Pia Cayetano (b. 1966) is a Filipino lawyer and politician, the youngest woman to be elected as a Senator in the history of the country. She was twice elected to the Senate, in 2004 and in 2010. Additionally, she is a champion of women’s and children’s rights.
She graduated with two degrees from the University of Philippines, one in Economics and one in Law. Some of the laws she has pushed for in Senate are the ‘Magna Carta of Women’, aimed at ending all types of gender discrimination, the Expanded Breastfeeding Act, and the Reproductive Health Act. She is the founder of three different organizations which help children with disabilities, the underprivileged, and women respectively.
