Lucy thought taking Mia to get ice cream seemed like the best way for the little girl to get used to Kevin being around more. Mia already seemed to like Kevin, but Lucy just wanted to make sure she was comfortable since her daughter would always be her biggest priority. She couldn’t remember the last time she was this happy, and she felt relieved to officially be Kevin’s girlfriend again. “Mia can’t decide between cookie dough or mint chocolate chip, care to weigh in?” Lucy asked, offering Kevin a smile. “I told her cookie dough, but we could use a second opinion,” she laughed.
@kevromero
To say he was nervous was an understatement; he had already met Mia but it didn’t take away the pressure of having the little girl to like him, but most importantly, that his presence wasn’t uncomfortable to her. It was new territory for him too, since he didn’t have much experience with toddlers, but he was willing to work hard for this in order to make both of them happy, He smiled at his girlfriend, before looking down at the little girl. “It’s a tough one, huh? I say cookie dough too, but maybe -just maybe if your mom say yes,” he shot a quick glance at Lucy before returning his attention to Mia, “we could order two flavor and share.”
Hey everyone, how you’re doing? Just wanted to make sure you’re staying safe, staying healthy out there. - JD Pardo (Instagram, May 6 2020)

As nervous as Lucy was, she knew this was the right step to take. What happened with Pax had hurt her so badly that she was hesitant to begin another relationship, but she knew she wanted that with Kevin. Truly, she had never stopped loving him. “Of course you did…we always seem to be on the same page lately,” she said with a smile. Interlocking her fingers with Kevin’s, she looked at him for a second. God, it was like he could read her mind. “I would love to be your girlfriend, Kevin. I’ve been trying to think of a good time to have this conversation, and I’m so glad you’re saying something about it now,” she said before closing the gap between them and placing a kiss on his lips. “Let’s make it official, yeah? Mia will be happy because she’ll have another person to give her attention,” she laughed.
“Yeah, we’re this close to finish each other’s sentences.” Even when things were flowing smoothly between them, it all seemed right and as if no time had passed, he was couldn’t help to be slightly scared about what she could say when he brought up the topic. Needless to say, hearing she was feeling the exact same thing not only gave him relief but also made his smile grow. “God, I’ve wished for this for so long. I was just self doubtin’ you wanted the same.” The man returned the kiss sweetly but slightly fiercely, not wanting to let go. “She’ll be even more spoiled now,” he laughed softly, thinking about what Lucy had told him about the girl, and not wanting to dwell much on what her father would say of this. “After you talk to her and test the waters, can I take you both to Coney Island? Does she even like that?”

at this point, harry was almost immune to the ‘prince’ jokes he kept getting from pretty much everyone at the station. but when it came to kevin, harry just couldn’t take anything to heart. even if he wanted to try to be mad at it, roll his eyes at him, something — he never could. kevin was more of a friend than anyone else at their job. so he reciprocated the enthusiastic greeting with the same amount of excitement the other man put in, patting his back as a reflex at this point. “can you believe it? officially off the market.” once he pulled away from the embrace, he gestured towards himself with his hands, as if to make a further point to his statement. “thanks, mate. i thought it’d be a given! if cecelia is against the floral shirts, there is only one thing to do. and that is to wear the floral shirts. come on! a given.” he joked. “it’s great to see you here, though. floral shirt or not, you’re always beautiful. have you got yourself a date in this look yet?”
“i’m happy for you, man. how are you feelin’? now you’ll be out of my team for our next singles vs married game.” kevin thought that if he were the one getting married, he would be having all sorts of feelings going at the same time. “you know i totally support your decision, as long as you don’t end up divorced in the next couple of minutes because of it,” he chuckled, teasing his friend. “you’re gonna make me blush, thanks. actually, i did...” he paused, trying to be mysterious. “not really because of this look, but lucy is my date tonight ─and luckily for every other day too.”
riveralameda:
“I could use a very hot girl giving me a massage right about now.” River sighed as she plopped in the open bar seat. “My arms, my shoulders, hell, my back…everything’s like…tense and sore and-” she stretched in her seat, “shit.” Her past couple of shifts had been long and stressful ones and her exhaustion was evident in her voice. “Can I crash with you tonight? One of my roommates is bringing a guy home and I’m fairly confident they’ll be going at it all night and I could just use some quiet.” Looks like she could use a lot of things, actually.
