I'm Renna, a self-taught queer artist (they/them pronouns, please) who specializes in digital pet and animal art, but has become equally comfortable drawing human and humanoid subjects over the years. Art is a way for me to connect with my communities, whether that is through art celebrating queer experiences, fanart, animals, or mental health works; I'm always thrilled to share.

Not to sound like a decrepit, rambling corpse about it, but back in my day Word used to be a pre installed program that came with your computer, if you were running Windows.
No subscription. Just program.
On your computer. You got to use it forever and ever and never had to worry about it going away.
Because it was physically on your computer. As a program. That you actually owned. Not because you got it separately, but because it was a standard inclusion with your computer.
I'm sorry but I'll just never get over it. I remember when companies cared about their products being usable out of the box. I remember when our things belonged to us.

The Clip Studio Asset challenge theme going on right now is “chains”, I’d been meaning to make some chain brushes anyway for optimizing Pipeburn so I don’t need to ink every individual link in every panel like I did last time and decided to actually enter for once. I made a set of set-dressing chains with varying levels of detail to be layered through Foreground, middle ground, and background in scenes, as well as some various jewelry and machine chains. They’re all free for whoever wants them, but if you download/like/share you can help increase my chances of winning some Clippy!
The first of the tableaus in Cloudward Ho - these MASSIVE illustrations were a collaboration: I did the layout, lineart, and color keys. Character designs by Simon Roy (@simonroy.bsky.social) Background colors by @domirine and Character colors by @galacticjonah ♥
Here's some chopped versions to enable closer inspection - get your magnifying glasses, everyone! ♥
Image ID: Tabira City. A panoramic layout of the city square, a bustling marketplace on a walking city in the desert. It is populated by many many people, crystal and plant folk, dinosaurs, simians, and constructs. There is a food stall, military officers, shoppers, and a brontosaur carrying people to-and-fro. A fantastical city with airships in the background.
Random but do you have general tips to draw humanoid character with animal ear without their human ear while not making it looks weird or uncanny?
The main tip I have regarding any form of humanoid stylisation is to use human anatomy as a base and sort of morph from there.
In the case of ears, it's worth understanding what components make them up and how they need to shift and change relative to other elements of the head/face to look like a natural extension of the already existing anatomy VS something added onto it and out of place
Personally, I also try to make sure the rest of the face gets adjusted and more angular/"animal-like" to make it mesh better with the ear shape
One thing you don't want to do is add the hair and then just sort of paste ears to the top of the skull without thinking about how they play with the jawline
god. GOD the devastation that emily axford can portray... ough.
alternate version and the shot of emily that inspired this below the cut. I'm inconsolable that it's over and so so happy that both ludmila and marya came out of it alive.
drew the wife ❤️ every time I make a new veilguard playthrough I have to stop myself from romancing neve bc I wanna romance everyone but that's my wifeeeee
ko-fi has been added to the pinned post, but i'll give it its own post too. my phone service has been turned off and they want $90 to turn the bitch back on, so if anyone is interested in commissions, remember those are open too! <3
i'd like to add that the shadow color isnt necessarily dictated entirely by the primary light source, but the bounce light! so for the example of a sunny environment, the reason the shadows are blue are because of the light from the blue sky reflects across the environment; but, if the character were to be under tree cover, the bounce light would be coming from the leaves and thus the shadow would look greener.
