thinking about how even gay rights just. aren’t taken seriously by your average well meaning liberal. i’m thinking about how coworkers a few jobs ago just chuckled when i said i didn’t want chicfila bc of their donations to anti gay efforts. more recently, a trans girl who works at my gym told me that her bosses wouldn’t let her hang a pride flag in the gym. This is despite it being a place that is largely queer and a strongly ‘liberal’ soace, because “conservatives go here too.” At what point do certain ideas become unacceptable? at what point do we stop having conversations about queer rights because yes we all know gay people deserve rights? “conservatives come here too!” okay and you’re okay with that? you want that? there’s people who will be made uncomfortable by something as simple as a pride flag and you’re okay with that? you’re accommodating it? have some fucking conviction! do the minimum!

In Catching Fire Katniss mentions that Victors are meant to have a “special talent” and that hers was fashion design.

She says she refuses to sing for the Capitol, implying it is her choice.

Which just seems improbable to me, the Capitol is not above forcing Victors to perform.

In reality Snow was probably the one to refuse to let her sing. He was not going to let a Covey girl from District 12 sing in the Capitol ever again.

In a normal circumstance, I hate Netflix. However, they struck a deal to produce new episodes of Sesame Street and will ensure that the episodes remain free and accessible on PBS for all kids and for that, they deserve gratitude.

Additionally, unlike the deal previous struck with HBO, this one with Netflix also makes its so new episodes are simultaneously available via Netflix, PBS, and the PBS Kids app.

When he left the CIA, he was clearly given his choice of place to disappear to, and he chose a career of helping poor children and families in one of the most beautiful places in the world. This job is his chance to put some good into the world after a life of secrets, so if that means allowing this obvious alien to integrate with this little family, so be it. Note that he said "model citizen," not "best behavior" or "good dog." He did the mental math, but very quickly decided that this alien monster was under his protection as a CPS officer, too.

every time I mention how many days sober I am I appreciate people congratulating me and telling me to keep up the good work. it is nice. but I also wish that milestones in addiction recovery weren’t still so pinned to length of sobriety/abstinence

yeah yeah I’m 50 days sober who cares. how about the fact that, when I do drink, it tends to be nipped in the bud after two days nowadays instead of weeks or months? how about the fact that drinking has been condensed to a six pack because I’m at the end of my tether, instead of browning out every night? how about my friend who has decided to stop drinking alone, and is actually sticking to that? recovery doesn’t always look like sobriety and I wish it was more normal to talk about that. yknow. when addiction is normal to talk about at all
