KIN'EMON & HIS "PRIDE"
I really enjoy how despite Kin'emon being described and acting on a surface level as someone prideful (especially for the first time we see him) the more we see of him the more you can easily understand that it is mostly a facade of samurai masculine stereotype that he tries to fit in, while his real persona is far from that ideal, as Kin'emon is in fact, really emotional, easy to push own ego aside and probably also insecure.
"i would never beg a pirate for help", Kin'emon said, as he proceeded to ask for help multiple times in future.
He kneeled for Sanji's forgiveness on Punk Hazzard (one of first things we see him doing when he, figuratively and literally, collected himself together, making it possible for a full character introduction, even if we knew him before that already), he kneeled for Luffy when asking for their help on Zou, he kneeled for help when they thought that raid on Onigashima was doomed, he kneeled when understanding it was a mistake, and he did, despite feeling shameful, whispered Luffy for help after being defeated by Kaido. And he is mostly really open about own emotions and feelings, whether they good or bad around friends.
I think it what makes him not only a compelling character, but what also shows why he was able to free Wano - because unlike Oden, who was most of his life struggling with accepting help from others (and showing others own negative emotions, especially when it came to something like tears), Kin, even when being at his lowest point, was able to learn and accept that he in fact does need support, that he can provide back as much as he can, despite own insecurities.
God, i love this man so much.
