Scarlett offered a sneaky glace before making a comment.

"... Interesting lyrics. Who are you singing that to, hm?"

Cassandra was sat in the floor, working in a new paint. As usual, she had her earphones on and her hands covered in oil. Noticing the redhead girl only by peering with the corner of her eyes, she smiled at her. Due to the music and the fact that she wasn't in prior paying attention to Scarlett, she didn't know what she was asking for. Instead, Cassandra playfully continued her singing, staring at her teasingly, with her cheeks blushing in hot red.

"I kissed a girl and I liked it

The taste of her cherry chapstick

I kissed a girl just to try it

I hope my boyfriend don't mind it

It felt so wrong, it felt so right

Cassandra was lost in her own world again, the strange tiny devices in her ears appeared to be distracting her more than usual. Scarlett tilted her head in confusion, her friend was clearly listening to some music, but she heard nothing. Without that context, what she was 'singing' only felt like in-tune chatting. A chat the only one of them heard, at that.

"No, you did not..." She softly commented in response, but it was obvious that she knew was she was doing, otherwise the blush on her cheeks had no explanation.

Closing the distance, the redhead decided to sit next to Cassandra and see what she was doing. It was clear that she wasn't going to be heard no matter what she said anyway. As she was there, she also took the chance to look at those things on Cassie's ears.

In the canvas, Cassandra was rendering a vineyard in the dawn. A vivid image she used to witness at the morning, which she should sell if someone was interested in such a memory of her happy times. Although, her idea was other. She wasn't sure if she will like it but time will tell until she finds out her favourite kind of peintures. Cassandra now enjoyed the complicated task to guess her likens.

In her ears the song still played noisy. It wasn't as bad as she imagined it would be, the modern songs were good even for her old ear from time to time.

Looking still at Scarlett's face, she indeed didn't hear the sound of her voice but read her lips, smiled and turned her face softly as she was absent still of her words.

But she wasn't.

‘Yes, it is true’ she thought for herself, knowing that her singing wasn't anything but a playful suggestion, more than an actual experience. And what a shame, because she hasn't lacked in opportunities.

When the redhead sat aside her, she looked at her for a moment, confuses at first, but pleased, showing it her a soft smile. Scarlett's company was getting an usual thing, even if they stood one aside the other to talk nonsenses or just enjoy silence. It was good to not be alone.

Using a rag, she cleaned her hands out of paint, taking a pause of her painting process. Grabbing her phone, she shifted the music to something instrumental and more classic for both to enjoy. Picking out one of her earphones, she raised her hand up and near Scarlett's ear. Softly, she pulled the locks of hair appart and placed the earphone carefully. The sound of the classic ballet ‘Swan Lake’ filled both single ears, connecting them with a tune played at the same time. She hasn't asked for it, but Cassandra wanted to share with her the music she liked. And she did it, silently.

Although her attention didn't come back to the painting. Instead, it got fixated by Scarlett's visage. At first, she wanted to check out if she was comfortable with the earphones. But then, her thoughts flew in another direction. She has had Scarlett's face this closer, but, did she ever stopped to look at it? Her beautiful features didn't stop to impress her, but reflection of curiosity and particular interest in her face, while also her confusion was something she found irresistibly cute.

This subtle and spontaneous change, alike others more expressive, flirtatious and explosive, enticed her somehow to approach more. What seemed to be only an idea in her mind, and possibly a whimsical desire, turned into reality as the blonde's lips softly caressed with a warm touch the red lipstick of the woman aside her. Just a soft contact before pulling apart, not in rejection but in surprise. She found herself not knowing the reason of the impulse. Was it the song? Was it her comment about her singing? She wasn't sure, neither regretful. A nervous but chuckle left a smile settled on her lips, while her eyes stared her in the closeness. Her eyes doubted to search hers, while her cheeks resembled the blurred lipstick in her own lips.

Why did she do that?

But more important, why did it felt so right?

Amidst her intrigue, Cassie seemed to catch up on her presence. The moment she shared that tiny device with her, Scarlett's eyes widened and she gasped in surprise. Now she hears the music! Like a child who just saw fireworks for the first time, the redhead's attention was completely lost in this new discovery, not focusing her eyes on anything in particular but rather letting them wander around so she could enjoy the tune playing directly in her ear.

As she rejoiced with the notes and chords of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, she struggled to keep her hands still, giving in to move them over her lap. However, she was so immersed with the music that she could not realize how Cassie's been looking at her the whole time, and how she started getting closer, dangerously closer... the same confused eyes that see something new caught the amber ones right on time when the lips of the two girls connected for a fraction of a second, making Scarlett's already overwhelmed mind fall in complete shock.

