what the actual fuck
Me, for years on KUWF : man it’s crazy how quickly fundies get pregnant after marriage.
Me, Now: married for 6.5 months, 3.5 months pregnant
Oops 😂🤷♀️
Lord knows that the United States has and continues to commit atrocities. I can't justify that. And the current political situation here is scary as hell. But I love this place. I love the Atlantic Ocean and New York City and the Pacific Northwest. I love my Blue Ridge Mountains with my whole entire heart. I love cardinals and mockingbirds and kudzu and possums and black rat snakes and the way the woods smell in the mornings.
I love that Americans are known for complimenting strangers. I love that we fry everything, and that we do it well. I love 12-foot-high plastic Halloween skeletons in people’s yards and tacky Christmas lights that stay up too long. I love that we are an unabashedly goofy people.
I love bluegrass music. I love stepping. I love that there are always folklorico dancers in my town’s Mardi Gras parade. I love that my town has a Mardi Gras parade, even though most people here aren’t Catholic or French and didn’t grow up with any kind of Carnivale tradition. I love that if "Livin On A Prayer" comes on a pizzeria, at least one person at each table won't be able to stop themselves from singing along. I love that the middle school gym shakes to the rafters when families cheer for THEIR baby finishing eighth grade and that they bring balloons and bouquets and flower garlands to celebrate.
I love the 80 year old couple at our local No Kings protest. I love all the little kids there with their families, too. I love the brass band that always shows up at protests here and plays old union songs and gospel music. I cry like a damn baby every time I hear “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing.”
This country is horrible and selfish and destructive, but it’s also wonderful and kind and full of people loving and fighting and trying to make things better. And the people saying that there’s only one kind of real American, and that if you don’t look like they do or talk like they do or think like they do, then you don’t count, those people can go pound sand. I’m as real American as they come, and those people aren’t the only ones who get to love our country.
I do really feel for Katie and her kids but also where is the justice for the best fundie wedding dress omg
It IS the best fundie wedding dress truly
Katie is a real person and I don't mean to act like she's not by saying this, but this whole situation is almost like, a perfect fable about the dangers of courtship yknow lol, they did EVERYTHING by the book.
He can write songs about you, you can save physical touch for marriage, you can have an aesthetically perfect wedding, you can both be as close to the Christian idea of conventionally attractive as possible, you can have a nice house with tons of expensive beige furniture and a designer dog with 2 insanely cute kids and a huge social media following, and you can STILL get played.
No amount of arbitrary rules can stop relationship issues and genuinely when will fundies realize that the courtship bullshit just primes these young men esp to be sexually weird and confused? It's like the rule instead of the exception at this point
Travis and Katie have always seemed to be one of the best cases against marrying very young after a strict and long distance courtship. Still, though, I really feel for Katie after everything this week. I hope she is with her siblings and surrounded by love.
The shot of her holding someone's hand while receiving care for her miscarriage and the person holding her hand is a woman (maybe Carlin or Lydia from the ring?) ...I just can't even imagine. The person who should be there for you during an extremely difficult moment being the person who has recently betrayed you.
I really thought Reddit was being dramatic but here we go
I’m so horrified by this news. Posting about your miscarriage and then the next day your husband publicly posts about his affair.
I just can’t even imagine.
I know this poor girl is just going to get pressure to forgive and stay with this man and I know she probably will but I’d love to be wrong this once.
Ok watching the Plathville wedding episode and like, they just had their first look in front of so many people? I was specifically like, no peeking and the closest people (other than photographer and videographer) were far away and up a level

What's your dog's human name?
Sorry, as he is wanted for questioning in multiple jurisdictions, I will be protecting his identity
Alright, it’s time to come clean.
Josie named her baby after my dog.
With Josie being pregnant again, and if she has a girl, there is a non-zero chance she names this baby the name of my second dog since my dog’s name does follow the Balka pattern.
My friend who is getting married three months after me has a fully done wedding website including engagement pictures and meanwhile mine has a date and a place and nothing else.
She has a ceremony time! I literally have no idea what time my ceremony will be
I really wish that Sister Wives, the show I am using to avoid wedding planning, would stop being about wedding planning.
one thing I didn’t see coming with being a former very religious person is that secular Christmas carols just don’t slap like religious ones.

Best go vote add I’ve seen, maybe ever
I remember posting this back in 2020, not even intending the message to be “go vote”. The last photo was chosen among many others simply because it was a nice visual conclusion to the preceding chaos. The post was made many months before the election, and I had intended more to speak to the overall terrifying political climate of 2020 and all the small things we were doing to fight back and make changes that year.
