telling myself that other people have it rougher than my current situation to keep my spirits high, but why does every day feel like dying?
From someone as superior as an eagle to a crow. How did I end up in this situation?
The wind blows through my hair as I reach my apartment building. Good thing I still haven't lost my home. I smile bitterly. I look up at the heights of the building as the wind grows stronger and stronger.
I need to rest immediately. Walking inside the hall of the apartment feels gloomy and heavy. Something isn't right. The lights are dim, and dry leaves from the trees outside have made their way inside. This feels like a scene from a horror movie. I scoff. As if ghosts aren't real, as well as fantasies and things like that.
I don't mind the way the lights flicker as I make my way in front of the elevator. I'll just call the landlord tomorrow about the lights acting up.
"Ouch!" I exclaim as my toes stub into something. What the hell is this? I turn on my phone's light to see a rectangular-shaped canvas lying in front of the elevator. It's covered by a rummaged black garbage bag, as if someone eagerly wanted to throw it away.
Unconsciously, I don't let go of the 'thing' as I make my way inside the elevator. Should I really bring this to my place? I still don't know what's inside and what it's doing outside the elevator, but I'm seriously curious, and the only way to kill this curiosity is by opening this bag.
I turn on the lights in my apartment, throw my handbag and heels on the couch, and sit carefully on the sofa as I sigh deeply. This day has been really tiring. I want to eat something sweet and soft.
But first, I need to see what's in the bag.
