hello, i don’t think you’ll ever see this, and please don’t feel pressured to respond… but what happened in the 2020–2021 haikyuu discourse that made you and so many amazing people leave the fandom? i was around then, but i guess i only saw the sweet side of kagehina shipping, and i’m only now discovering that it wasn’t always nice… for so many people. either way, it’s just curiosity that brought me here. you don’t need to share—just sad to see y’all amazing people go.

hopefully one day you can return and enjoy haikyuu (without all the toxicity yall had to go thru)
Hii omg, lol i decided to open this app on a good day.
well im gonna be honest, 2020-2022 haikyuu fandom on twitter was hell for people who were into the manga and talked about canon stuff.
me and my friends (aka the group of people who used to talk about manga canon) would simply be tweeting like usual manga stuff, and there comes the entire fandom and especially the side characters stans to dismiss our opinions and just hurl insults at us
i do understand people are side characters stans and don't ship the main leads, thats cool, but to always intentionally interact with our tweets just to be hateful,,was shitty.
back then, i had the energy to deal with all that and engage in stan twitter and anime twitter wars, slowly it started to drain me honestly, so I left, however me graduating from uni and getting a corporate job has something to do with that too, adulting doesn't seem to leave a lot of time to engage with all this.
I honestly wish i could go back and engage with the new haikyuu fans and go back to being active but life doesn't seem to let me have the time for that, I'm starting college again for further higher education and honestly idk if I'm the same person as I was before to write paragraphs on haikyuu, although I loved absolutely loved analyzing every moment and enjoying furudates work, idk if my social bandwidth can handle that 🥹🥹
But i still miss 2020-2022 haikyuu fandom because the manga was still ongoing, we used to wait for chapters to drop the excitement and the rush, i miss it.
Although I'm still active on my twitter account, not tweeting so much but reposting and yapping a little bit (u can dm to know my @ although i think you may already know)
And other people who were active with me back then are still lurking through their other accounts however i guess most of us have moved on to other hobbies and fandom spaces meanwhile :)
Thankyou anon for this ask, kinda made me feel like i do actually exist and people remember me, it's a nice feeling.
please don't hesitate to dm or ask me anything <3
I hope you have a great day ^^

No, the villains of MDZS do not actually have any redeeming qualities. They have a glimmer of humanity, in the case of Xue Yang cherishing the candy given to him by Xiao Xingchen, Jin Guangyao finding Lan Xichen a kind man, and Jiang Cheng loving Jin Ling. But none of the above is a redeeming quality. Because they still are the ones actively harming who they "loved". Especially in the case of Xue Yang and Jin Guangyao.
Xue Yang took active pleasure in having Xiao Xingchen kill innocent people because the man was blind (literally and metaphorically to Xue Yang's monstrosity). Lan Xichen was purposely blinding himself to Jin Guangyao's depravities and his own lack of facing his hypocrisy by using the fact he was friends with a man that came from a sympathetic hard life, which Jin Guangyao used while aspiring to be his father (that lacked morals).Jiang Cheng is arguably the most sympathetic here, as he did mean well when it came to Jin Ling. But his own hatred and selfishness took precedence to any actual kindness and tolerance he could have raised Jin Ling with.
The first two were always going to be scum because they found nothing wrong with how they manipulated and hurt others for their own benefits. Jiang Cheng runs away from his guilt and hurts others to his detriment. There is a reason the only one that lives is Jiang Cheng. And that's due to him still having a semblance of humanity still within him to actually do better by the one he loves.
This doesn't make him a good person. But it sure makes him a less shitty one that can still do something by not manipulating and using the one he loves as his shield for an excuse. The other two died never thinking they ever wronged the people they killed while still making excuses for themselves. It was always someone else's fault. Jiang Cheng had the chance to stop doing that and did for once in his life.
One of my roommates is from China and neither of us speaks the other’s language but lately when she’s in a chatty mood she comes into our kitchen and shows me these douyin Matt Damon x Ben Affleck RPF videos and puts her theories about how Ben has been pining for Matt into google translate for me to read. fujoing out transcends language barriers