( @cityofdreamsstarters )
“Don’t we all?” He luckily had a very hot girl in his life already, but he just wanted to agree with his friend about her comment, because the long shifts really messed you up physically. “I don’t think my couch would help your old bones, but if you wanna give it a go anyways, be my guest.” The latino had known River for a long time, he trusted her enough for her to stay. “If you wanna eat something, I’d say let’s do it now ‘cause there’s nothing left on my fridge.”
lilacjones:
“Not a threat– a promise. Bold of you to assume you could catch me, Romero. Anyway, I’m oh so thankful you like me,” Lila retorted but cleared her throat as she caught sight of her flushed cheeks in the mirror. “B-Because my gym is opening soon and I don’t need bad publicity which would come with being locked up,” she shot KJ a daring look before she went to stand beside him, ready to stretch after a heated work-out session and before one. “Well, for one I could keep you company and maybe teach you a thing or two. –Come on buddy, think fast, I’ll be down on the floor doing Bear Crawl in ten seconds,” her gaze snapped back at him at his next words: this is my chance to bring it up again. “A pretty long ass shift already? Damn, can’t they give you a break after Quantico?”
“Are you tellin’ me you’re good avoidin’ the law? Damn, you keep buryin’ yourself down even more,” he grinned teasingly, amused by the banter they were having. Being a cop, he should have picked certain things, but Kevin was oblivious to Lila’s bashful reaction to his previous comment. “Okay, okay. I’m gonna spare you from detention until your gym hit it off and all that. Then, we’ll talk. Speakin’ of which, when is the grand openin’?” The male said as he started stretching his quadriceps, turning his head to listen to the other. “You’re the trainer here, we encourage one another but I’m here to learn too, so do tell me what I’m doin’ wrong.” In response to her question, he let out a soft snort followed by an eye roll. “Don’t remember the last time I had a break, at least I got some decent nights of sleep over there. And didn’t have someone naggin’ me to do more reps for a change.”
lucymnt:
“I already know she’s on a sugar high. Did you see that desert table?” Lucy said, letting out a laugh. It was fine, though. Mia didn’t get to go to events like this often, so could let her go crazy just this once. “Thank you, Kevin. You know green is one of my signature colors.” That, black, and the occasional pink were her favorites. “And you look handsome as always. That suit looks great,” she said, gesturing to it. After making their way to the dance floor, they danced for a while and even managed to get to the photo booth. Their night was going perfectly so far, and Lucy could think of another thing that would make it better.
“Come on, let’s go get some air for a minute. I hear there’s a cute patio area and I’ve been dying to check it out,” she said, taking his hand and walking towards the outside area. It would be the perfect place for them to talk and have a moment alone. Once they got outside, she stopped and looked up at the string lights. “I was also thinking we could talk, because I think we need to have this conversation,” she said, hoping he knew where she was going. “I just wanted to let you know that you make me incredibly happy…and I have absolutely no interest in seeing anyone else.”
The man laughed at Lucy’s statement, nodding his head adamantly. “Can’t blame her though, they’re all pretty temptin’. So, I guess I gotta say good luck then.” Kids and sugar were never a good combination, but they all seemed to be having fun. “I like it, the color suits you well. You’d look good even if you came in your PJ’s, though,” he added sincerely. For him she always looked good. “Thanks, babe, All this is yours.”
