Typing XG

XG members: Harvey, Hinata, Juria, Jurin, Chisa, Cocona, Maya

Jurin was the hardest to type, but I think she's clearly a yang type. She expresses vertical basically, with a long uninterrupted silhouette. There's something modelesque about her. She reminds me a bit of Yves (5'5 Dramatic) I think she's D, if not that, then FN.

Chisa is the definition of a gamine, I mean she looks just like Betty Boop in the bttm left picture haha. The short hair really elevates her look too. I think SG over FG, I see more yin/lightness/not too prominent bone structure.

Hinata is also definitely gamine. I think FG fits her best because she has the squared body type, and only gains weight below the waist which is common in yang types. Her body type (specifically in bttm right pic) reminds me a lot of Jennie, also FG.

Harvey definitely gives me Soft Natural. Not much to say, she embodies SN. FN is probably possible, but I think she's 'soft' over vertical.

I think Juria is a pure Romantic. She has the feeling of softness and lightness: sloped shoulders, soft waist line, her facial features remind me of other Rs/Trs I have typed. Even her styling is a lot softer than the other members, a yin-friendly kind of experimentation.

If Maya isn't Soft Natural I would... probably delete this blog. She really fits the bombshell/y2k inspired style of SN.

I think Cocona is a TR, natural delicacy/softness especially in their facial features, but can take from gamine recs in a way that complements their balance or even disrupts it.

XG is definitely more of a yin group, with 1 R, 1 TR, 1 SG, 1 FG, 2 SN, 1 D.

What do you think about kard especially somin ?

I'll start from easiest/most obvious.

Jiwoo is definitely a SN, and she’s always dressed on point: long voluminous hair, ruffled details, openness around the collar. She’s a great reference for SN ish looks that are a bit more edgy or gothic.

BM is pretty much the ultimate no-brainer male FN. Head to toe, he’s clearly vertical + frame. 

J.Seph required a bit more consideration than the previous members. I have considered classic family before, but looking more closely I think he’s pure yin, R. He has rather pretty features, I think he’s well complemented with soft wavy hair/long hair. He also has a sturdy look that seems common in R men, but the rounded shoulder shape indicates yin.

I used to be team TR for Somin. This was also the opinion I saw from other people. I’ll say this, her body type reminds me of Christina Aguilera, interestingly, the majority seemed to think she was TR despite not being typed. And then David Kibbe (who created the system) said she was definitely not TR… Looking closer, Somin is small boned and petite, but not curvy in the way of a TR. I actually don’t see curve at all. She looks more rectangular, but with delicate facial features. Now.... I think FG is best for her (and probably Xtina too?) All the signs are pointing there. She looks amazing with short hair. She also has more of an FG pear shape than a TR who tends to gain weight evenly on the body. Rectangular torso with pear weight distribution is pretty common for FG. She also seems to have a more spunky vibe than TR. For TR energy, think Gain (ie Paradise Lost) or Chungha (ie Snapping)

What do you think about Itzy members kibbe ID's?

Actually, I've been slowly going through a lot of 4th and 5th gen ggs to type each of the members, and one of those is ITZY. So I'll share what I found out.

The members were pretty difficult to type, but I focused on the image that ITZY projects, which is very chic, model-type, natural. All the members have similar body types, with long elegant lines and strong frames, so it shouldn't be surprising that they're all (spoiler) in the N family!

Yeji is 170cm so she's vertical dominant. I've considered D and FN, I don't see the yin for an SD. Facially and body wise... I can see the argument for D, she has that angular/striking/pinched look that made me think D initially, but considering her style, her effortless coolness and how at home she looks in oversize/slightly messy garments, I'm going with Flamboyant Natural. I do think she has width, strength to her frame (bttm left image).

Lia was hard to type. She's ~5'4/5'5 so she could be any type basically. I quickly noticed that she seems yang dominant. I considered D, FG, DC, SN, FN... looking logically, Flamboyant Natural feels correct. She looks taller than her height in my opinion, not in the moderate way of a DC or even SN... she has long legs/arms and slightly broad shoulders, and she just seems to have a modellesque FN build. I also don't get D energy from her. D is a pretty rare type, it has a specific vibe to it, I think she's more free spirit/laid back FN. SN is also maybeee possible but I think FN is #1.

