Hello ty so much! I def am planning on finishing it unfortunately life is busy 😭. In fact the next chapter of bruised apple is about halfway done! and i still plan on rewriting the other movies even if it continues to take me a hot minute

I’ve had a very chaotic few years since starting bruised apple, I finished highschool, got into college, had various life situations come and go, a host of neglected medical issues decided that they were sick of being neglected, all that sort of thing lol

Good news is that the past 4 ish months I’ve finally managed to start taking care of certain chronic issues that I couldn’t take care of properly before, so I’m kinda slowly taking my life back and getting my shit together. Getting on a writing schedule isn’t quite at the top of the list but it’s steadily making its way up there as I manage to clear out other things

Basically TLDR: I will finish it, I’m trying to get to a place where I can consistently post new chapters but getting to that place is taking some time, and I’m very appreciative of everyone who has enjoyed the story so far

I would love to get the next chapter out by the end of November but eh?? School hard my brain feels like a used shamwow

Good news! I finished drafting the next chapter of “you bruised the apple, you made it rot”. And it’s 1/2 edited!

Bad news is I’m too tired to edit it, will be busy all day 2morrow and will probably be too tired during the week bc of school. 😭😭😭

But I’ll do my best to get it up relatively soon ish !

I’ll probably post smthn for a different fandom b4 posting the chapter after that, though idk what bc I literally have so many partially finished things it’s an actual problem

kinda a random tidbit about the story, but in earlier outlines of “you bruised the apple, you made it rot” the sequence that made the VKs accept the AKs was completely different! 

the original idea was that one of the four had an allergic reaction and the other three flipped tf out lol. they also used the sleeping death apples like how it’s refered in some of the prequel stories (which i really need to finish and edit lol), basically to keep that person alive in the long run by trapping them between life and death 

the AKs ofc are Very Concerned, the four are attracting alot of attention bc u know one of them just collapsed, and the three who are still standing are getting kinda violent and defensive bc they’re assuming that one of them has been poisoned 

which, u know them being violent and acting like feral cats attracts some pretty negative attention, but their freinds defend them, which makes them trust them in the long run 

they also had to like... wake the sleeping person which outed their relationship (or at least a part of it) 

butttt that was all cut and changed! for a few reasons, mainly bc i hated my inital drafts lol, but also bc of stuff like how i wanted each of the AKs to prove themself individually, and bc the scene felt too forced. (tho im sure i could have made it work if i was a better writer lol)

auradon + politics

so in the movies the way that the politics work is very vauge 

all we really know is that beast united the kingdoms and created the isle 

so the way it works here is.... similar but kinda diffrent 

all the kingdoms are technically still mostly independent. auradon is kinda a mix of the UN and like... the federal us govt. the kingdoms still have the majority control over themselves and function mostly as total monarchy 

but auradon is a lil bit diffrent.  

note: auradon can refer to the alliance/govt of all the kingdoms, the land they take up all together, and/or what was the beast’s kingdom 

it took kinda alot to convince the kingdoms to unify, so theres a decent amount of like checks in place (at least for a monarchy). adam/belle and their kids have control of the auradonian govt, and the rest of the kingdoms have to follow their laws, but theres certain things they can’t do 

for one, while the rest of the kingdoms have like their own laws and stuff w/ the auradonin ones ontop, they don’t. they just have the auradonian laws (which you’ll see why thats kinda bad in a sec) 

and also, while the rest of the kingdoms are total monarchies auradon is a partial monarchy 

there are certian things the king/queen can just do/executive decisions they can make but alot of stuff they need support from council members that are elected a number of ways 

it’s not like they need permission for every law or anything, for like alot of things they can just be like ‘hey we’re doing this’ and other ppl just have to be like ‘yeah ok’ but their are certain things that representatives need to give them permission to do, mostly in relation to: 

