It really does baffle me that some people really think not all racism is equal. It doesnt matter if you have more history dealing with racism. Racism is racism, discrimination is discrimination, prejudice is prejudice. No matter what. No matter who it's directed at nor who is directing it. You dont have any justifications for being racist.
And like... It doesnt matter how much "harm" it does, btw you dont get to dictate how harmful something is when harming others, its still not the right thing to do. You arent a good person for being racist to white people and asians and non-blacks. You aren't justified or righteous. You are just a racist asshole. And you deserve to be called out as such.
Thats what equality is. When you are racist and treating others as not equal in value to yourself, you deserve consequences.
When you blackwash a white or asian character you are literally devaluing their identity. black people love to say whitewashing is always done with malevolent intentions, which even while not true. like at all, it still harmful in that whether intended or not, it still shows you do not respect or value black characters identities.
the same is true for blackwashing, when you blackwash characters who are literally saying you don't value their identities as white, asian, or non-black characters. you are saying those identities are lesser. and you cant say blackwashing is never done with malevolent intentions. we have ALL seen the "fixed it" slop that blackwashers create. we have all see the blatant dehumanization of white and asian, and even pale middle easterners from these people. the video below, first one made by a black man btw, shows a lot of great examples of how black people dont value anything that isnt "black enough".
and then this one
including the inclusivity bias one cuz i think its pretty relevent when you listen to what he says
I really love this video. This guy does a grand job explaining things
https://youtu.be/lu0IiKjMoFA?si=6V8BmAc4ySlU-1_x
and theres so so so much more.
And then we get into black people trying to say blackwashing doesn't have history. If something needs history to exist then nothing can exist. But even so, blackwashing DOES have history. And it's happening in real time.
This video talks about black people saying vikings were black. That the russians were black.
https://youtu.be/elxV5fLp2Hw?si=n_4bzntBuvZLKnTO
This one talking about blackwashing and historical revisionists for just about every culture ever from the americas, to europe, to the middle east, to asia.
This one talking about hollywood blackwashing hannibal (and semi cleopatra)
https://youtu.be/y0TDHqOq4Kc?si=pqSO4lJ1aK86Pxq-
This one talking ABOUT cleopatra
This one, FROM AN EGYPTIAN WOMAN, telling black people what they are doing in the cleopatra netflix series is rewriting and revisioning egyptian history and culture and their own people.
WE WATCHED IT HAPPEN WITH FUCKING ASSASSIN CREED SHADOWS! The fucking historical revisionism from that debacle was astounding.

And you can literally watch it happen it real time every time someone posts blackwashed "black edits" of anime characters. Asian characters. Anime is Asias representation to the world.
Blackwashing is real, it is happening and has been happening. You are creating its history. You devalue the lives, cultural and historical significance of nearly every nation and erase, replace and revise them to feature only black americans/africans. You are being unabashedly racist. Its not just "lol we just wanna see this fictional character with skin that looks like mine". You are actively taking part in a racist afrocentric movement aimed at colonizing and erasing, not just european cultures and histories, but also middle eastern and asian ones too.
When you blackwash that character you are saying you do not value the identity they represent or take inspiration from. You treat those identities as subhuman and not worth respecting. And you say it too when you say you can't relate to characters unless they share your skin tone. You are literally discriminating against anyone who is not black.
And whats more baffling is when black people refuse to engage with media that does actually represent them. Like they refuse to understand how entitled it actually is to claim the authors of the most mainstream anime and manga rightnow are racist and not diverse enough, all because their favorite media, specifically anime or manga aka asian representation, doesn't include mostly black characters. That their favorite characters aren't black by default. They are saying, get this, that they have favorite characters that are asian and that they cant relate to them unless they look black.
And that somehow isn't racist? That somehow isn't extremely racist and anti-asian? Hello?
The victim complexes of these people
The cognitive dissonance of these people
The entitlement of these people
The RACISM coming out of their mouths
And nothing is done because they can just throw out accusations and excuses like "the only reason people care is because they are black", "you are just racist against black people" "black people always get run out of fandom for doing anything" "our people were SLAVES and are oppressed by white people" etc etc
They posit themselves as perpetual victims who can do no wrong, that the wrongs they do arent actually wrong because theyve had those wrong done unto them.
Also couldnt fit this part anywhere else, but ive seen a lot of people try to say that the word blackwashing doesnt make sense, and it's just... Bro you are trying to argue about linguistics. A constantly changing and evolving concept.
Also people try to argue that the reason blackwashing being made as the inverse of whitewashing doesnt make sense because "whitewashing" was "washing the dirt off the skin". Which is a myth btw. Entirely made up like that one guy that tried arguing "knights" are called that because they were black and their skin was "dark as the night".
Whereas the actual definition, and the earliest, is about painting houses white with a special mixture.
Blackwashing also has the same meaning. To cover something with a dark paint like mixture.
Whitewashing and blackwashing both come from those words. "To cover up the original with something else," then adding "and then presenting it as if it is the original.". To erase someones race and paint over it with another race is racist no matter who is being erased and who is doing the erasing. The whole concept is racist, and no amount of suffering your ancestors may have faced will make it less racist for you to do it.
