HARVEST HOME GUARDIAN SPELL
Materials: scissors, twine, grass/twigs/brush/leaves
In parts of Europe, July 10 is the celebration of a legendary being called Knut the Harvester. This reaper-like figure is a representation of the harvest, and parades are held in which giant wicker figures are displayed to ward off evil spirits. After you’ve pulled weeds and overgrowth from your garden, use what you’ve gathered to create a home guardian for the summer harvest season.
Gather up brush, twigs, and weeds and shape them into an approximation of a human figure. Wrap the twine around the legs, arms, and head to keep everything together. As you wrap the twine, say “Watch over my home in the time of reaping, watch over my house in the time of gathering. Watch over my garden in the time of ending, watch over my crops as the earth begins dying.”
Place your guardian figure near the door, or in a place where it can oversee your garden.