- taxes

- defense / military 

- magic 

- the isle / general prison system 

- laws surrounding trade/ relations between kingdoms 

and then theres just other stuff that they have advisors for but it’s not required they get permission 

also, the line of command is very diffrent. it’s not just relitives (even though it goes primarily by bloodlines) there are others always in line. if the current rulers do smthn illegal they can be basically impeached and someone else will be givin the throne while said ex ruler will keep their title but loose alot of their power. 

related to that, if say someone in beast’s bloodline was impeached and someone from cinderella’s becomes the new ruler of auradon, then what was once cinderella’s kingdom has to go by the restrictions of the kingdom belle and beast ruled. so they have to use the ‘federal’ laws only, and their kingdom kinda becomes the ‘capital’ of auradon (the alliance) and is refered to as auradon (the kingdom) 

the govt is controlled basically completly by nobles and royalty which is uhhh... a thing. that Might change we’ll see :)

Carlos’s magic

I actually changed some of the stuff w/ it in the fics (if you started reading recently you’ve probably seen the edits) but I figured I’d make a quick post bc it’s pretty vauge

carlos has magic bc his mom messed w/ cursed shit and dark magic in an attempt to get Power 

ppl figured out after she was investigated for the whole. puppy kidnapping/ murder thing. so her any anyone close/ related to her (incl her brother and his baby diego) got sent to the isle 

so C was born w/ magic bc his mom fucked w/ it so much even though she couldn't ever use it lol.... he didn’t know until he accidentally absorbed magic power from the barrier though

it’s not a curse but theres tea w/ it that’s... for d2 lol. (I know why it’s hurting him I just can’t say yet I’m sorry)

Random stuff about jay and his dad bc the fic I’m doing for him is taking sooooo long:

- jay was... technecally an accident and his mom died in childbirth. jafar kept him around on the off chance he’d be useful, though jay’s aunt/jade’s mom took care of him the most. 

- after jay showed off his skills as a theif at a young age jafar started encoraging it bc he relized it could be useful/ profitable. 

- even though it’s usefull and he encouraged it though jafar hates that jay is a theif. jafar thinks they should be better than that and that it’s below them and that jay is disgusting/dishonering them/etc for doing it. even though, again, he encouraged it... he’s a huge fucking hypocrite 

- he also hates it bc he thinks jay is super similar to aladdin and yeah.... shit’s a bit fucked uppp 

- jafar is a bitch and i hate him thats the post gn 

- actually no fuck jafar ima put some nice stuff too

- jafar didn’t name him, mostly called him “boy” and that kind of thing. His aunt didn’t dare name him bc she didn’t wanna piss him off

- BUT (this is the actual nice part) when the others found out they came up w/ a name for him together.

- they chose “jabir” bc it means comforter and his presence comforts them. They will pull out full names at times if they’re mad at him lol

- jade is his younger cousin but basically his sister and he adores her

- idrk what else to say that hasn’t already been said in the fics lol 😂

animals + keep them close

so i haven’t really mentioned it in most of my fics but in ‘for fuck’s sake y’all’ characters like scar and Kaa (the snake from the jungle book) are refrenced as being on the isle. which would imply that they can like... talk to humans and shit but then also theres characters like bea and dude who have intellegence but can’t interact w/ humans 

i’m pretty sure it’s cannon (according to the wiki at least) that scar is on the isle. but i have. no fucking clue how that shit is supposed to work in cannon in refrence to the dif intelligence of animals 

i’ve seen stuff w/ them just... being human for some reason, or like having the ability to transform, and or having cannon kids and stuff?? 