Ryujin is the only member I had no trouble typing. From debut, she's always had the Soft Natural vibe. She's average height, overall moderate looking with width in her torso and hips. She rocks slightly messy hair, whether short or long, and she just breathes SN. The top left outfit is, to me, perfect SN, not tooo much, overall just a bit of openness looks perfect. I think some people would see her hourglass shape and think she looks delicate, but SN has a huge variety.

Chaeryeong (~5'6) is pretty clearly N fam. She's obviously frame dominant, she has an inverted triangle shape with broad shoulders. She looks great in relaxed outfits and long ruffled hair and has the approachable cool vibe. I think SN or FN would make sense, but I'm currently team Soft Natural. I don't see a lot of vertical, I think she has softness. I prefer her in slightly ruffled/soft silhouettes vs FN full yang. See bttm left, I think the elements of softness with a heavier fabric is just right.

Just like Yeji, with Yuna I was caught between D and FN. She's definitely vertical at 5'8 and has a lean, dry body type, that said, I think Flamboyant Natural is pretty obviously the right choice. Note the bttm right pic, her chest/shoulder shape specifically reads as FN. I also don't get D from her at all, like the other members she has more of a fresh fun FN style.

I've never typed a group where all the members are in the same family. Well, SN and FN are the 2 most common types so it makes sense. I think ITZY works well as a team because their essences complement each other. They all fit the young chic / cool girl sort of vibe, they all have a kinda model look. Ryujin and Chaer are at the taller end of SN, so they can pull off a lot of FN-type looks and fit in with the FNs.

I think this picture is cool, it shows FN vs SN. They're all close in height, overall look similar, but the SNs have a bit of a 'fleshy' appearance while the FNs look elongated/dry. Chaer compared to Yuna especially. (left to right, FN, FN, SN, SN, FN)

Typing XLOV

(Hyun, Rui, Wumuti, Haru)

Note: XLOV is known as a boy group but they have a genderless concept. I'll type them in the way I see fit, somewhere between the normal female and male typing.

Wumuti

With Wumuti, I immediately thought yang. Their facial features scream angular yang to me. Overall they give a sense of polish and chicness, I had considered both SD and FN because I think they look great in large-scale clothes, but I think they shine most in neat/luxury/ornate styles (SD) over deconstructed styles. So, Soft Dramatic.

Rui

Rui was hard to type! I see yin most of all, but I also see yang/frame. I think you could make a case for R, TR, SN, or FN (I know, all are very different haha) depending on what styles you're typing them for, because 'female' kibbe and 'male' kibbe recommends different clothing styles. I'm most drawn to SN for Rui (mostly instinct) but that could be subject to change.

Hyun

I know Hyun is 6'1 but they don't look elongated (the first pic, of the full group, shows this nicely). In fact they remind me of a lot of shorter yin idols, narrow body frame with soft looking skin (bones don't really stand out) and delicate looking face. I think Hyun is a Theatrical Romantic! There's that sense of flamboyant yin, luxuriousness, just a bit different from SD.

Haru

Clearly Soft Gamine, their style represents spitfire chic so well. Petiteness/compactness with obvious yin. Their shoulders are a good indication, they look small but bony, not softly rounded/sloped.

What do you think about tyla ? TR or SG or FG

Tyla is a Theatrical romantic in my opinion. I'll start by saying I don't think a SG/FG would have this sort of image/aesthetic, it's very TR, and it suits her perfectly. She looks great in gowns, embellishments, long hair, overall I don't see the animated, playful gamine vibe, more of the alluring/luxurious TR vibe.

Look at the curve of her shoulders, (last pic) to me it's the epitome of a yin/TR type of shoulder line: small and rounded. Her facial features also seem pure yin without the juxtaposition of a gamine. I think if she had actual yang juxtaposition it would jump out in some way but she just seems YIN with a bit of sharpness. It's a fine line between SG and TR, but for me people like Tyla show there are noticeable differences! When she's styled for a more gamine look, it just feels off:

Female idols who do NOT have ingenue essence...

We know youthfulness and girlishness is very important in kpop aesthetics. Irene, Tzuyu, Suzy, Wonyoung, most kpop beauties have strong Ingenue essence. But not all female idols look their best with this sort of styling.

Most of these idols have very much distanced themselves from the concepts of 'purity' and innocence in k-pop as they've grown up. You can see in the above examples that this styling would suit an idol with an ingenue image, but these girls emphatically don't have that image!

