The club had just closed for the day, all of the guests had long since left and even the last few of the hosts had gone home. It left just the two of them in a relatively comfortable silence, one that seemed like a rarity now that Haruhi was part of their little happy family. Tamaki had been quietly flipping through a magazine, looking for inspirations for the next around of parties they needed to plan. He had always been quite oblivious to the fact that Kyoya tended to plant said magazines in his sights so he could get the right inspiration.

Thought admittedly he was a tad bit distracted today, unable to focus on the task at hand. So much so that he eventually broke the silence between the two of them. "Kyoya? What are your plans for Sunday? Are you busy?"

         A theme for every month had been a plan for the year & a task he had every intent on delegating to in order to not only spread the chores around but to instill within the host club a sense of responsibility , work ethics , maybe even some urgency . The way some of them ( won't name names - - unbecoming truly ) would just meander about ; no need or want to do anything out of being there & acting the part . There was more to all of than just acting & even that was 𝐒𝐔𝐁𝐏𝐀𝐑 for one or two on a good day - - again , won't name names . 

𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊 | 𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐋 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 | 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐌 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐆𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓

       It really did take a certain type of person to put such things into motion . Kyoya was more than just that person & if he wasn't by any stretch of the means he was going to die trying work on it . The task was simple , pick the next theme or at least pick accents . That should be easy enough & yet , it was taking longer than it should have . 

𝐒𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐁𝐋𝐄 𝐒𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐁𝐋𝐄

     How 𝐁𝐎𝐋𝐃 & 𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄 it was to write down numbers in blue pen . Kyoya halted ; eyes turned upward to peak over his glasses . The expression was blank . Curious or annoyed ? Who knows . ❝ Hm ? ❞ He blinked , thinking about it for a brief moment . ❝ Currently , no . But, that is subject to change depending on what it is you are fishing for . ❞

"I'll save you the trouble & before you attempt to stop me, I've already seen the numbers. Please explain to me, why, oh why, did we need ten times the cakes I've already ordered for the spring ball???" (from kingtyped)

Oh no. Oh no he had been caught red handed.

"Ah! Well you see... what had happened... I CAN EXPLAIN!" he was stalling, as if that had ever gotten him anywhere, but he had to at least try. Tamaki had been so sure he had been careful enough this time that there was absolutely no way Kyoya would have noticed the extra expense.

"Well you see... Haruhi had maybe mentioned that she had never tried a number of the cakes, and I just.. thought if I made sure to order plenty then she could try them all... Honey said it was a good idea!" If he was going down, the older boy was going down with him.

            The biggest injustice he saw was the fact that they all assumed that somehow , someway , this would slip past the king . 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐅𝐎𝐎𝐋𝐒 ⵑ To think such a transgression would get pass the all knowing eye of Otori .

                                         𝐓𝐀𝐏 .

         & the more Tamaki attempted to defend himself the more impatient Kyoya got . Granted , in order to be this good with both money & the herding the cats , one must perfect the poker face . Never let them see you sweat or let them think you are getting under their skin . Keep both time & temperament in check .

                                         𝐓𝐀𝐏 .

        The glare from his glasses hid the murderous intent behind those grey sky eyes . How easy it would be to punish of course & yet , seeing Tamaki shaking in his boots , waiting with bated ( ANXIOUS ) breath as to his judgement . Will he be sent to the gallows & made to hang ? Drawn & quartered maybe ? Or will the 𝐉𝐔𝐃𝐀𝐒 𝐂𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐋𝐄 have another victim to add to its notched belt . 

                                         𝐓𝐀𝐏.