but some of that was on the ‘descendants fannon’ wiki and tbh i don’t really know how to navigate fandom wiki websites at all. i’ve seen all the movies obvi, but i don’t know much about the books besides whats on the wiki (not enough money to buy them + too much adhd + basically already made up my own cannon = prob won’t for a while lmao) 

anyway, just bc i came up w/ my own version of stuff to include animal characters (even just as a backround thing) 

basically most animals have kinda higher intelligence, but they’re not able to communicate w/ most humans. it’s very similar to the ‘101 Dalmatians’ movie where they can communicate w/ eachother and pets think of their owners as their pets. aka what was my main insperation for scenes involving bea and dude, and smthn thats going to be explored later 

when it comes to other animals such as lion king and jungle book characters, it’s smthn a little different. basically what i’m doing is making them sort of at will werewolf type characters, but w/ like whatever animal they are in their og movie 

so like. Simba and his whole kingdom are basically magical ppl who can change from human to another animal. tho they’re still considered human by the rest of the world, they have their own kingdom and culture and stuff, and are 100% involved in the government of auradon and stuff 

this change only really applies to animals that like. can’t work as animals anymore within the context of the world. like how the actual fuck would scar have ended up on the isle if none of the humans who built it understood he was a throne stealing ex-prince 

characters like jaq-jaq, pongo and perdeta, abu, and the birds that follow every disney princess are still normal animals and basically how they’re in the og movies. 

characters like those from the lion king, jungle book, robin hood, etc, are the whole weird shapeshifting BS. there are seperate kingdoms divided by like the movies and stuff. (ig being a fucking shapeshifter is really common?? tf) 

honestly this is like. 99% a backround detail i just put way too much thought into and overexplained for no reason. i don’t think i’m gonna be working w/ any huminized animal characters, i just wanted to use these types of characters in the backround w/o being called out for being inconsistant.... (and bc i overthing everything lmao) 

on a related note, these kinds of shapeshifters on the isle are trapped in human form like how merrow (merpeople) like uma urith and uziel are. neither can transform between their forms bc the barriar stops magic

descendants and last names

so y’all know how last names came from like ‘oh i’m from x place’  or ‘my parents are x’ and thats how ppl got last names and stuff 

well at least in my series i like to think it’s sort of a combo of that and more modern names, bc thats just how i kinda like to do descendants in general when it comes to world building. (time lines are hard but magic exists leave me be....) 

so anyway. theres a few ways that ppl would be refereed by

- [name] child of [parent] 

- [name] of [place] 

- [name] the [job] 

all of which are common, but they’re considered formal. in informal settings ppl would probably just go 

- [name] [parent’s name]  *could also use a grandparent or ancestor's name, usually the most well known person in their bloodline 

- [name] [place]

etc. obvi other stuff like titles can be added on and stuff. 

but bc most ppl don’t have proper last names they’ll often be referred to as a few different things. 

so audrey for example may introduce herself/ be addressed as by someone like a teacher as either: 

- audrey auroria

- audrey aurora

- audrey phillip 

- audrey leah 

etc. 

her legal name would be somthing like “crown princess audrey rose of auroria, daughter of queen aurora and king philip, grandaughter of queen leah and king (idk his name lmao)” 

though usually grandparent’s names are only included if you or them are super important.

full/ legal names are super rarely used, only really in like super formal situations. thats why they have the shorter versions 

unless ur a asshole like maddox who insists people use his full title. which, most don’t even if they use a longer version of it

like deadass his full title is: “sir maddox, son of merlin, head of security for the kingdom of auradon, leader of the royal gaurd, advisor to the king”  which is similar in length to audrey’s but is long af for a non-royal 

titles can change.... i’ll prob write the main versions of ppl’s titles when the series is over ;)

maleficent/ mal backstory

all this is kinda stuff thats implied referenced and stuff and you can kinda piece together (to a point) from the stuff thats already posted (or going to be posted) but i figured i’d make a full explanation/ timeline since this is the most AU backstory 

Minor spoilers for one of the early chaps of “you bruised the apple, you made it rot” and “past, present, future” but not huge ones. Probably will help since it’s vauge af in the fics lol

- so. I’m using kinda a combo of dif things.