After they were done with both the dancing and the silly pictures, Kevin smiled as she took his hand, guiding him to the patio. “Yes, ma’am,” he replied playfully as they walked. It was a really beautiful night, and the place was romantic enough to have some time alone. As she started to speak again, he couldn’t help to quirked a brow for a few seconds, wondering what she wanted to talk about, though he relaxed when he figured they were both having the same thought. “Seems we’re connected, I wanted to talk about us too.” Taking both of her hands into his, he looked at her in the eyes. “I ...like you, a lot, and I feel happier now that you’re back in my life. There’s nothing I’d want more than callin’ you my girlfriend again,” he paused, letting the thought sink, “I know it’s different with Mia in your life, so if I have to wait and keep this between us until you figure out how or when to tell her, I’ll do it. Both of you are my priority now,” he reassured her and planted a soft kiss on her hand.
iain-fraser:
“I will admit to you here and now that you are the friendliest neighbor that I’ve meet thus far. And one of few that I’ve been more than a few times. But I’m just thankful that the people above me and next to me aren’t loud. It is risky renting a place sight unseen,” he laughed. “Well I don’t think it exists or I’ve fallen for some sort of prank because I’ve been up and down this street more than one,” he admitted as he turned his phone over for the other man to see. “Ever heard of it? Or have a better option.”
“Thank you! At least I know of someone who thinks that, I mean, I’m most of the time out of my apartment anyways so I barely talk to any of them. You’re near the Browns, right?” Most of his neighbors respected him and trusted him because they knew he was a cop, not much because they could pin him as friendly, though he did help a handful of them at one point or another. Taking the other’s phone, he checked the place that was marked. “Oh, yeah. It exists, they didn’t lie to you. You might have missed it because it’s closed today, but it’s a good one. What you feelin’ eatin’ right now? There are some other options.”
larisms:
“I just haven’t had the time,” she released a light sigh and gave a slight shrug before wiggling her eyebrows at Kev, steering the conversation in a more joking direction. “You will see for yourself if I ever decide to get married and force you to be my Maid… Well, Sir? Knight? Of Honor,” she nudged him playfully but heaving a sigh, letting her head fall gently against his shoulder as she kept caressing her stomach. “No, I’m fine. I’m just… Silly. Speak without thinking first,” sometimes I end up hurting myself with the ugly truth. “You know what, one of these days I will stop invading your privacy and you’re gonna be sorry. You’re gonna miss it,” she stuck out her tongue at him. “I gave you Hugh because I thought you liked him as an actor,” the blonde laughed. “Fine though, if you insist, you’re allowed to have both Alicia and Armie and fangirl over them with me. Don’t think I won’t ask you and demand an extended answer on top five sexy things about Alicia and Armie after the movie.” Lara teased and she grabbed a slice of the cheese pizza and took a bite. “You don’t know what you’ve gotten yourself into, bud. Why haven’t we mentioned Henry Cavill yet, by the way?”
“You have to make yourself time to eat. Jesus, why would you do if I didn’t feed you, huh?” He teased, throwing her an amused look, followed by a soft chuckle at her words. “Oh, like Patrick Dempsey on that movie, without the stealin’ the bride part. But don’t worry, I’ll follow you around with a plate and make sure you eat. If hypothetically you get married,” he commented, flashing her a smirk. The male rub caressed her arm gently, placing a light kiss on her head as she rested it on his shoulder. “It’s not silly, okay? I know it must be hard to adapt to the situation, but there’s always hopin’. You’re still young, maybe there’s a solution in a couple of years, you never know.” He wasn’t sure of that, but medicine was advancing so fast that it could happen eventually. “Oh yeah? When is this happenin’ exactly? I need to mark that day on my calendar,” he teased, nudging her. “I like Hugh, okay? He plays the same kind of character always, but he’s funny and lovable. And Notting Hill is a romcom classic, can’t say anything bad.” Said with a light shrug. “Alright, you’re on. I’ll start makin’ the list as we watch and then we compare if we got the same thoughts.” He reached for a beer, opening it and taking a long sip, before another bite of pizza. “That is a very good question, but probably depends if we wanna judge Superman or Witcher Henry.”