As though it was some kind of magnetic polar attraction, as soon as they connected they both pulled away with, perhaps, the same amount of surprise... but maybe Scarlett's was higher. The Ghoul was left in silence again, not only because the earphone had fallen from her ear, but because she found nothing to say.

Nothing seemed to confirm or deny what had just happened, and why it did. Well, except for one thing: Cassandra's flushed face.

Sure, she had sought one kiss before, but now... Now there was no reason to, and now she got one. Why? Her mind only repeated that, why? Her own face warmed up instantly, and she also had to avert her gaze, it felt embarrassing to look back. Why? Was it the fact that she wasn't expecting it, being si soff, unexpected and heart-fluttering, or was it her sudden inability to fight back this time, at least with a word? Perhaps it was something deeper, she wouldn't be able to tell, but the undeniable truth was that something inside her moved, and now both girls shared a flustered expression, on opposite sides.

The tension in between the two, colored their canvas with reddish strokes. A minute of silence and mutual reflection about the touch they shared grew up inside the blond girl to tell something. But what? So many things she could tell. Still, perhaps self-aware of the effect of her own messy feelings, she reminded cautious. If any, she didn't want her to stay away for her abrasive and yet dark feelings.

Still, just to brake the tension, she had to tell something. Even if little or silly, or perhaps more tended to the comprehension. Her eyes analyzed her, empathically reading from outside the obvious hints wrote on her gestures. In her face there was writing a big Why?, a detail that didn't go unnoticed to the girl. She giggled, her torso reclining near the girl again.

"Scarlett" she cooed, softly to call her attention, "There is no tangled reason for this. I just wanted to do it, and if I like you enough... well, it does not have to be something bad, right?" her characteristic laugh filling the air. Although, despite her words, a feeling not clear for the confused violet eyes were well known for the amber ones. But buried in the depths of her mind for caution, it reminded untold; only retained by the fear or rush things and relive her dance over the fields that lifted her as much as it hurt her.

"But now I tasted them, hum~" a hint of her playful nature showed, as she narrowed her eyes to her, perhaps enticed by the sudden display of confusion in the so confident woman "I · would ⋅ like ⋅ to ⋅ taste ⋅ them⋅ again~ fufu~"

Right. Of course, that's what humans usually do. Emotionally-driven humans would follow their heart in order to do what they deem right, and feel fulfilled with their decision. If you feel it's okay, then it is. That kind of human logic never failed to confuse the Ghoul, who had never followed those terms in the first place... Not even as a human herself. It never felt wrong to kiss or do this and that just for the sake of it, and that shouldn't change.

What's more, such logic seemed to be enough for the roles to reverse for a moment, the blonde now feeling bold and kissy while the redhead was left burning inside out, while her friend soothed her with reassuring words... Embarrassing. The whole situation was completely embarrassing.

Unfounded embarrassment was still embarrassing. The Ghoul sought an escape.

Upon Cassandra's eagerness for another kiss, Scarlett finally reacted— she held up a hand, setting distance, a barrier, a wall that went up. She was still unable to look at her, who knew why, the only certainty was that she wanted to run away. And the thought alone not only was embarrassing, but also an act of cowardice on her own. She hated that feeling, she hated all of it. A kiss should be fun and sweet, not confusing like this. Why was that changing!?

The pressure on her chest was too bothersome, the weather too warm, Cassie's voice too sweet, her scent too beautiful. I could destroy her in seconds, Scarlett's mind intruded. Not like she wanted to. But she could. But she shouldn't. But if she did, it would be her fault, for making her feel this way.

Not a chance. Following her heart? Her heart wanted her to run away, the tension was building wrong.

"I should go," said the Ghoul in almost a whisper. Should her voice get higher it was at risk to stutter or break, and she has been through enough humiliation for the day, "...good luck on your painting. Don't forget to clean up," she got up, "I'll see the finished result next time. Okay? Okay..."

With strength gathered from the depths of her mind, she brought back her politeness and looked at those amber eyes for a moment, with the most forced smile.

"Let's meet again some other day."

Her feet moved faster than her words, she was stepping back as she finished talking. Once done, she barely waved and left in a hurry, but not in a straight direction— instead, she surrounded the house. As she was out of sight, she quickly shifted her appearance to that of a crow in order to fly away, before giving any thought, feeling, or impulse the remote chance to stay.