- if y’all have seen the maleficent movie (the remake w/ her as like a protector of the forest) it kinda takes that setting 

- but maleficent isn’t good lol 

- it’s not quite known how she became queen of the moors, but she had been as long as anyone could remember 

- when she became queen she started draining the magic itself from the moors and the creatures that live there. the moors started to wilt and die over the next few hundred years, because they’re absolutely ancient  and have been storing magic for centuries 

- all fae come from the moors, which are great and vast lands, but most have left over the past few hundred years that maleficent has been queen 

- they’ve started living among humans, using the little amounts of magic they have left to give gifts to those they think need it 

- fae arent the only magical creatures that left, but most sort of had to stay there bc they wernt accepted by humans the same way that fae (who were already very human like) were 

- but around the time (a few yrs/decades b4) aurora was born the moors began to get worse 

- before they were just wilting, getting sick, but now they were starting to die 

- malifect was draining so much of the magic that she was killing it 

- she didn’t care about the moors, but she did care that her almost infinite magic was weaning 

- asp she relizes that she can just.... take human fear and turn that directly into magic. so.... thats not good for the humans.... 

- so.... she started venturing out into the lands of others. just kinda... doing w/e tf she wanted in search of magic to steal, or w/e she thought was interesting. tracking down fae who left, or just destroying villages and fucking w/ humans bc she hated them and thought they were weak 

- eventually she finds aurora and curses her bc she hates flora fauna and merriweather 

- they were sorts of fae priestesses before they left the moors, and the fact that they’re blessing a human child is something malifecent considers a huge insult. especially since they refused to bless her and her reign as queen 

- so yeah. she curses aurora, and everything happens pretty close to the movie. the kingdom falls hidden and into a cursed sleep for 100 years, after aurora grows up away from her family 

- philip has kinda an extra reason to go searching. besides the fact that he actually met aurora/ fell in love w/ her when they were both like 15 (like in the movie) he’s also caught in the cursed sleep for exactly 100 years. 

- exactly when the 100th year hits he awakes, fights maleficent and kisses aurora, which wakes the rest of the kingdom 

- maleficent is greatly injured but not killed, and retreats 

- unfortunately when philip was trapped in the curse sleep w/ the rest of aurora’s kingdom his own kingdom was left leader-less bc his father could never have another son and eventually died.... :( 

- and during the 100 years maleficent continued doing w/e tf she wanted including terrorizing other kingdoms and just random ass towns (especially in her dragon form) and helping other villians to either get more magic 

- so philip and aurora try to get their shit together. they get married and combine their kingdoms to protect them / bundle resources to defend themselves 

- flora fauna and merriweather leave to see if they can find a way to defeat/ contain maleficent for good 

- eventually meets up w/ FG, merlin, and beast/belle. they’re already working together trying to find a solution to the large amount of villains currently growing in power, and the three are kinda like ‘hey we need to figure out smthn Fast bc this may be the only time we can acutally take malifecent down’ 

- they decide on the isle, and FG and Merlin work together to create the barriar 

- malifecent is captured and stuck there, w/o any of the magic she. literally killed for 

- she’s pissed, especially since w/o all her magic she’s starting to age at the rate of a normal human. she’s been (physically at least) early 20s for a long fucking time 

- she spends a few years trying to escape on her own, b4 she realizes oh shit i actually might never escape 

- she decides to have a child to like... continue her legacy. slash as a pawn/useful tool. 

- ends up just... seducing some random man on the isle. (not hades, sry y’all. as far as i’m concerned he’s not actually on the isle in this universe bc... he’s a literal god and i’m adding more restrictions to magic in this universe)

- he’s just a normal, nameless human. a murder or smthn that was sent to the isle when auradon started sending random criminals there. 

- as soon as she knows she’s pregnant she kills the guy. she doesn't want anyone else having control over mal 

- all of it is super calculated. she wants mal to exsist to continue her legacy and sees her as nothing more as an extension of herself. some might think she ‘lowered’ herself to have a child w/ a random human but to her humans are like.... nothing. she basically sees it as if she and noone else created mal, and that bc of that/ bc she created her she owns mal

It’s a series re-write that is currently pretty close to cannon (we.... finna diverge a lot very soon lol) but has a darker isle, gay shit, Disrespected characters getting the attention they deserve, and Magic.