CL: theatrical romantic | kitchener essence dramatic-romantic

CL has her own aesthetic that makes her very unique. Her makeup and hairstyles emphasize her fierce, cat-like looks. Given her presence and style as an idol, it simply wouldn't make sense for her to be ingenue.

Sunmi: soft dramatic | kitchener essence romantic-ethereal

Sunmi does the knockout/bombshell look very well. She has soft - looking facial features, but she looks best with a slightly sultry aesthetic, and a red lip... a more 'womanly' deep lipstick and blowout is a good indicator of whether one suits ingenue or not.

Luna: flamboyant gamine | kitchener essence gamine-ethereal

Luna perfectly shows how gamine and ingenue are not the same. She has a very unique look but seems both mature and youthful- looking. She does chic gender-bending looks well, but she's not suited to 'girly' ingenue styles in the same way.

Krystal: dramatic classic | kitchener essence classic-dramatic

Krystal has a very specific vibe that makes her a great DC inspiration. She has a rather regal 'ice princess' look to her, closer to a high fashion model than your stereotypical idea of a kpop idol. She has a longer midface, which is something you might see in the other examples here. A lengthened face tends to read as older and stronger.

Yuri: likely dramatic classic | kitchener essence romantic-classic

SNSD concepts were pretty ingenue from the get-go, but in my opinion Yuri shines more in ladylike concepts or in sleek, badass, girl-crush looks. She seems glamorous, yet classic, kind of similar to both Sunmi and Krystal.

Chaeyoung: likely soft natural | kitchener essence gamine-natural

Chaeyoung is short and she has some cute facial features, but like CL, she just seems more cat-like and sort of edgy, she really suits carefree tomboyish looks. She has a prominent jaw and shoulders, with sleek eyes, which makes her a little less neotenous.

Hwasa: likely soft natural | kitchener essence romantic-dramatic-natural

Hwasa has broken a lot of norms when it comes to being an idol. Her style is usually offbeat, with statement pieces or patterns, and she does a more relaxed look equally well. She definitely has a smoky, sultry vibe when performing, and again, her signature look is a bold red lip.

Hyeju: soft natural | kitchener essence dramatic-natural

Hyeju has a characteristic 'pouty' look to her that sets her apart. She is relatively young-looking, but she doesn't look at home in ingenue style. She looks great in bold looks that are more mature and a bit edgy.

There are other idols who, in my opinion, don't have ingenue essence, but can still pull off ingenue looks decently well, and some examples are Momo, Mina, Seulgi, Jisoo and Soyeon.

Hello, could you type or analyze Heeseung? He's a former member of Enhypen and now a soloist. I've seen him typed as a dramatic and soft dramatic on reddit, but the kpop kibbe community has been banned. Also, he's confirmed to be 183 cm. Thank you for making this blog.

Buckle up for the ride! I promise I will get to Heeseung, but I actually wanted to talk about male Dramatics.

A refresher: Kibbe for men doesn't have a lot of guidance/outlines so a lot of it can be vibes-based. There are apparently no height cutoffs for men, because some of the verified pure D men are 5'8-5'10. However, they still give an impression of pure Dramatic, and this is important.

K-pop seems to prefer yin men in general, because they are better at pulling off soft, androgynous, princely styles, while yang dominant men would seem harsh or awkward in these concepts. The exception is the era of 'beastly idols' in the 1st / 2nd gen, the most famous being 2PM, but also Shinhwa, g.o.d, TVXQ and Big Bang could qualify, Monsta X for a 3rd gen equivalent. In general these groups have more yang members or an even balance, but they're the minority.

On the male side of kibbe typing, men begin with a base that is more sharp/hard lines, so you have to add extra angularity onto that. This is why women are likelier to be yang-dominant because they start with yin, so yang traits will generally stand out more as needing accommodation, and the reverse is true for men. I only have 3 male idols typed as D.

Zuho (SF9) is the perfect example of pure D. Everything about him just screams Dramatic, he's tall and elongated, his face is all yang, when he deviates from extreme sharpness it's not that he looks bad, he just appears 'muted' or 'softened'.

T.O.P is a good example of someone who radiates Dramatic, through his facial features and overall dryness in his body. His styling plays to his sharp yang with extreme silhouettes.