I'm slowly trying to come back to RP but I'm letting you know that most if not all threads that have been sitting in my drafts for over a year will be dropped khkfk. Ofc I wouldn't mind continuing some if the other party wants to, but most admins aren't even active around here anymore (as far as I've seen) so I won't continue them.

The Ghoul wouldn't admit it right there, but that enthusiastic interest from her impulsive counterpart was almost cute.

Never once breaking eye-contact, poised yet amused amethysts admired his explicit enthusiasm, the rest of her expression unchanging. His forward moves made her stand firmer on her ground, feet at shoulder length and, now, arm-crossed, putting a barrier between them until he, to her standards, deserved to get any closer than that.

«Slow down. There is no need to consider anything too serious yet, Sakamaki Ayato, my passion will come in due time, but we have just met...» Scarlett stated, not changing her amused tone but certainly letting her words sound as the most obvious thing in the world, «I am, however, very intrigued by those things that plague your mind, fufu. But first, be honest with me. . .»

Crimson locks fell to the side of her face as she slightly tilted her head down, eyes remained firm, observing, testing, analyzing the emerald pair in front of her. Pointy ivories poked out of her condescending grin, as if caressing every word that crossed her lips— «. . . You know you can't have an open mind if you always play the same games, yes? In fact,. . .»

with no apparent reason to stop himself, ayato scoffs, immediately amused by the prospect of being considered such 'prey' ( perhaps there was a time, once, when the word mother would have been considered akin to a hunter - but even those memories come out with him as the sole victor ) as he begins to picture what she wishes to imply, a situation where their roles somehow reverse and only at that does his brow raise, fingers raising to chin with an expression that remains torn between amusement and a somewhat concerning sense of interest.

A Vampire doing what a Vampire does? Of course she wouldn't find the thrill in that oh-so original plot line.

«. . .don't tell me that's all you have to bring to the table?» A fanged grin sealed her challenging sentence, savoring how he did not recoil at the implication, but considered it for a second, despite his privileged Vampiric position. . . Now that was potential, that was the unspoken thrill in Scarlett's eyes.

«It is funny, you see. . .» she cooed, with a demeanor that threatened with stepping into arrogance— she gave herself permission to mindlessly play with the tip of his tie, «those interested in me also like a little bit of hunting. A Lady's touch. A kiss on the bruises. . .~»

Suddenly, a bold tug at his poorly-tied tie shortened the distance between their faces—— and for only a second, contrary to the expected, the temperature seemed to drop. Seemly out of nowhere, but really not: as she invaded his personal space, the amethyst eyes that nagged him shifted into obsidian voids for a moment so short that it could have been a hallucination should the Vampire blink at the wrong moment. Not the temperature alone, but something in the air suddenly resembled a bad omen.

A suspiciously short second it was. The next, fresh air, nothing remarkable about the weather, just. . . Their closeness. For everyone else, it seemed like two redheads flirting in their own way.

With their noses almost touching due to the female having his tie now wrapped around her hand like a leash, a playfully purple wink seemed to whisper: 'I could bite you too if I wanted.'

But something else came out of her crimson lips.

«. . . You are not scared of a little Ghoul, are you?»

"Dear Scarlet, since the last time i've heard word from you was last year or a couple of months ago to be specific. Things for me haven't been well here, i've feel like I lost control of my life here and my friends from the other universe either been abandoning me or disappearing which I don't like, this also applies to some lovers I had. I've been able to go to my home area and been able to relax there. I've been wishing for things to be better a lot for me here. I hope to hear back from you."

I have been dealing with my own demons, hence why I was unable to write back for a while. I'm sorry to learn that you found how the reality of things isn't always pretty. Stolen Stars AU— Thread Continuation w/ @mino-diabolik

Uncharacteristically patient as she's never been, Scarlett waited in silence for Mystic's reactions to her words. It took a while longer than usual every time, but when they had all the time in the world, why rush? No one was there to interrupt, they were where they were supposed to be, she could wait forever if she had to. After all, if it wasn't her, who would...?

It took but a moment for his flinch to be noticed by the Ghoul, who brightly smiled as though it was a signal that her words went through him and nothing else. His attention falling upon her made her lean in with expectation, her hand gently hugging his own as he cupped her cheek.

He called her a color. That was cute.

“Ahh, you don't... but you could,” she responded, giggly as a teenager crushing. That simple word brought a soothing feeling to her disrupted mind, like the nostalgia of recovering something lost but well-known, and she couldn't help but lean into his hand further, “red is a cute color. And so tasty, fufu~”

Her blackened glance lost eye contact with the Ghoul before her as she focused on the hand touching her cheek, which she still held in place as to not ever lose it. It was like her skin found comfort in the physical touch, the feeling of the rough, deadly cold, sticky wet hand of her friend was oddly familiar.

