My first event decor!! Despite being at this whole author thing for 3 years now, I still feel like I'm crossing off some goals I should have thought about ages ago... like having a cute table for author events. I bought these for an event later this month in Michigan, but I'm unsure if I'll actually make it due to surgery and being so sick :( Fingers crossed!

Oh yeah, I forgot to post about it: I've been in the hospital a lot because my esophagus is wrong! I am IKEA furniture that god couldn't figure out ❤️

The fact that there are so many books being published about EVERYTHING that anyone could ever love brings me so much joy. You mean to tell me that while I'm writing about mutant forest monsters, someone else is writing about magical assassins, and someone else is writing about sprawling original fantasy worlds, and someone else is writing about music or sports or history? Hell yeah. Fuck yeah.

"A Lonely Broadcast - Book One" by Kel Byron (2023) Book Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I feel like I’ll be thinking about this for quite a while, and I’m very excited to dive into the second instalment. Byron writing her characters as brutally open about their traumas feels like reading a good friend’s diary, and she does a great job of driving the feeling of being desperate for connections into you without harping on and making it stale. I also love how the way Evelyn banter feels a little forced at first - like when you’re actually testing the waters with a new acquaintance - but soon slips into natural banter.

The writing feels a little slow at times, but not in a bad way - like it’s a way to not only describe the horrors in full, but also to let you sit with the lighter moments and take in a little peace.

I highly recommend this to fans of NoSleep (obviously), The X-Files, Nightvale, or anything in that vein of weird and wacky.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Somehow more compelling and intimate than the first instalment. The relationships of our three Operators feel even deeper, and the slow build of their willingness to share more of themselves and to be truly known feels earned, as does Evelyn’s decision to stay in Pinehaven and protect it at all costs.

Again, I highly recommend this to weirdos of all flavours. I would also recommend having a box of tissues handy.