Changmin (TVXQ) kind of like T.O.P, he has a specific look (facially) that feels 'severe', very yang. Even the suit in the picture is not yang enough for him.

All of the guys above give a first impression of being intimidating, or at least, mature, regal, very much 'Dramatic'. They all have distinctive facial features, because they are at 1 extreme, of 'pure yang'.

Here are some pictures of Heeseung. I agree that he has some yang presence, but I see softness too. Look at the shape of his shoulders. And his face isn't as sharp, it looks a bit more moderate.

Compare him to a young T.O.P, they look kind of alike, both have a long face shape, but the feeling is different.

An even more obvious example, Heeseung compared to a young Changmin (around 18 years old). In other words. Soft Dramatic, vs pure Dramatic.

Actually, I think there are different possibilities for him but my top one right now is SD. I could even see N family or C family. Or even TR. I think that when he finds his style as an artist it'll be easier to figure out where he stands. Also his body could change somewhat in his twenties.

Typing LOONA (all members)

Haseul : Romantic

I have previously considered TR and SG for Haseul, but neither felt perfect. She’s overall very yin; you can see in her facial features. Which is why I believe she’s pure R! She gives such a dreamy, pretty Romantic vibe more so than a TR/Gamine vibe.

Jinsoul : Soft Dramatic

Something about Jinsoul is just... vibrant and noticeable, very SD energy. She always looks good with detailed, elevated looks. No width really, so not a curvy FN, and you can see in the top right pic how elongation manifests in someone who isn't super tall--perfectly illustrating her combination of vertical (D) + rounded undercurrent.

Kim Lip : Flamboyant Gamine

I think Kim Lip has pretty obvious contrast. She obviously looks petite and has the common FG body type which is mostly only gaining weight below the hip line. She does structure well.

HeeJin : Flamboyant Gamine

I think HeeJin perfectly illustrates how you can have squared shoulders without being N family. Her body is overall petite, with the slightly boxy shape that's common in FGs; as opposed to SN who has width in the upper body, she only has broad shoulders but her ribcage/stomach/hip area seems straight and not projected. A combination of yang straightness and petite.

Choerry : Soft Natural

Choerry epitomizes the carefree look and vibe of an SN. She has a lot of varied looks--she's a moderate-looking SN who can wear a lot of things as long as her openness is honored (outfits that aren't constricted/have some structure). She looks great in wavy hair. You can see her N-family width in the top left photo in the upper chest area.

HyunJin : Soft Natural

HyunJin is another example of an SN who looks rather yin/'soft' at first glance but shows the variance in this type. She sort of reminds me of Yeri, an Ingenue-essence SN who might be mistyped as SG or R family, but I think she has width. She can handle slightly heavier/bunchier fabrics and looks good with an open neck. She lacks the double curve of R family (bottom right , straight-ish waist).

ViVi : Flamboyant Gamine/Gamine

Everything about ViVi, head to toe, is Gamine family! She perfectly embodies G-fam, face and body, and I honestly think that if the old system was still in use she would be a pure Gamine. I would put her in FG only because she has the weight gain pattern of FG, where only the lower body gains weight. This is common in yang types.

YeoJin : Soft Gamine

YeoJin has a rather unmistakable Gamine energy to me, especially in her face. She has the doll-like, otherworldly, timeless feel--the spitfire chic essence--and although I think she's clearly yin dominant, she can handle ensembles that are a bit more structured and/or chaotic.

Go Won : Soft Gamine

Go Won is another obvious SG. She has clear yin and compactness, with the slightly square-shaped body type that's common in Gamines. She embodies a lot of different parts of SG.

HyeJu : Soft Natural

I think HyeJu has come into her own as a great example of an SN. Her personal aesthetic gives very cool girl, down to earth SN--she looks great with slightly oversize materials (slightly: SN can be overwhelmed if it's too much) and with windswept hair and natural makeup.

Yves : Dramatic

Yves is 5'5 but she has clear elongation. Top right photo shows how pure elongation (D) manifests from the chest to the knees--lots of straight interrupted lines. I also think she lacks width. Sometimes I would say that the line for D/FN is blurry so it can be a matter of essence, but I think Yves is the opposite. Even though she tends towards a more cool, breezy FN aesthetic, I think the D-ness in her is so obvious that I stand by it 100%.