However, her giggly demeanor was short lived as Mystic muttered something else.

«Revolver»

Revolver...?

As though the gentle soft memories were suddenly stabbed with a silver dagger, that word alone, for some unknown reason, brought physical pain to her brain. It hurt. It hurt to remember something she wasn't aware of. It hurt, why, why did it hurt?

It could only mean one thing.

“——You don't need that.”

She announced coldly, sharply. Her eyes still lost, wandering, her smile now gone also at the sense of impending danger. The pool of blood they were both lying on felt familiar and embracing again.

“You don't need a gun,” she reaffirmed, with a small frown of annoyance. Her free hand gripped on his chin as to be face-to-face with whatever remained of Mystic, “you don't need to get more hurt. You won't get more hurt,” half a promise half a scolding, Scarlett's words were definitive, “I won't let you get in harm's way, so think of something else.”

For some reason she only seemed to assume harm was only coming his way, not hers, and that was distressing enough. ...Too distressing to think about for too long. A few seconds later, she sighed and blinked a few times as she recovered her smile, soothing him with her thumb stroking his crimson lips, “do you want dessert?”

“For a drink?” Taken by surprise by the abrupt invite, Mystic was caught tears and laughter. “Oh, Red, dear. You ain’t gotta clue what havin’ me drinkin’ under your tab’s gonna be like.” He chuckled lightly.

Despite his apprehension, Mystic was already savoring a few fingers of rye. Perhaps a cocktail, or four. Throw in a mimosa, for safe measure. It had been a while since the last time he had been able to settle down and have a decent drink. Frankly, the mere thought made him antsy.

Mystic reached out to hold Scarlett’s hand and tugged it toward him. He pinched it up her fingers and spun her place. The Founder swiftly pulled her against him and grinned down at her, intertwining the fingers of their free hands.

“But if you insist on takin’ me out, how could I ever refuse our darling Red?”

Scarlett couldn't help but roll her eyes upon Mystic's reaction, "I know you have more toxins than cells in your body, I know..."

She joined his chuckle, a knowing glance following her words while he acted as if he had recalled the funniest inner joke. While the Ghoul was aware of his escapades, it was true that she hadn't witnessed them with any drinks involved, which was honestly enough reason to be wary. However, it also made her a little curious.

The redhead seemed to wrongly believe that nothing could surprise her anymore. How badly could this go?

When the Founder smoothly held her hand and made her spin into an embrace, Scarlett found herself easily swayed by his carefree charm, her eyes kept in contact with his alluring ones, for they ended up so close. Undeniably confortable with his touch, a devious grin slowly started to appear, her eyes went down to focus on his lips, then further down to his jawline, his neck, his unmarked skin——

"——Wonderful," soon she stopped the path her mind was taking, and squeezed Mystic's hand back while she closed her eyes and shrugged to dissimulate a sigh, "well, there is a new bar a few blocks from here, they say if you bring a plus 1 you can get free drinks until midnight for its Grand opening. Of course I thought of you as a good company~" she sheepishly tilted her head, "we can walk there, it's not far."

The alcohol was a good excuse to save herself some heart attacks, she thought to herself, she knew how dangerous he was when driving sober. Not a chance.

"It can be fun, I promise I won't take advantage of you if you black out...," she winked, "...fufu, unless you want me to~."

Mystic didn't miss a beat as he watched the Ghoul trail a path across his visage and the most vulnerable areas of his being. "Oi, oi, what're ya draggin' those eyes all over so hungrily for?" He teased, leaning closer to shorten the space between them. Mystic pressed his nose just to the side of the bridge of Scarlett's nose in subtle nuzzling gesture. "Oh, I'm sure you'd love to have my drunken ass all to yourself. How cunnin', missy."

The Founder pulled back, gazing down at the brilliant violet orbs holding him on a chokehold. Hells, he was truly not Hades' strongest soldier. It was only because of the proper decency he had that Scarlett's plump vermillion lips weren't about to be smeared in the middle of the street.

Should he actually get blackout, shit-faced? He couldn't remember the last time he drank himself numb only for the sake of making himself look as palatable as possible to someone.

"If it's close-by, all the better," Mystic said. "Though I'm a great drunk driver. I do this all the time. Ya ain't gotta worry 'bout it, Red. When have I ever not taken you back home one piece?"

He shifted to continue ahead, but continued to hold one of her hands. "Go on, then. Show us the way."

