not only lo’ak had his brother’s blood on his hands, he also felt neteyam’s heart stop beating. he felt guilty and responsible for neteyam’s death and pressing his hands into the wound did absolutely nothing. and what if lo’ak thought that doing as his father oriented him could’ve helped neteyam, even if very little?

i can only think of how lo’ak would constantly revisit the memory of his older brother’s heart beating weaker and weaker until it stopped. it would eat him alive.

i was thinking of songs that could fit avatar characters and while going through my red velvet playlist, i realized the lyrics of will i ever see you again fits neteyam so well.

the song is meant to be about moving forward and the uncertainty of future encounters, while holding onto old memories. while it can be read as romantic, i like to interpret it as relationships in general, and the grief of lost relationships.

in the lyrics, “you were my dream and a miracle” could be about how neteyam is jake and neytiri’s first born son, after so many death and destruction of their home. the “our story is not over” part makes me think of how neteyam’s life was cut short, he died too young.

“the world says that nothing lasts forever; but we’ll meet again on this orbit” fits how the ancestors lie within eywa after their death. even though life always come to an end, neteyam and his family will meet in eywa.

ofc, this isn’t an in-depth analysis, but rather me geeking over avatar and red velvet lmao i just like putting things i love together like puzzle pieces

I hope Jake and Neytiri, especially Jake, find out about Lo’ak’s attempt because goddamn, that scene was so overlooked in afaa. I hope it’s brought up and discussed in A4.