Chuu : Soft Natural

I can see how Chuu might be typed as SG, but I personally see her as a clear SN. Her body type has always given more athletic + a bit of curves (SN) as opposed to petite. I think her having a baby face can trip people up, but I think she dresses well for SN and in particular, looks great with fluffy hair and comfy outfits with draped fabric.

Overall, LOONA is a yin dominated group, with 1 pure-R, 3 SG, 4 SN, 1 SD, 3 FG, and 1 D.

Yujin

I have considered FG for Yujin because she has a baby face. I always noticed the elongation and sharp yang in her body. But looking closer, I don’t see gamine-ness, in fact, I think she’s a Dramatic. Her styling and vibe sort of reflects this. Head to toe, she’s sharp and elongated, and looks great in slicked ponytails and stuff fabrics.

Xiaoting

The consensus for Xiaoting has always been Flamboyant Natural, and I agree! Not much to say other than that she embodies FN, particularly the new description for it 'Nonchalant Showstopper'.

Chaehyun

I have long believed in Romantic for Chaehyun, and… after further analysis… I was right! She is pure softness, pure yin. And her style is so on point with respect to pure R recommendations. To me she epitomizes R energy for the current gen of idols.

Dayeon

Dayeon looks rather dainty with delicate facial features. She has a more curvy build (not super visible in these pictures but her waist line appears in curves not rectangular). I think Theatrical Romantic is most ideal for her. She looks great with long hair, ornate detailing, ruffling. She’s a good example of someone who must accommodate for narrow (TR) not petite (SG) in a Kibbe sense.

Hikaru

I think there is a clear yang presence in Hilary’s body type. She looks naturally athletic. I don’t see Kibbe petite in her (she’s obviously short, but looking at her width is more apparent). Soft Natural is my choice. I also think her facial features are very SN and her personal style falls into the free, boho, slightly tomboy vibe of a natural.

Bahiyyih

Flamboyant Natural. Bahiyyih’s body type reminds me a bit of Lisa from Blackpink. Very long limbs, overall looks super tall. I like her in slightly relaxed, laid-back outfits and long voluminous hair.

Mashiro

She was quite difficult for me to pin down. I ended up looking at all the outfits that, to me, are most flattering on her, and from there I concluded: Soft Natural. Specifically a gaminish SN. She obviously looks ingenue and it could be argued, shows juxtaposition, but I don’t see that particular gamine flavour. I like her in unfussy, but cute outfits, with a bit of volume/openness.

Youngeun

Another former member who was an enigma to me at first. Head to toe, I would say she screams yang: facial features, bone structure, all very linear. She looks shockingly tall despite being 5’2! Frankly, she can emphasize vertical and wear things that I don't think a short type would look great in. I considered FN, SN, DC, FG, D... I think DC is plausible, but I genuinely cannot find pictures of her in C-family styling so I'm not really sure, and besides, I don't get that vibe from her. I don't get a gamine vibe either... call me crazy but FN followed by D. mayyyybe a leggy/unconventional SN.

Yeseo

Yeseo has a very similar body type to Dayeon. Overall, roundness yet narrow. And her facial features are very yin, princess-like, dreamy. She's still young so I'm not 100% on her, but I would say Theatrical Romantic.

Kep1er's current line up, interestingly, has no gamines or classics. There's 1 D, 2 FN, 1 SN, 1 TR and 1 R.

Okay, I'll start with my thoughts on the remaining ZB1 members:

Sung Hanbin

Initially, I was so sure Hanbin would be C family. But surprisingly... he seems much more romantic-family. His personal style involves a lot of soft drapey fabrics, delicate detailing, etc, and his face is quite delicate looking. Top-left image shows the shape of his shoulders--the sloped shape is indicative of yin. His vibe is very TR so right now, that's what I agree with!

Kim Jiwoong

Jiwoong has a very particular look/style. I think he's SD. I don't really know how to describe it other than that he seems to embody SD--the angularity/sharpness of D family with the alluring aspects of a yin undercurrent. I considered DC--I think he's sharp yang--but it doesn't feel as much 'him'.

Seok Matthew

Matthew is pretty clearly a yin dominant type. Short vertical, soft facial features... R, TR and SG are really the only options. I like TR for him because he has that very pretty, princely look, and he can handle some sharpness/flamboyance that a pure R would be overwhelmed by. I personally prefer him in more R family styles than G family. But SG is possible too.