A devious look was all she gave in response to his assumption before focusing ahead. If there was something Scarlett found utterly useless at this point, was pretending to be indifferent about Mystic, like she wouldn't drag him down the next alleyway and make a complete mess of him without a second thought.

Not yet, she thought to herself, holding his hand back as she led them towards their destination.

"A great driver, yes, I believe you—— but it's not happening tonight," she responded to his defense of his driving. It was true that they haven't had any accidents, but that didn't make her feel any safer with him behind a stirring wheel, "besides, the night city is quite pretty..."

Not often did they get to enjoy a moment by themselves without an intermediary event or an external circumstance that drove them together. Scarlett knew that Mystic was far more used to the nightlife and she was, which, unlike his driving skills, made her believe he'd be trustworthy to be around in that environment. In the meantime, the streets illuminated by neon lights and eye-catching billboards had the crow in her quite amazed and chatty about it for a while. It wouldn't compare to the moon and stars in the forest, but it got her eyes bouncing with fascination from place to place, as she gently rocked their intertwined hands together while walking.

Banter, chatter, loud laughter, the city was more chaotic than she was used to, and the more they advanced the more it all seemed to increase from the different crowds gathering around. Yet as loud as it could appear, it also felt contagious.

"...come to think of it, I must say I was lucky to find you free for once. Did your boss finally give you a break...?", she commented, nonchalant, once they slowed down and queued outside the pub she talked about earlier. It moved quite fast, dim blue lights from inside could be caught from their spot, along with some faint music that wasn't strident enough to muffle the entirety of their voices, at least not for now. Her curious purple hues shifted from the surroundings to completely focus on her friend again, tilting her head slightly up to speak directly at him. For a second she wished she was wearing her highest heels.

"... Because I want to relax and have fun tonight. So, if I have to return you home by midnight, you better tell me now~"

She grinned and pressed her cheek on his shoulder, ready to drag him in as soon as the queue was over, "but I'll still let you decide what to start with."

"——Wonderful," soon she stopped the path her mind was taking, and squeezed Mystic's hand back while she closed her eyes and shrugged to dissimulate a sigh, "well, there is a new bar a few blocks from here, they say if you bring a plus 1 you can get free drinks until midnight for its Grand opening. Of course I thought of you as a good company~" she sheepishly tilted her head, "we can walk there, it's not far."

The alcohol was a good excuse to save herself some heart attacks, she thought to herself, she knew how dangerous he was when driving sober. Not a chance.

"It can be fun, I promise I won't take advantage of you if you black out...," she winked, "...fufu, unless you want me to~."

Eating... The word lingered in her mind. A great amount of self-control was required to not pull a snarky comment and ruin... what could otherwise be a surprise, if the faint scent of her nature was hidden enough under her perfume. Time shall tell, would this Vampire appreciate all the different kinds of eating when the stakes are high...?

«You would be surprised...» Nonchalant, the redhead female's interest was certainly caught; the fact that it promised to be something balanced in both preferences and, well, passion (why on earth would it be 'unhealthy' if the sentiment was mutual?) could be what caught her eye most. All that was left was to prove his statements were, for one, true, and he wasn't only flattering himself... «I don't intend to let you win without a fight, I may like my challenges probably as much as you do. Ha, but it's up to us to find out how open both our minds can be... or who gives up first. Isn't that challenging enough~?»

The Ghoul wouldn't admit it right there, but that enthusiastic interest from her impulsive counterpart was almost cute.

Never once breaking eye-contact, poised yet amused amethysts admired his explicit enthusiasm, the rest of her expression unchanging. His forward moves made her stand firmer on her ground, feet at shoulder length and, now, arm-crossed, putting a barrier between them until he, to her standards, deserved to get any closer than that.

«Slow down. There is no need to consider anything too serious yet, Sakamaki Ayato, my passion will come in due time, but we have just met...» Scarlett stated, not changing her amused tone but certainly letting her words sound as the most obvious thing in the world, «I am, however, very intrigued by those things that plague your mind, fufu. But first, be honest with me. . .»

Crimson locks fell to the side of her face as she slightly tilted her head down, eyes remained firm, observing, testing, analyzing the emerald pair in front of her. Pointy ivories poked out of her condescending grin, as if caressing every word that crossed her lips— «. . . You know you can't have an open mind if you always play the same games, yes? In fact,. . .»

🎄 Mrs. Claus has arrived!

Sitting next to an open window, Scarlett awaited for Roo to come home— hopefully he wouldn’t freak out too much, unlike Mr. Claus himself, Mrs. Claus did like to see people’s faces when they found her. Besides, she has already been to his house before! And she now carried a tiny little red bag with her, while checking Roo’s name on the list.

