I'm glad someone else remembers it! it was such a good show! Did I read earlier that you did a production course at Leicester? What did you do after that? I'm, hopefully, graduating my TV course at Bournemouth in June . . . scary times!
Sorry I have taken forever to answer this, have been rather busy these past couple of weeks.
I studied BSc (Hons) Media Production at De Montfort University in Leicester. I specialised mainly in TV production with BBC training on the course. Upon graduating, my goal at the time was to try and get work in TV, mainly on long haul drama units. However, when I had first attended University, I had wanted to be in the film industry. My course didn't really prepare me at all for that, so I had to learn everything about it myself, and from the very kind people I had met along the way.
I got my break working on a feature film in Poland as a trainee Spark (lighting department). And, that, I would say, is where I really caught the film bug. After spending a month on set, I fell in love with the job. I couldn't see myself doing anything else.
So, I came back to the UK, and with a feature credit on my CV, things started to snowball for me. I met some absolutely wonderful colleges and friends who I have learnt off of, and read a hell of a lot. I quickly made the move from lighting to camera department, and am now working (when I can) as a Clapper/Loader or Focus Puller. And my goal for the future? To become a Cinematographer and then possibly a Director. A little different, but that's how I would like it.
But don't get me wrong, it has been hard work. It still is hard work. I am still trying to get to a level of stability in what I do right now, so that I can live off it. There have been up's, and down's, but I guess if you want something so badly, and you're willing to work your arse off and learn everything you can to get it, you'll get somewhere.