hvandenbrg:
harry couldn’t think of the last time he had a full night’s sleep. it had probably been recently, but given the fact theo’s sleeping schedule had got all messed up recently, it felt like he had never, ever slept. so of course, he was nothing but flattered as kevin picked him to work at a time he could’ve been sleeping. or not, to be quite honest, it was a matter of chance at that point… so maybe he would’ve also been awake. if that were the case, he’d have to give the points to kevin, for at least getting him to do something less frustrating than rocking a fussy baby back to sleep. when he’d fallen asleep on the chair? he had no idea. all he knew was that he had been abruptly awoken and almost swore, but his brain and his mouth were still disconnected during his first seconds back as a functioning human being. “well, aren’t you a ray of sunshine?” the englishman teased, stretching his back on the chair. “i was born ready,” no, he definitely wasn’t. “but you’re sure we can’t take a teensy cat nap before we go?” he added, still making no obvious attempt to get out of the chair.
seeing the other’s reaction to be woken up, only brought a smirk to his lips. he couldn’t blame him for being asleep, he had done that several times during those insane long late night shifts. “you can call yourself lucky you’re not workin’ under my team, pretty sure you’d hate me.” he was grabbing his jacket, the surveillance car’s keys and some folders from his desk when harry spoke again. “no naps —for now at least. guess you’ll have time to sleep on the car.” the latino flashed him a grin as he led the way towards the underground parking. they only needed some license plates changes and they would be ready to go. “we gotta stop for some coffee before we get there, it’s gonna be a long night, my friend. and because i’m good, i’ll let you pick the place.”
teresabaldini:
For a Wednesday afternoon, the laundromat was annoyingly full. Thankfully, with her flirting skills, it had been easy to score herself a machine and before she knew her first load had been down. At the sound of the buzzer, she jumped down the machine and lift the lid to take out her freshly cleaned clothes. “Oh no,” Her exclamation rang out over the sound of the machines and music playing from the overhead TVs. “No!” She let out another longer cry as she frantically pulled out her clothes. Each article of clothing was a sickening shade of Pepto Bismol. “Not again! How the fuck did this happen?” Desperate for a solution, she turned to ask the person beside her, “Hey, do you have bleach by any chance?”
@cityofdreamsstarters
When he walked in the laundromat, it was just in time to witness the whole going crazy mode of his neighbor. As the place was already crowded, Kevin walked closer to where Teresa was washing her clothes. “Damn, what happened there?” The latino asked as soon as he spotted the stain on the fabric, that was some really bad luck. “It’s a extreme measure, you really think it’s worth the try? I have some here, but maybe you would want to reconsider.”
rosalinewx:
Rosaline was having a fun time. Really, they were. The day had turned out better than anyone could have imagined. Yet, despite all of that, it was a little overwhelming. There were people that had come over for this wedding that they hadn’t seen in years. They had known it was going to be hard at points. Even if these people were the ones they got along with, like her grandparents. It was something they had run away from. It was a reminder of who they were, despite all their pretending. So, they had taken a break. They had gone off into the nearest hallway and stood with their forehead resting on the wall, trying to take moment. That was when Kevin found them. They jumped, startled by the sudden apeparance of someone else. immediately, they plastered a grin to their face. “No, no. Just- uh, just takinga. breather is all. Very busy you know. Lots of people.”