“Roo-chan~” she called as soon as she saw him, “it’s been a while, has it not? We can save explanations for later…” she waved a hand in the air, there was no time to explain how she got Santa Claus’ job, “you’d be glad to know that you have been very good this year~ Working hard, helping little crows in distress… fufu. Unless I’m missing some misdeeds? Well, they can’t be that bad, right?”

“Why don’t you tell me where you would like to go for some time off, while you’re at it? A little elf told me you are in need for some vacations...~”

Roo shut the door to his apartment. He sighed. His feet ached. Holding his temple, Roo trudged toward his bed. But then he noticed a figure near the window.

Roo gasped. “Santa!”

He clapped his hands together. “Oh, my God, you’re actually real—”

Then his face dropped. “Scarlett-san? Are you… Santa?”

“Ah… okay…” His eyes lit up. “Really? I’ve been good this year? Ah— well, it’s not like I’ve been trying to be bad on purpose! I think…”

Did cutting contact with his mother qualify as “bad” behavior? Roo quickly shook the thought away.

“Hmm… well,” he tapped his chin. “I’ve always wanted to visit the Philippines! My mother’s from there!”

Roo casted his eyes downward as he pursed his lips. “She never talked about it though…”

His hands clapped together again. “But I’m sure it’s gorgeous there! I’ve heard the cuisine is exquisite also!”

"What is that disappointment in your tone? Sigh... don't tell you were expecting to see that man after all?" Scarlett twisted her lips, a little upset, "well, he's out of service this year. Maybe in future ones to come... so get used to this face, okay?"

"Anyway..." she brushed it off, "It is to be expected. I believe most bad deeds aren't purposeful also, so you should be fine... Until I get the hang of this job, of course... I swear this man is too benevolent with some people..."

She whispered under her breath as she took her little bag again. After putting her hand inside, its interior began to shine.

"Fufu... That gift can be arranged, Mrs. Claus does it best~" With her hand still in the bag, as if looking for something, Scarlett continued to take her role pretty seriously, "Tell me, Roo-chan~ do you wish to go alone, or is there any companion you have in mind for such a trip, hm? Don't be afraid to be greedy, I don't think that man would give you the chance to be so picky, fufu."

Roo’s eyes wandered the room. Did he really have anyone to take with him? He was sure everyone else would be busy spending the holidays with their family…

But then he had an idea.

“Scarlett-san, why don’t you go with me? You need a vacation too, right? I’m sure this ‘Mrs. Claus’ business is tiresome, no?”

He leaned in closer to Scarlett, holding a hand between them to ensure his message passed along and whispered: “And I hear they have peach mango floats~!”

Scarlett repeatedly blinked.

"...Me...?"

It took her a moment to process his decision. Why would Roo choose her, of all people? Though, he did raise a fair point... It was a tiresome job, especially with how terrible that man has been handling it.

Scarlett offered a softer smile, finally taking her hand out of the bag to reveal two plane tickets. She waved them in the air, a little smug, but also pleased.

"If that's your wish... Then I don't see why not. I have never been to the Philippines, or... Taken a plane at all... So this will be an experience, fufu."

Despite not being what she originally planned, she was happy. And nervous, to a degree. But perhaps it was a good chance to get to know each other better... For better or for worse.

"I will take you on that offer, those peach mango floats better be good!" She chuckled, excited, then closed the distance between them just a little, "We must prepare everything for as soon as possible, but for now... Merry Christmas, Roo!"

And so, she planted a small smooch on Roo's cheek.

🎄 Mrs. Claus has arrived!

She may or may not have forgotten to tell some people —like Mystic, precisely— about her new job of sorts, so hopefully it won't come off as too much of a shock when he finds a festive Scarlett sitting alone in his room, leg-crossed on an armchair right next to the chimney. Symbolic, of course, the open window to the balcony was a much more reasonable explanation as to how she got there...

But Christmas worked in mysterious ways.

“Mystic, Mystic…” She sing-sang as soon as her friend came into the room, swinging one of her legs, amused, “someone got a little too many misdeeds this year, didn’t he…?”

Oh, Heavens. Mystic seemed to have ended up on the naughty list… what of all was it? His endless recklessness, the multiple heart attacks he could have given her (if she had a beating heart)? Not like he hadn’t done any good, but…

Well, the red bag at her feet was still hiding something within.

