“I’m almost not sure I even want to ask what could be weirder than that. Almost, but I’ll bite. What kind of shit did you grow up around?”
“I grew up in a travelling circus so.. all that weird stuff sick people pay to see. That was my normal.”
“Sounds like a really shitty time to be taking long,” Stella commented, stepping past the girl. “How’d you lose your key, anyway?”
“It’s alright. The hallways are empty for the most part so it’s not too bad,” the bubbly girl said with a small shrug, “Oh, I just left them at work. I’m always forgetting things.”
Darcy rolled her eyes, “So? I don’t care, you’re in my way…I don’t understand why you’ve decided to do that.”
“That’s why I said you can just step over me,” Kendall said calmly, “I decided to this because this is how I have to prepare for my job. I’d do it inside if I could.”
Aurora let out a small shrug, “it doesn’t matter to me. This isn’t even my apartment. How did you manage to lose your keys? Did you leave them in your apartment or something?”
“Oh, no, I just left them at work. My friend’s bringing them by, but until then I’m stuck out here!”
yeah i know u miss me it’s pretty hard to forget an angel

She said people like you scare me… I laughed
You are an absolute ray of sunshine and have such cool talents, you should be so insanely proud of yourself! :)
”Oh, thank you so much! You are such a sweetheart! This made my day!”
“Well, if you want you can just come into my apartment, without sounding creepy. I’ve got drinks and it’ll probably be better than just waiting out here.”
“Oh? Are you sure? I mean, I’ve got to go to work soon so I don’t know how good of company I’d be.”
“Hey, it doesn’t look that weird. You look pretty bored.” The male smiled at the brunette. “I would say to come in but it’s not my apartment. It’s a friends.”
“Bored? Not really. I guess I can keep myself occupied pretty easily.”
" not judging. more like i was impressed by how ——- flexible you are. gymnastics ? cheerleader ? “
“Oh.. thank you! I’m pretty flexible, I guess. Not gymnastics, and definitely not a cheerleader since I never actually went to school. I’m an acrobat.”
“Oh, wow! That’s so cool,” the girl admired, smiling. “I wouldn’t mind at all! You shouldn’t have to wait out here, especially not with how chilly it’s been getting lately,” she commented, leading the other to her apartment and unlocking the door. “I’m Nova, by the way,” she introduced herself with a smile, her blue eyes twinkling as she let the girl in first before going in after her. “So, how long have you been an acrobat? Do you do shows?”
“Thank you so much,” Kendall said with soft smile, always happy to be greeted with interest instead of disgust when she told someone the nature of her career. “Nice to meet you Nova, I’m Kendall,” she answered, walking inside the door before turning, “I’ve been an acrobat as long as I can remember, to be honest, but I’ve only been training professionally since I was 14. And yes, I do shows with cirque du Soleil. It’s a lot of fun.”
“Alright, alright sorry! You’re right, we should create more jobs. Take the calendar off of phones and hire people to follow us around to remind us what the date is. That’s obviously the better idea.”
“See, there you go. And since you’ve been so supportive, I’ll let you be my first investor. Also, do you know anyone with a sharp internal clock that needs a job?”
“Oh, it is. So is New York, for that matter. But Las Vegas feels more like home, in a way. Maybe it’s just because I prefer it over Kansas.”
“I relate to that. I’ve loved so many of the places I visited, but I’d never be able to live there. I.. fit in here. Any other city I’d be more of a novelty but Vegas is comfortable. I like that.”
“Well that’s not exactly what I expecting.” Jack didn’t really know what he had been expecting when his neighbor was doing the splits in the middle of the hallway, but at this point nothing could really surprise him. “This is the perfect place for that, huh? People apparently never get tired of seeing shows and shit like that.”
“Why else would I be doing splits outside?” Kendall asked, briefly thinking that maybe she wasn’t the crazy one in this interaction, “It is. I travelled all around the world when I was a kid, but Vegas is the only place you can do the same show every night and still get a big crowd.”
Sam nodded her head in agreement. “Yeah it’s kind of insane. Like your ego should not grow that much.” She let out a soft laugh. “Yeah I guess that’s kind of how life works in general.”
“I can’t imagine what they’d be like if someone gave them a position of real power,” Kendall joked, imagining that’s probably how dictators were made. “it’s really unfortunate, but there are ways to make life enjoyable despite that. Some people just have to work a little harder than others for it, I guess.”