But upon posting this, I received over 400 asks (I stopped counting) from different people demanding that I take the post down, telling me how dare I suggest that people vote in this political climate, and even several dozen anonymous asks threatening to attack/kill me for “spreading nationalistic propaganda”
It’s hard to remember, but that was the general sentiment around the election online in 2020: Rampant disinformation. Large-scale campaigns dissuading people from voting. Hundreds of negative comments on any post that even MENTIONED voting. You couldn’t get away.
But this election? It’s night and day. While I’m sure there’s still some people whining in a sad dark corner somewhere that moral purity is dead and they’re the last chosen saints of leftism, etc etc, the vast, VAST majority of people have zero tolerance for that bullshit this time around.
We are voting. We are talking to our friends and family about voting. We are reading the actual news and trying to cut through BS online quick-takes. We are getting people to the polls and donating to Harris and standing in line with others waiting to vote.
I’ve voted in every primary and election since I turned 18, but I have never seen young people voting on this level before. It’s truly mind-boggling just how much the younger voting block has mobilized in this election. This is the kind of thing that can change a nation if we let it.
Honestly, regardless of how the election turns out tomorrow, everybody should be so proud of what we tried to accomplish here. Keep up the good fight.
Hello. I mean this really imploringly, and really genuinely. If you're a U.S. citizen still on the fence about what to do for the election, please vote Harris. There's this idea circulating that the person you vote for should be someone you like, love, idolize and that is so very not true. You're voting for the opponent you'll face for the next four years when you have issues to protest and matters to vocalize. You're voting for the person most likely to give an inch when you protest the things that matter. You're voting for the person most likely to not strip away your existing rights and scatter your focus across the things we already won, and which can be taken away. We lost Roe v Wade under the Trump-appointed judges. The current trans-panic is so disgustingly on fire, and it's absolutely the Republicans eager to rip away what little protection there is. Both candidates are also, disgustingly, pro-Israel. But Trump will never ever give a fuck to any protest on that matter.
You don't want to be complicit in genocide. I get it. But if you're a U.S. citizen, you're already benefiting from the U.S.'s foreign policy, and that's already complacency. Refusing to vote or voting third party isn't absolving you of that. It's just letting Trump walk in the door. And letting Trump in is complacency. And your ability to organize, and to make change, will go so less far against a Trump cabinet than a Harris one. The material harm under Trump is real.
Does voting for Harris make you feel guilty? I'm sorry, but you have to bear it. Your guilt isn't what's important. A white person's guilt isn't important. A citizen of a global terror's guilt isn't important. Actions that pacify your guilt aren't important. Focusing on absolving your guilt is in fact harmful, as opposed to actions that can actually materially reduce harm.
Please protest. Please donate to good causes. Please support Palestine. Please be vocal. Please fight for BIPOC and LGBTQA+ rights. Please view Harris as the opponent whose ears these things fall on. Your ability to organize safely, largely, loudly, and effectively will go so much further under a Harris presidency. Please.
Just going to add onto this with the position the Sunrise Movement (climate change group) made when I was text banking with them because I think it summed it up really nicely:
I know things seem really crazy out there right now. Trump would be a disaster environmentally (and otherwise) but voting is a chess move, not a valentine. Voting is not about selecting a political savior who will single handedly fix all of our problems, it’s about selecting the terrain that you can best move forward in. Movements throughout US history have accomplished incredible things. The best shot we have at transformational change is with Harris in office.
🙃
Labour Day is a good day to remember that hating your job isn’t actually normal. You can hate parts of it and have bad days, but if your main feeling is hating your job, you need to make a plan to get out.
I know sometimes online it’s easy to see other people posting about hating their own job and assuming that’s normal and just part of being an adult but it’s not. You should gain something from the work you do - a sense of accomplishment, a feeling that you’re important, something.
If you don’t? Make a plan. Get out.
““These guys are just weird, that’s what they are. It isn’t much else. Don’t give them the power. Look, are they a threat to democracy? Yes. Are they going to take our rights away? Yes. Are they going to put people’s lives in danger? Yes. Are they going to endanger the planet by not dealing with climate change? Yes. They are going to do all that. But don’t lift these guys up as if they’re some kind of hero. A bully has no self-confidence, a bully has no strength. The fascists depend on fear. The fascists depend on us going back. But we’re not afraid of weird people. We’re a little bit creeped out but we’re not afraid.””