“Be glad it’s just me, and not the other incompetent… Mr. Claus would have let you go with a slap on the wrist. Fufu, oh, well… I'm in a good mood, so tell me... What would you say was the worst thing you have done this year to end up here? I’ll let you choose, self-awareness if good enough for me to give you a gift... but I cannot let your sins go unpunished.”

It was funny, actually. The way Mystic had staggered into his room still covered in the filth of his work; dried blood splattering his handsome traits. And to make matters worse, in his hand, he carried a half-emptied bottle; the golden richness of the whiskey swishing about with his movements.

Mrs. Claus was surely asking him to confess for her own amusement, right?

Mystic felt as though he was being chastised, but rather than growing annoyed, he felt slightly flustered. He thought he was being sneaky, but his attempt at hiding the bottle behind him were not subtle at all.

“Oh, woe is me.” The Founder sighed. Quite frankly, he wasn’t sure how he was supposed to react.

Why in the seven rings of Hell was Scarlett playing the role of Claus? Perhaps he had missed a passing fact she had mentioned previously.

Defeated, the Founder placed the bottle over a nearby nightstand, then approached the side of his bed. He spun around once, then plopped down over the mattress. It wasn’t entirely clear whether he was drunk or simply exhausted.

“I’m sure you know very well what I’ve been up to, yeah?” Mystic tilted his head back over the edge of the mattress. “I can’t even remember everything I’ve done this last couple of months. Doesn’t surprise me I’ve landed myself a slot in the naughty list, though. But I’d be lyin’ if I said I didn’t want a gift of my own this season.”

A wide grin spread across his lips. “Now tell me, Mrs. Claus: What do I gotta do to have my sins forgiven?”

He never changed. He wasn't going to, she knew it, and, frankly, that was hardly her intention. Not too long after the founder entered the room, her nose itched, and the closer he got, the less subtle it was the gesture of Mrs. Claus annoyed nose scrunch.

The blood was dry, but it was still blood. In fact, because it was dry, she found it pretty pungent. Not pleasant at all.

Given the ultimate vagueness Mystic provided, it was up to the Ghoul to choose how to proceed. If a punishment was in order, a punishment of some sort it would be: she knew very well that no classic tactic would end up being very punishing, for either of them, if she got any violent. As a reliable and responsible Mrs. Claus, despite her attire, she wasn't about providing an enjoyable moment when that wasn't what was due.

"...Taking a bath would be a great start," a purple glare darted right back at his mismatched pair, with not enough playfulness to make it look like a joke. Because it wasn't, "you stink. You're nasty. I'm not going to give you anything looking and smelling like that, you hear me? Get up."

Scarlett folded the list and got up first, walking over to Mystic to grab him by the collar of his shirt and pull him up herself, "no resting until you look decent again! Where's the bathroom? I will personally make sure you— Ugh— how much have you been drinking!?"

Fished by the collar of his shirt, Mystic would be lying if he didn’t say he was utterly impressed.

He wasn’t drunk. He didn’t think so at least. Whiskey did have a pretty strong smell, so it wasn’t strange for the Ghoul to pick up on it. Maybe what she was smelling was a mixture of dried blood and alcohol, which could only possibly make things worse.

“Oh, you’re so borin’ for that!” Mystic whined.

He was left right at the bathroom’s open door, feeling slightly hazy. He glanced back at the Ghoul once, then resigned himself to his situation. He began by hopping from one feet to the other as he tugged at the zipper of his boots, before proceeding to kick them off. He followed with his jacket, dropping it along the way as he paced across the tiled floor in his socks. His steps were marked by each individual garments he discarded.

All these without much mind to Scarlett’s presence. In his logic, what hadn’t she seen?

A lazy flick of his wrist was all that was needed for the faucet to open and a few bathing tools to come marching over to fill up the tub. It was a wild sight… in the most comical of ways.

Mystic wouldn’t normally opt for using his powers for such non-laborious tasks, however he wasn’t typical state of mind. Whether low on the sudden loss of adrenaline or too lost in the flavor of his liquor, there was not way of saying for sure.

The Founder spun around on the heels of his feet and snapped his fingers at Scarlett, a dumb smile on his face. He toppled back over the edge of the bathtub, engulfed in a wave of red and golden tendrils.

From under the water…

Huff, huff, huff!

The damp mane of a large canine emerged. The same mismatched eyes adorned the void that was the large animal. Its white denture—though very much inhuman—seemed to continue exhibiting that same aura that Mystic always had.

It was almost as if the creature was taunting the Ghoul.

As Mystic got rid of each of his garments in his way to the bathroom, Scarlett let out a sigh of relief. It could have been worse. She followed him, and couldn't help but pick up the clothes he'd carelessly take off, just to put the pile elsewhere when he was done undressing.

