What are the Karasuno boys afraid of?
Okay so since I thought of this a while after I started typing I will be having Volleyball and friend centered fears and then generalized fears.
Sawamura Daichi is afraid of not being a good enough captain and failing them at the last match; thus preventing them from going onto the nationals. This is something that he does everything in his power to prevent from happening, he wants to be able to give them all a good send-off for the end of the season and year. Daichi also has a small phobia of squirrels.
Koushi Sugawara is afraid of his team falling apart and not being able to salvage anything from it. Suga is big on keeping his team together and steady in a sense; so the thought of his team falling apart at the seams is something that would keep him awake at night if any of them happened to get into a fight with one another. It’s why he always tries to be the refreshing reassuring voice of the team that keeps them all together until the last moment. Suga is afraid of empty uncomfortable silence. If he can hear his heartbeat and nothing else, he immediately tenses up. To him it feels like nothing is right; after being around such loud people for so long silence doesn’t seem right to him. Sometimes even the quiet room of a test can make him anxious.
Aasahi Azumane is afraid of disappointing his team, his friends and his family. More so than anything he is afraid he’ll be so useless and unneeded by them that he’ll be replaced. Oh gosh what isn’t he afraid of? Um I believe that Asahi would be afraid of being yelled at directly. He’s pretty okay at dealing with just yelling but the moment it is directed toward him whether it be in a bad way or excited way he is already tearing up.
Yuu Nishinoya has an incredible fear of being forgotten. I have this headcanon that he is the middle child of 7 children. 3 older and younger. This fear is stemmed off of him being forgotten constantly when he is at home, so much so that his own parents forget when he is home and when he is gone. I believe that is why he tends to be so rambunctious and loud around his friends; so that he is certain he won’t be forgotten.
Ryunosuke Tanaka is afraid that he may all in all be a disappointment to his teammates and friends. He is afraid that he may mess something up during a match and lose the support and trust of his teammates resulting in him being benched for the remainder of the season. Tanaka also has a fear of the supernatural and is a tad bit superstitious.
Chikara Ennoshita fears that he may not live up to the legacy he is more than likely going to inherit from Daichi. He’s afraid of being a terrible captain and costing his team wins and their structure. He’s afraid the team is going to fall apart because he took over. Ennoshita is afraid of getting an F in a subject.
Kazuhito Narita is afraid that he may one day just disappear from his friend circle and no one even notice. He’s afraid that he hasn’t made much of an imprint on his friends and once the moment arises that they’d leave him behind without a second thought.
Hisahi Kinoshita is afraid of being the guy that ultimately lets his team down. He knows he’s not a big member to his team so the thought of doing something that could let them down or could even bring them down in any way scares him. Kinoshita also has a fear of dolls and mannequins. He doesn’t like the doll eyes because he feels like they watch him. He more than likely has a younger sister who on more than one occasion has posed her dolls around his bed whenever she is upset with him.
Tobio Kageyama is afraid of middle school reoccurring for him. He’s afraid that he’ll be the “Tyrant King of the Court” once more and all of his friends will turn their backs on him and he’ll be alone again. He doesn’t want to go back to the lonely life of being alone on and off the court especially after he’s gained so many friends. Tobio also has a fear of loud sudden noises, such as things dropping on a linoleum floor or thunder.
Shouyou Hinata is afraid of essentially being as bad as everyone thinks he was. He’s afraid he’s going to be in such a slump that he’ll never be able to recover or reach his dream of being a player like the Little Giant. Hinata is also afraid of the unknown, like any part of the ocean he cannot see. It will instantly put him into a panic.
Kei Tsukishima is afraid that he may become like his brother; and be a former star player. Despite his cold harsh exterior and mentality Tsuki fears that his skills will only get him so far and that he’ll eventually be benched and not play; like Suga and his brother. Tsuki also has a fear of heights, such as planes and ferris wheels.
Tadashi Yamaguchi is afraid that he that he will not be good enough and that he will be such a disappointment that everyone will leave him behind and he’ll end up alone. More than anything he is afraid of Tsuki finding him as a nuisance and a useless friend thus truly leaving him. Yamaguchi is also afraid of big dogs! Anything higher than his calf makes him uncomfortable.