Pursing his lips slightly, he offer them a nod as he leaned his back against the wall, making Rose company. If they were going to stay for a while, at least he didn’t want them to be alone. “Yeah, it’s a crowded party. Your cousin is a very popular person, “ he mentioned offering a grin. “You havin’ fun at least? Found any suitable singles to mingle?” He was teasing his friend of course, but he never knew, maybe they actually found someone.
larisms:
“For all you know I might be wearing gloves but they might be the color of my skin so you can’t see them and you don’t know what’s in nowadays anyway,” she quipped, sending yet another smartass look his way. To be fair, neither did she, never following the latest fashion trends. “Brother-bear-in-crime, put your knowledge to good use and help me find the culprit. Who looks suspicious to you?” Lara questioned, arching an eyebrow in a dramatic manner. “Skipping class, interesting. Seems me we do have a lot in common. Is there anything else about high school KJ I have to know about before recruiting you?”
The oddness of her statement, not to mention it was something nearly impossible, only made his amusement to grow, though he would play pretend he was offended by his lack of style. “Ouch, who needs enemies with you. I don’t need to follow trends, I make my own style. Like this, I know I look hot.” An outfit he rented just as it was displayed on the mannequin, there was not thought behind it. “Well, a lot of people are pretty drunk right now. When did you find this exactly? We could check for the ones who were near the statue.” A sly smirk played on his lips as he shrugged nonchalantly at her question. “Well, Lari, there are a lot of things you don’t know about high school me, but let’s keep it that way. I can tell you, I also sneaked out of my house at night.”
lucymnt:
“It helps her best friend is here too. The two of them are inseparable,” Lucy laughed. Despite her opinion of Cecelia, she thought Jack was a nice boy and was a very good friend to Mia. “Yes, you do, don’t you?” She said, the slightest hint of a smirk playing on her lips. Kevin made her so happy, and she hoped someday soon they’d decide to make whatever their relationship was official. It was clear they both weren’t seeing anyone else. “I can’t wait to see what kind of props there are. I don’t know why, but I feel like you’d rock a pair of giant sunglasses,” she laughed, following him to the dance floor. Once they got there, she placed one hand on his shoulder and closed the distance between them. “Hope you can handle my dance moves.”
“That’s adorable, childhood friends are the best kind of friends. And unless she gets all hyped up on sugar now, you won’t have problems gettin’ her to sleep with all that energy spent.” An amused expression appearing on his features at the thought. “Might be the whole wedding thing or you lookin’ so gorgeous in that green dress, I don’t know.” There was a teasing tone on his words, though it was clear both things had pretty much to do with him wanting to enjoy an alone time with her the most he could. It was probably a good opportunity to finally make it official, he didn’t know how much longer he could stay without calling Lucy his girlfriend. “You’re on! I’ll put the glasses on, and you could use one of those hats with wigs,” he winked at her as they walked. As Lucy placed a hand on his shoulder, he followed suit, placing his on her hips, starting to sway at the rhythm of the music -or trying to at least. “Got a feelin’ you’ll end up teachin’ me some moves when you I start embarrassin’ you,” he laughed.
lucymnt:
Lucy did know a good number of people at the wedding, so she had been speaking with some people she knew while Kevin was off congratulating the groom. Feeling arms wrap around her, a smile spread across her face. “Yes, I will say this wedding is better than I thought it would be. Mia’s having a lot of fun, too,” she said. She was so proud of her daughter for being such an amazing flower girl. She was glad Pax managed to convince her to let Mia do it. As Lucy kissed Kevin back, she slipped her hand into his. “I’d love to dance with you. What do you say we do that and then check out that photo booth?”
“I think the kids area was genius, they can easily get bored on parties like this, and last time I checked, she was bouncin’ like there was no tomorrow,” he laughed. “Besides I get to have you all for myself for a few minutes,” he mentioned, nuzzling her neck briefly. It was the first party they attended together, or sort of at least, so he wanted to take advantage of every time he had to be with Lucy. He smiled against her lips as their hand entwined and she mentioned the photo booth. “Oh, you got it. I wanna use some of those cool props for it. Okay, let’s show ‘em what we got.” He was a terrible dancer, but Kevin didn’t care as long as they were both having fun, so he was leading the way to the dance floor.