Kim Taerae

Taerae is difficult to type. I think he's some type of gamin (bottom right pic shows contrast, soft facial features vs compact straight body lines) but I wouldn't rule out TR. Right now I think SG is my first pick followed by FG.

Park Gunwook

His frame dominance + vertical jumps out at me immediately. FN, I think he's well-styled to openness and vertical.

Zhang Hao

Obvious FG is obvious. There's no other type I see for him; he embodies FG well.

Yoo Seungeon

He's one I'm unsure of. Right now I think FG, he has gaminish facial features and has the compact rectangular upper body + long legs which seems common in G men.

Ricky

Ricky has a very unique look to him. I don't think his vertical is extremely tall, but I still think SD honours him most. He can pull off incredibly stiff/structured garments, being in D-fam, but he's also well complemented by softness, like draping and longer wavy hair (yin undercurrent). Ergo, my top pick is SD.

Kim Gyuvin

Gyuvin is sort of a Kibbe enigma. I don't know that he sits perfectly in any type. That may sound odd, but he's clearly very elongated, and at the same time, he has the softest most youthful facial features of the group. I think he's juxtaposed + vertical, which would make him FG, but he suits a lot of D-fam styles that FG wouldn't work with. I think FG or D is possible, but vibes-wise he's more at home in FG.

Han Yujin

Yujin is only 19 so his look may change a bit more, so this isn't definitive, but I think he has one of the most classic faces/bodies of any 5th gen male idol. I can't see him as anything other than SC/DC at this point.

Thank you! NCT Dream has a particular aesthetic that is well suited to most of the members. Overall there’s more gamins and romantics.

Call me crazy but he’s a classic. Not sure if SC or DC. I don't see G-family juxtaposition, he just has a youthful looking face, and he doesn't seem R/N/D fam.

He seems frame dominant to me. Long legs and broad upper body. I honestly think FN would be closer than SN, I’d even consider D (there are verified D/FN men who are not that tall!) he just seems very yang and dry boned. For now I’d say N.

I thought SG before, but I don’t  think he needs petite accommodation. He seems very R. My second guess would be TR. He dresses well for R-family, light/airy clothes, it gives him that 'wow factor'.

Soft Classic. Jaemin's face can look very delicate, but he’s a lot more moderate than you’d think. The quintessential SC is Bing Crosby, and though they don’t look alike, I think Jaemin fits into that archetype well. He looks good in that put-together, slightly posh style.

Romantic. He’s been compared to young Leonardo DiCaprio, and it’s the same for them both. Roundness! He dresses well for his type. Top right and bttm left show just how soft/'yin' he is--face, neck, arms, etc.

Flamboyant Gamin. His face is very gaminish and he has a compact upper body, but with elongation (vertical + petite)—he belongs in gamin outfits. Again, for men there is not a height limit for the R/G family.

Jiwoo- Flamboyant Natural

Jiwoo is a slightly taller than average FN, so she can wear a lot of styles. Her short hair is interesting because it contrasts with the common FN recommendations; I find her longer hair (bttm right) is perfect, it makes her glow.

Carmen- Flamboyant Gamine

Carmen is a great example of how petite + vertical, which may seem opposite, coexist in FG. She has a lot of contrast--long arms and legs with a small upper body, sharp jaw with very large eyes and doll features. She's around 5'5-5'6 but looks a bit shorter than that.

Yuha- Soft Classic

Yuha is an archetypical classic... head to toe, she's a perfect example of a SC (moderate + hints of roundness/yin).

Stella- Flamboyant Natural

Stella definitely has that cool girl FN vibe. She looks great with long, full, messy hair, and she has a lot of elongation (long limbs/overall elongated) with a strong frame. She looks taller than her height (5'6).

Leesol- Flamboyant Natural

There's something very unique about Leesol's energy. Typing her was rather difficult, I wasn't really sure initially besides her being yang-dominant. I think she's always well dressed to her particular yin-yang blend. To me, she's an FN (frame dominant, can pull off full/heavy pieces) but D would be worth considering.

Sui- Flamboyant Natural

Sui definitely has vertical. She looks sort of 'rounded' which made me think SD initially, but I think she's a narrow FN. Because FN is N-dominant, they can look curvy/rounded (mainly because naturals have less sharp/linear bone structure compared to D fam).

