I FINDIHED WATCHING ALTERED ECHOS

I really loved it

I’ve seen a lot of people dislike it and write it off but I honestly loved it. I think it does a great job at showing how six’s past has affected her. I think a lot of people wanted LNAE to be LN2 but from six’s perspective but I don’t think that really works. LN2 is not strictly from mono’s perspective even if it follows him, it lets you come to your own conclusions about the relationship between the children.

Also realistically I don’t want to play two hours of six picking her nose in the hunter’s cabin and hospital while they wait for mono. I also think a lot of people wanted to see six’s perspective because of the belief that she’s being mistreated/clung onto by mono which I don’t really think is true. Mervik described LN2 as both six and mono not being sure about each other, and if you look throughout the game mono isn’t very clingy, he shows no signs of distress when separated from six initially, where as six repeatedly calls out for him. I think she’s afraid of being left behind because early on, she doesn’t know if she can trust him to come back.

I think they’re two kids trying to work together in a world that hates them, and ultimately what has happened to them ends up tearing their friendship apart from the inside. A huge theme in LNAE is self destruction. The columns of memories and items related to six’s past drown in the dark shadow which is referred to as oblivion in the game files. Oblivion when it comes to the mind can refer to supression and erasure of memories. Six’s model also shows signs of self harm on the forearms; they’re covered in her own bite marks. LNAE further compiles this and I think it adds a lot to her character for those who are willing to give it a chance.

She feels this need to escape, to find sources of escape from her pain, and she never stops running. Her dropping mono is something that both stems the music box- her ultimately unhealthy source of escapism- being destroyed, but also from her own issues. I think six dropping mono is honestly more of a self destructive act than one of retribution, hence why shadow six is dropped- she’s harming herself in an attempt to run away, especially because she no longer has her music box to soothe her.

I definitely enjoyed the story a lot! Though I felt like the gameplay wasn't that good tbh- Can't really see the monsters chasing you anymore without turning around when you're supposed to be looking to wear you're fleeing at. And the only LN2 enemies that made an appearance was the Thin Man and the Teacher, the rest being two new enemies that honestly don't suit the vibe.

ALSO, WHY ISN'T THE HUNTER THERE?! HE LITTERLY KIDNAPPED SIX! I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING HIM WHEN I SAW HIS TAXIDERMIES IN THE TRAILER, BUT IT WAS JUST THE PHOTOGRAPHER'S LEVEL! COME ON!

I think the naturalist and the conductor are there because they relate to six’s past experiences. The nowhere puts kids into places that are natural continuations of their journey, and in that sense I think both are perfect

I assumed that “Natural continuations” refers to places that thematically fit and reflect what they have experienced, it pulls on their past experiences, even if they don’t entirely remember what it is that happened to them. They don’t have to necessarily be specific, some are more vague than others

I like the conductors design a lot, his animations are fantastic and he feels a lot like a LN1 enemy. I origins;y wasn’t sure about his design but now I really love it

The naturalist design isss… yeah not my favorite. I like his premise and personality but I think that design wise there’s just a lot happening that doesn’t work super well in its execution

Im really curious what your thoughts are of Black people like Kanye West or Ben Carson who openly promote anti Black policies. Like why the hell a Black person would be drawn to conservative politics to further opresses them in the first place even. Well, why would a white woman who knows misogyny and the patriarchy are the reason she is oppressed still support the very men who oppress her, support the very policies that could kill her too, just because they're white? Why would white queer and trans folk who know that homophobia and transphobia are ruining their lives, sell out their siblings of color at each and every opportunity while simultaneously believing they're fighting for everyone's queer and trans rights?

It's proximity to power.

The chance, the opportunity, to be in league with those who are more powerful than you, as if they'll see you as equals once you are there, drives some people from all marginalized groups to sell out their own. The chance to NOT be the one directly under the boot, to be the Token, to be the Exceptional Negro, and prove that Coexistence Is Possible™, all those things could convince someone who is Black that a white supremacist has their best interest at heart. Because you're not "one of those" negroes. You're a Good One. And you deserve to live and thrive because you're Good and that's what you Need to Be. It's buying in to the beliefs that have been forced upon you.