I too watched the hbomberguy video and went straight to Twitter, whereupon I found that James Somerton had mentioned danmei in one of his videos and it made everyone mad, so I went looking and. yeah here's a full transcription of his just completely incorrect coverage of cql and mdzs from "Hollywood's (Gay) China Problem" so you don't have to watch it and give him views:
"The 2019 fantasy series The Untamed, featuring an unlikely bond between a man with magic powers and a stoic prince, started an online craze over the pair's implicit romance, but the show's promotion focused on its portrayal of Chinese traditional culture, a push consistent with Chinese communist party propaganda.
The show was... Queerbait-y. But the novel on which it was based [shows a picture of the fanmade cover for The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation made by fan translator team Exiled Rebels] certainly was not. That featured a very explicit love story between the two main characters, but was self-censored when adapted to meet the censorship guidelines of the Xi Jinping government. But it didn't matter. Like so much queerbaiting before, people saw through the weak veneer of heterosexuality. They "took the bait", so to speak. The series has accumulated a total of 9.5 billion views in China as of this summer, and had also received an international release via Netflix. It was described as a global phenomenon, taking off like no BL series before it, making its way all around Asia and with the Netflix deal, all across Europe and North America as well.
Tencent, the Chinese streaming platform it originated on, saw 2.6 million new subscribers to the service when it was released. And WeTV, an app that lets you watch BL content anywhere in the world, saw growth of 250% while the show was airing. In January of 2020, the cast members planned to embark on a multi-city, worldwide fan meeting tour. Cities included Bangkok, Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Macau, Kuala Lumpur, Toronto, Los Angeles, New York... But it was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Even the Chinese government has endorsed it. The overseas popularity of these romantic sword-wielding heroes is often highlighted in Chinese media coverage focusing on the massive overseas streaming numbers and its ability to build a growing appreciation of the charm of Chinese culture."
Why reconciliation wouldn't ever happen between Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian:
1: Because Wei Wuxian has learned he can want more and better for himself without anyone's permission to reach out for it when and if he wants it. He doesn't want or need Jiang Cheng in his life.
2: Jiang Cheng doesn't have the empathy or understanding to reach out to Wei Wuxian to bridge a thing since he doesn't get or want to see Wei Wuxian as an equal or a person with just as many feelings of importance as his own. He will never understand that last point.
3: They never saw or viewed the other as a "brother" due to their own stations as well as Jiang Cheng through Madam's Yu's influence seeing him as nothing more than a servant that got arrogant and belittled Jiang Cheng constantly and simply caused problems out of spite towards them.
4: Wei Wuxian vastly cares far more about Lan Wangji and never wanting him to be demeaned cruelly the way he knows and unfortunately had to see Jiang Cheng demean Lan Wangji several times just because he does know it would upset Wei Wuxian.
5: Jiang Cheng had no sort of empathy for the Wens themselves and continued to frame it as Wei Wuxian being selfish and leaving him despite Jiang Cheng having gained a safe answer secured position because of Wei Wuxian's talent.
6: Jiang Cheng doesn't know how to not be resentful of Wei Wuxian since as long as he has known him. Their ideals were never and have never been the same.
Mobei Jun is like yaoi distilled he's so extremely yaoi because there's no reason for him to exist besides for sqhs enjoyment.. he doesn't even have a personality or a character arc in pidw just huge tits and he's mean. Truly a being with no end no climax and no meaning. The purest seme

i would like to personally thank supernatural for existing just so that i can sit here, 18 years after the show first aired, and watch a thai bl with canon omegaverse
the funniest thing about pit babe the series, the first omegaverse show, is that not only did they not say that it is omegaverse until the episode 1 aired but they didn't even explain what it is in the episode, they just assumed we are all fucking degenerates and just will know what is happening and they are RIGHT
gonna tell my kids this was pit babe the series
Lan Xichen is the most eligible young master, Lan Wangji is second…. etc etc etc. BUT the main question is, who actually compiles these lists? Is there a ‘Sexiest Man’ list magazine? Do ladies run it? Do elders run it? Where are their meetings? When are their meetings? Who hosts them? What is the frequency of these meetings? Where are the results published? Or announced? QUESTIONS QUESTIONS….
As soon as I can revive him from the dead the wedding is BACK ON !!!!
Seeing a lot of people in the tags looking at my account and thinking this was meant for wangxian but it's important to me that everyone understands the nuances of lan wangji my favorite boy so I must correct the narrative: lwj fully believed his love was unrequited and was fine with it, and had moved on post-wwx death keeping his memory alive. He would not have planned a wedding for when wwx came back, nor would he have specifically revived wwx to marry him, because he would always respect wwx's decision to be free and would never try to chain him to a world that hates him only to fulfill his own desires; it's important that he's eternally accepting of wwx and overjoyed at his return, but that he was not the decision maker in this case.

I (26 F) divorced and banished my husband (29 F?) because she killed my dad but we're both really sad about it. So I had her kidnapped and now I keep her secretly in the back rooms of my palace. AITA?