        Three singular taps of the pen marked the doom . Punishment ? Embarrassment . He's suffered enough . In & out with the breath , it rumbled on its way out as Kyoya cleared his throat . ❝ I see . ❞ How ominous of you Kyoya . Glasses adjusted . ❝ Well , there is no returning the order now ; we will just have to make due with the surplus of supplies . Pre - party sale , maybe ? ❞ The ideas were scribbled down . He'll recoup the expenditure somehow . ❝ Oh , & stand up will you , Tamaki ? Can't have your pants being scuffed before we open the doors for the day ; can't make worn patches marketable with this time crunch . ❞

                          How  personal  of  a  problem  was  a  such  a  thing  &  yet ,  it  was  on  his  plate  said  problem  not  resides .  What  was  he  to  do ?  What  was  expected  of  him  to  do ?  To  Kyoya ,  you  were  only  bored  if  you  made  no  effort  to  look  for  things  to  do  to  keep  busy .  Case  &  point ,  the  whining  he  was  hearing .

                         In  the  notebook  it  went .  Anything  &  everything  could  be  used  at  some  point  in  time  as  LEVERAGE .  The  notebook  was  placed  neatly  on  Hikaru  face .  Needed  something  to  write  on  after  all .   ❝  I  can  tell .  How  tragic  that  must  be  for  you . ❞  How  flippant  of  you ,  Kyoya .  He  lifted  the  book  &  proceeded  to  look  at  the  other .   ❝ Are  you  looking  for  you  a  chore ?  Or  are  we  just  meowing  for  attention . ❞

once   pencil   was   sharpened   again   he   got   back   to   work.       shading   here,       shading   there.    erasing   the   little   mistakes   he   made.       what   a   better   way   to   capture   someone’s   essence   than   when   they’re   at   their   most   natural.       for   haruhi   it   was   when   they   were   studying,       kaoru   was   when   they   were   working   with   their   costumes.       as   for   kyoya   of   course   it   would   be   when   he’s   on   his   computer   crunching   numbers.       “       what   is   it?       “      

 he   looked   up   for   a   moment,       eyebrow   raised.       “       did   milord   go   over   the   budget   again?       “       chuckling,       he   looks   back   down   at   his   sketch   book   and   puts   the   finishing   touches   onto   the   portrait.       “       alright,       “       packing   up   his   stuff,    he   flips   the   book   over   to   show   the   other.       “       what   do   you   think?       “

                            While  he  stared  at  what  he  dubbed  to  be  a  total  waste  of  money  &  time  the  soft  yet  quizzical  voice  went  unanswered .  Terrible  pattern  of  his ;  it  was  rude  and  set  a  bad  impression - - - only  with  those  who  did  not  know  Kyoya .  One  would  think  that  he  cared  very  little  for  opinions  that  he  didn't  ask  for .  They'd  be  right  but  that's  beside  the  point .  It  wasn't  until  he  talked  AGAIN  that  he  managed  to  catch  the  tail  end .  ❝  Yes.  Yes  I  did .  &  and  I  am  beginning  to  wonder  if  I  need  to  give  a  spending  limit  to  the  lot  of  you .  ❞  As  if  it  was  his  money  they  were  spending .  If  the  school  cared  little  than  he  should  also  care  little .  Without  anyone  needing  to  do  so ,  he  was  given  absolution .  &  still ,  he  cared .

                                          𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐄.

                            That's  what  important .  That's  what  was  drilled  into  all  of  them .  No  matter  what  is  on  fire  around  you ,  the  image  presented  to  onlookers  should  be  enough  to  convince  otherwise .  Words  &  phrasing  only  solidify  what  the  image  base  set  up .  Eyes  shifted .  Head  finally  craning  upwards  to  straighten  &  gaze  upon  the  piece .  Kyoya  neither  smiled  nor  frowned .  He  just . . . stared .  He  looked  so  engrossed ,  so  fixated ,  so  annoyed .  Is  -  -  is  this  what  people  thought  &  saw  when  they  looked  at  him ?  Stone  had  to  crack  &  it  chose  a  smile ,  albeit  small .  ❝  Your  strokes  with  the  pencil  are  getting  better ,  have  you  finally  found  a  quite  place  to  practice  at  home ?  ❞