Jiyu- Soft Gamine

I don't think there is another idol (at leas 5th gen idol) who fits soft gamine as well as Jiyu. Her styling is also perfect for SG recommendations.

Haum- Theatrical Romantic

This is my hottest take. Haum looks... soft to me. Her face feels very TR-esque, and overall, she epitomizes yin + narrowness. Her style also feels yin/R family influenced, lots of soft fabrics, long princess-like hair, very dreamy overall. I could even see R for her. Less likely: SD.

I was stumped for Jin. I initially had him as SC, but, look at his face and there’s no family he could be in besides R fam. His face is soooo yin, there's virtually zero sharpness, and he looks right at home in slightly flouncy, princely outfits, and overly fitted/stiff suits look off on him. He has a broad upper body, but… a lot of men do, including R and TR men. If you look at him in pictures, he seems shorter than he is. Although if not TR, I could see SD, because I think he needs a bit of sharpness.

Suga

Not much to say, Suga is definitely G-fam. He has a youthful, androgynous look and fits right at home with the verified SG men. Although he’s definitely on the soft side. I thought R or TR for him, but I can’t see him in that family. Gamin just suits him so well.

J-Hope is perhaps the most obvious male FG idol, and he has awesome eclectic style that takes full advantage of his type. One thing about him is that he looks young, but not androgynous exactly… he has a masculine face shape so when he tries to go for a very soft flower boy look it seems awkward, and he benefits from more of a yang base with splashes of yin. He carries a lot of oversized or heavy fabrics pretty well, more so than an SG, but it needs to be balanced/cropped.

RM is another enigma for me, but I genuinely think FG is just right for him. He feels very juxtaposed and not ‘big boned’ like a N/D fam. His face shape reminds me of Frank Sinatra who is a verified FG. He just has a youthfulness and expressiveness to him, and it works well with his down-to-earth natural essence.

Another dead ringer, Jimin suits the TR archetype so well. He has an enchanting prince like quality and soft facial features, but with some strength (for example, in his jaw shape). He reminds me of Taemin, another likely TR.

Tae is the hardest to type. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was R, G, C fam, or even SD… but as I searched for his best outfits, I found he suits TR looks so well, there's just no other type he could be. He looks great with curled hair and soft/silky outfits, but needs a bit of yang. There's something flamboyant about him. He can pull off other styles that you wouldn't expect from a TR, but, that's mainly because... he's a nice looking guy, lol, so he looks good in a lot of things! But TR honors him most of all.

Jungkook

Jungkook has always seemed very young and expressive looking, even compared to the other members. He’s so SG to me. Closer to pure G than Suga. I can’t describe it outside of the fact that he looks ‘soft’. Obviously when he’s muscular he seems sturdy, but that doesn’t negate his natural shape which is much more G. I could honestly see TR as second.

That's it! BTS as a whole is definitely a yin-dominant group, they have the flowery pretty boy look of a lot of 3rd gen boy groups. Intriguingly the whole rap line is gamines and they have 3 TRs (!!!)

Fashion spotlight: Of all the R- or TR-idols, I think Dahyun dresses consistently for softness. With R/TR the fabric is so important: fabrics that are soft, glossy and/or drapey to the touch. Soft and small details are also good additions.

Gamines

For gamines, it's about tightly cropped outfits with some variation/something to break up the vertical. There are a lot of idols who are great for FG inspo: Jennie (the posh/polished FG), Soyeon (the experimental but girly FG), Seulgi (the tomboyish FG). For SGs, Taeyeon has a lot of good casual-wear that complements her lines. Sieun is another SG with some beautiful airport ensembles.

Classics

Classics should have balance; no matter what kind of outfit they wear, there should be a sense of symmetry and equal weight distribution. Jungsis are the queens of classic airport fashion that is crisp and elegant but not boring.

Naturals

Naturals tend to be complemented with openness and slightly flowy, yet structured fabrics. Of course SNs need a bit more softness while FNs need a bit more crispness. There are so many N idols that rock casual wear: for posh looks, Red Velvet's Joy (FN) and Yeri (SN). For softer SN looks, Yuqi from Idle. For edgier looks, aespa's Ningning (SN) and Blackpink's Lisa (FN).