It wasn't usual for them to share anything remotely close to a domestic moment, and so part of her wondered if he's always been so messy... though, considering his lifestyle, the answer was obvious.

Not his nakedness, but the objects in the bathroom suddenly marching on their own towards the tub was what caught her off guard— the Ghoul's eyes widened as she froze in place to process what she was witnessing. It also made her a little flustered how she seemed to forget that despite all, Mystic was still a very powerful and magic individual.

Soap, bathbombs, sponges, body wash...? Scarlett had to laugh. It was almost adorable.

The sudden finger snap brought her back to reality.

"Eh——!?" After a grin that only meant trouble, she had little time to react before the founder got into the water in one form... And came out in another.

It was looking too easy, indeed, to last. Well, at least he got in the tub.

Now two canine eyes challenged her patience...

"Oh, is this how you want to play?" Stepping further into the bathroom, Mrs. Claus was quick to pick a few of the dancing bathbombs and toss them into the water. As they disintegrated in cute colors, she also caught a shampoo bottle and poured its content in one latex-dressed hand, "I've never washed a creature your size, but that won't stop me. I will make sure you become the cleanest puppy of all."

"Now, who's a good boy~?" Scarlett taunted back, menacingly, before aiming for the fur behind his ears and rub rub rub rub her way into creating soft foam down the wolf's neck.

Mystic watched her approached, wagging his tail impatiently; the water swayed rhythmically with his own movements.

The tub was built into the structure of the bathroom, almost like a personal jacuzzi or sauna room. The large animal no trouble diving back into the water to avoid Scarlett, or skipping about around it, making a mess of water without a care in the world. He even planted his front legs before him and bent down, patiently waiting for her to finish with her ears and crest, before disappearing under the water once more.

The soap floated up to the surface of the water, then he resurfaced, shaking the water off his mane. He was vaguely aware of splashing Scarlett as he did so. He hadn't intended it, but also not done anything to avoid it.

Once done, the large wolf plopped his head on the edge of the tub. He sat there in silence for a moment, when bright tendrils of gold and red floated off his figure a second time.

Mystic was once more the handsome prince he often presented himself as. His arms glistened with the light of the room and the water of the tub as he used them to pillow his head. Despite the mess he had made, he seemed awfully content and comfortable.

"You know," he chuckled quietly, "takin' a bath wasn't all that bad of an idea, after all. I'm feelin' a lot better now." He tilted his head slightly. "Don't know of water and soap's enough to cleanse all my sins of this past year."

"Wai——!?" As Scarlett bent slightly to catch the wolf's mane, it didn't last long before the animal... behaved like an animal. It was a miracle that she didn't slip and fall into the tub herself after such his sudden rush of playfulness, right when she had her hands on him. From her spot, all she had the chance to do was covering her face with her arms as a reflex from the reckless splashes of water and fur. Her initial annoyance eventually evolved into a softer glance and a sigh.

Now the dress was wet, but the job was done... somewhat.

"Are you done?" Scarlett finally asked when the wolf calmed down and once again her sight was met with red and golden hues. She couldn't help but wonder if that was really all but there was a much more pleasant scent in the air than before... sweet and floral from the bathtubs and the little bit of foam she was able to create.

She looked down at the founder with a hand on her hips, as the other took her hat off and dropped it on his head. The wet fabric was a little annoying, not unbearable, but it sure gave her another idea.

"I doubt your sins would be cleared up with all the soap in this world, but at least you'll look and smell good in your next misadventure. You are very welcome," she ruffled her slightly wet hair, throwing it back to keep it from getting tangled by the humidity, "unfortunately..."

"...you really don't waste time from sin to sin, do you? What a lost cause..." the tip of her boot slid below his chin, lifting it up to look at him directly, smugly, from above, "you ruined my dress, young man. How are you fixing this?"

"You see, then what was the reason you wanted me to take a bath?" Mystic chuckled, seemingly unbothered by Scarlett lifting his face with the tip of her shoe. As a matter of fact, he seemed gleeful about it. "There're always innocents in the crossfire. It ain't my fault you wanted to bathe the pretty pup."

Subtly, the Founder leaned closer onto the red lady's shoe. He inhaled quietly, almost unsure of what he could do or say. The liquor swishing about in his blood had not yet subsided and wouldn't allow him to put together any coherent thoughts.

The Founder's eyes brightened. An idea turning him giddy.

He canted his head to the side. Water dribbled over his eye as he offered a lazy smile. "There's not much I can do 'bout your dress now. So... you might as well take it off."
