Matteoâs cheeks turned bright red, he was not good at reciving compliments. âFor someone to think that, they need to know me or notice me at least, and I - Iâm not exactly someone who stands outâ he said shrugging. He didnât really mind that, sometimes it was a privilage. But it could be lonely at times. âBut thank you, Jamie. I appreciate it.â he said smiling at his cousin. âOh yeah right, you also said that the security guy seemed nice, but there werenât sparkles in your eyes when you talked about him.â he joked, knowing that Jamie probably really was impressed with Clara, and he could totally understand that. She had this energy that made her connect with every person she meets like right away. It wasnât something Jamie needed to be embarassed of. âIâm kidding, but I would completely understand if you like her. Sheâs pretty and sheâs nice. Itâs hard not to like her. I would say go for it. â
âLet me give you some wise advice: the people that stand out the most arenât always the people that are the most liked by others,â Jamie told Matteo, acting as if he was older and full of experience, even though they were the same age. However, Jamie still meant what he was saying. He kindly nodded as Matteo thanked him. âSparkles in my eyes? Thatâs not a thing -- youâre making that up,â Jamie said, squinting his eyes at his cousin. Sure, that was the kind of expression he would probably use in one of his poetry pieces, but that didnât mean it was an actual thing people could objectively detect. It didnât seem like Matteo was planning on dropping this any time soon. Jamie then bursted out laughing when he told him just to go for it. âSince when are you the person telling other people to take action in relationships? I thought you were the kind of person that waited around for other people to find you and confess their feelings to you. Kind of like Snow White or Sleeping Beauty or something. I never took you for someone that takes the first step.â Then again, Jamie hadnât seen Matteo in a while. Maybe he didnât know him as well as he thought.