Dramatics

No one does modern and expressive like the D family. For both SD and D, they are honored with crisp, firm fabrics and a continuous long silhouette. Ds do a linear androgynous look very well, SDs can handle more flounce/shaping. Wonyoung is great style inspo for both Ds and SDs, she has lots of glam looks. Others are Victoria (D) for modernist style, and Tzuyu (SD) for a casual take on SD.

tripleS just barely beat NewJeans in my poll -- don't worry, I'll go through each of these groups, but tripleS will be first. I'll look at the types of the oldest members (Yooyeon to Sullin) and give my thoughts on the other members.

Romantic (Shion)

Shion shows how roundness expresses itself in Rs. She has a light, dreamy, floaty feel to her. She has the natural double curve of Rs.

Theatrical Romantic (Yooyeon)

Yooyeon has delicate bone structure with trim curves. Shorter limbs as well, short vertical. She looks very yin overall.

Soft Gamine (Seoyeon)

Seoyeon is a definite SG. Soft facial features, overall compact and trim body with straight lines as opposed to the curves of R fam.

Flamboyant Gamine (Jiyeon, Kotone)

Both seem compact but have obvious elongation and/or pointy yang. The build is slightly more rectangular than SG, but Jiyeon and Kotone both have doll-like faces.

I think Sohyun and Kaede both have very moderate classic looking faces. Both look moderate overall. I think Kaede shows DC yang in her facial features and looks great in straight hair/straight details. Sohyun's style can be more natural-ish, but I think she's still DC.

Soft natural (Mayu, Nakyoung, Dahyun)

Mayu is a good example of a gaminish SN, she clearly benefits from openness and has blunted bone structure but still appears petite. Yunkyoung is a good example of an SN, she has that fresh sensual energy to a T. For Dahyun, I considered FG, but I think she looks gorgeous and most herself in natural-typical styles.

Flamboyant natural (Nien, Jiwoo, Lynn, Sullin)

Nien is the clearest FN example... ever! Jiwoo is a good example of an FN that looks moderate and not too frame-dominant, so she can get away with a lot of different silhouettes. Lynn and Sullin are both frame-dominant with broad shoulders, a modellesque FN body type.

Soft dramatic (Xinyu, Yubin, Chaeyeon)

I think Yubin and Chaeyeon are rather obvious examples of SD--they both have that eye-catching energy to them. Xinyu seems to have a strong frame, but I think she perfectly matches the essence of SD and I think her shoulders while broad don't throw off her trim elegance.

Hot takes

Here are some updated typings that I want to talk about in depth. Some are a bit tentative, but this is the direction I'm going in for these respective idols.

Rosé - Flamboyant natural I have had trouble figuring out Rosé's type. I initially thought DC, or even D, knowing she's 5'6. I think the most obvious answer is: she's FN! Her vibe has never been that untouchable regality of SD/D, she has a down-to-earth vibe, and I think she gets 'lost' in overly stiff formal outfits. She's a mid-height FN who can pull off a lot of pieces.

Nancy - Soft classic Finally, another SC! It seems so obvious in retrospect, but for Nancy I had considered TR, SG, and SN. Her face in particular feels so classic. I think she looks great with simple, classical styling.

IU - Soft gamine Like Nancy I knew IU had yin, but I was confused by he body type and styling. I like her in R/TR type outfits but I think she's SG through and through. Her vibe feels cute and twee, even her facial features seem gaminish. She does a cute-spitfire look so well.

Gaeul - Dramatic This one might not be such a hot take, but Gaeul (5'5, could technically be anything) is, to me, D. She seems approachable, but I feel like her face naturally has a slightly ice-queen vibe?

Cheng Xiao - Theatrical romantic For Cheng Xiao, I had thought SD, but then considered SN. Again, sometimes the most obvious answer is it: she's a medium-height TR. She looks trim, with short limbs, delicacy, and softness, and she looks gorgeous in ornate outfits. Vs a true SD, I think dainty details are better for her as opposed to weighty fabric or big ruffles (the left most pic would be too strong if not for the airy tulle fabric)

Yoona - Flamboyant natural This is probably my hottest take yet, but SD never felt right for me. Yoona is a conventional hourglass and her red carpet looks often have a lot of glamor, but she doesn't give SD energy. She's always had the image of a clean/friendly girl next door, not a bombshell/diva. Look at her airport styling or her magazine shoots. I think FN suits her best!
