Wait what?? Did he really do that?!
Ā There are special glasses for sports... They are much more resistant and have a strap so they donāt fall from your head. My brother used to play tennis and basketball with one of theseĀ
My Olympic Experience
Ā Hello! So, Iāve been wanting to write about my olympic experience for a long time, but Iām lazy and writing in english is too tiring (and I donāt write well in English haha).Ā
Ā I worked in Rio with the Olympic family (Presidents of countries, royalty, sponsors, presidents of federations and confederations, members of fig and this kind of people) and it was amazing. I thought some of them were going to treat me like trash, but the biggest majority of them were really nice.Ā
Ā Thereās a lounge for the olympic family at the Rio Olympic Arena (the gymnastics arena) and I worked there, checking credentials, giving information and helping them to find their places at the bleachers (that was the best thing to do, cause we could watch the competitions).
Ā Ā On my first day I worked at the load zone, the olympic familyās entrance for the arena. On the right there was another entrance that gave access to the places that the gymnasts stayed (the training gym and the competition arena) and since it was the first day everyone was a little bit lost. So, on my first 5 minutes of work, Arthur Nory got out by that entrance and asked me and the volunteer that was with me where the bus for the Olympic village was. While the other volunteer answered him I was like āomg, did he just talked to me? Is this real life? Am I in heaven?!ā (yes, Iām a little dramatic, but I really love gymnastics).
Ā Ā Then, in less than 5 minutes Epke Zonderland showed up there and I almost had a heart attack (he is even prettier in person!) and again I asked myself what did I do to deserve to be in that place. A few hours later the prince of Denmark and John Kerry passed by me.
Ā Ā At the end of my shift I was exhausted (I worked for 9 hours) and just wanted to lay down, but my ābossā told me and the other volunteers that when all the olympic family was gone we could eat all their food. So every day at the end of my shift I could eat all the food and eat all the cakes and ice creams and since I love food that was like heaven to me (yes, I had gymnastics all day and free food everday! Best work eveeer!)
Ā One day my position was at the information desk inside the lounge and although I couldnāt watch the competition (hearing the crowd cheering and having no idea about what was going on made me really nervous), it was really nice! The olympic family came for information and we could talk to them more than in any other position. Sometimes I was there talking to the volunteer that was working with me (the ātransportation girlā) and people like the prince of Monaco passed by. But at that day there was some trouble with their transportation, so I had to deal with some angry people⦠But honestly I didnāt care cause I did everything I could and no one was mad at me, they were mad at the Rio organization.
Ā Ā Once I was working at a bleacher and Shawn Johnson showed up, but she isnāt a part of the olympic family, so she couldnāt stay there. A girl that was working with me and didnāt know who she was, wanted to take her out but I told her that Shawn had a honor ticket because she asked me to just let her stay to watch the american girls on floor. On another day I was working at one of the entrances for the olympic familyās lounge and Nastia Liukin and her parents passed by (she is so skinny!). I was like āomg, thatās nastia!ā and the volunteer that was working with me was like āok, I donāt know who that isā¦ā. Epke Zonderland showed up once and I donāt know what he wanted because the volunteers told him something and he left. Brinn Bevan also did that and in both times inside I was like ānooo, come back, talk to me!ā hahah
Ā My first day off was at womenās team final, so I bought a ticket and there I was again at the Rio Olympic Arena. That was the first day I saw the russians, my favourite team, because in qualification I was working inside the arena. Aliya Mustafina, Viktoria Komova and Ksenia Afanasyeva are my favorite gymnasts, Iām a huge fan of them, and seeing Aliya was enough for me. I broke down and couldnāt stop crying haha. People seating near me probably though I was crazy, because I was crying a lot! Then I calmed down, but sometimes in the middle of the competition I started to think about the fact that the russian girls were right there, just a few meters away, and I started crying again. So yes, people though that I was crazy. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if Vika and Afan were also competing⦠I guess I would faint or just die⦠When they got silver I was so happy for them! With the american team, getting silver is like getting gold haha
Ā Before the medal ceremony I went to the toilet and when I was going there I saw the one and only: Oksana Chusovitina!! We were in a hallway and there were just us there, I asked for a picture and told her how amazing she was. My phoneās camera suckes and the picture sucks, but I noticed that she was in a hurry so I didnāt ask for another and still, that picture is very special to me.
Ā On the following days the number of seats for the olympic family increased, so we had one more bleacher to work at. And that bleacher was beside the athletes seats! There were volunteers to help the athletes to find their sits, but we worked at the same place, so we also helped them. A lot of gymnasts passed by me and if anyone looked at me I was just smiling and helping them, but inside I was like āOMG, Jake Dalton, Gabby Douglas, Eythora Thorsdottir and all the others gymnasts you can think of, just passed by!!!ā. It was bizarre. Like, Iāve been watching these people on TV and internet for a long time and theyāve always seemed so out of reach, so far away, Iāve never though that one day I would talk to them. I loved to work at that bleacher, it was my favorite position!
Ā Ā Ā Nadia Comaneci was at the lounge every day and she is adorable! She greeted the volunteers every day, in portuguese. The president of FIG is really nice as well. He gave FIG pins to a lot of people but I wasnāt there at that day :(. I donāt know if you all know, but at the Olympic games, world cups, pan American games and all these competitions people are crazy for pins! My favourite ones are a USA gymnastics one, a french gymnastics one and the one that I love the most is a russian gymnastics one! Not only is my favorite team, but also is the only one that I didnāt have to ask. A member of the russian federation came to me and asked me if I was collecting pins and just gave me! I was so happy! And at that same day Aliya won goldā¦
Ā Ā At the end of the Olympics, I gained a lot of pins that Iāll keep forever. Plus, I gained experiences, memories and friendships that Iāll never forget. It was one of the best experiences of my life (if not the best) and I donāt regret anything! Iām already saving money for Tokyo and if you have the chance to go there, just do it! Save money, apply to go there and if you still have money left buy a cellphone with a good camera haha, you wonāt regret it :)Ā
Thatās my favourite position, these seats are the gymnasts ones
Ok, that picture is bad
Ā This one looks bizarre
Ā I wish I was photogenic
Ā I wish I was photogenic [2]

I look like a potato
Ā This one is not that bad...
Neither this one, because it wasnāt taken with my phone lol
They were chanting BRAZIL BRAZIL! as Sam Mikulak was still very much in the middle of his routineā¦
Ā I dont think thats a problem (to chant ābrazilā)... They were happy and excited for their country. Its not like they were chanting FALL FALL! Or something like that. Booing is terrible, but cheering for their country... I dont think so. We must remember that different cultures have different behaviours and brazilians are loud lol
