I've seen un fanfics and prompts Max wearing glasses when he is making something artistic or working on inventions. Or in the mornings and nights before and after classes when he changes to contacts

So I think Luis and the others got the chance to see Hattie with those glasses from the faceclaim someone sent you before

Oh I like that! Like how he puts on the goggles during Heartless, maybe. The others might have seen them on rare occasions then. For my own self-indulgence I'd like to think that once she comes out and slowly starts dressing more fem, she'll also stop being so embarrassed about her glasses and wear them full-time <3

*how Luisa and the other members of the Madrigal family discovered Luis is in relationship*

When the couple were hugging and a sleepy Hattie was curled againts Luis's chest, Luis received messages from his family bothering him like "when will you bring someone to home? Primo, eres muy guapo para seguir soltero" from his younger cousins

Luis answered them amused

...but he didn't notice he had his phone on speaker.

Until Hattie woke up a little from the noise and said, "love, could you turn the volume down?"

There was silence, and then one of the Madrigals was heard calling Luisa with a "TIA, LUIS TIENE NOVIA!" (you think in Luisa's reaction 😅)

Hattie assumes he's just scrolling through videos on his phone when she first wakes up, so she's shocked when she hears the shrill voices respond to her presence. "Is that your family? What did they say?"

But he's a little busy panicking as he tries to get his cousins to quiet down. "No-- oigan-- ¡Que dejen de gritar! No hay que decirle nada a mi mamá--"

The phone passes hands on the other end, and his mom's voice asks, "Luis?"

Luis groans, dragging a hand over his face. "Hi, mom..."

Hattie has no context, so she nervously adds, "Hi, Mrs. Madrigal."

Luisa pauses for a moment before speaking again. "Who's that?"

One of Luis' cousins pipes up again, this time in English. "I told you, it's his girlfriend!"

Hattie turns bright red, glancing up at Luis. (It's embarrassing to be put on the spot, but a large part of her is also feeling euphoric at having been gendered correctly over the phone. Voice training isn't an easy process.)

"...Yeah," Luis admits, a dopey smile creeping onto his face as he meets Hattie's gaze. "Mami, this is Hattie."

"Nice to meet you?" Hattie offers.

They both wait with bated breath for her reaction. Hattie jumps a little when she hears Luis' mother crying.

"Mom, please, don't cry," Luis sighs.

"Sorry," she blubbers. "I'm just so proud of you! My little boy is growing up, off in another country, with a lovely girl..."

Lovely, Hattie mouths. Luis nods firmly at her before she can try to brush off the compliment.

"Please tell me you'll bring her sometime, Luisito," she begs.

The two of them have an exchange without words.

"Of course, mami," Luis chuckles. "She'd love to meet you."

I've got an idea...Luis bringing ¿Hattie? To encanto to meet his family and Hattie being a little bit shy (once I see the headcanon of Max acting more shy when he is scared or nervious) thinking she would be rejected for his boyfriend's family 🥺

I imagined the younger madrigal kids running curious to the pretty girl half hided behind his older cousin and Luisa excited to meet the girl who catched his mijo's heart

Awwww the Madrigals would be so sweet and welcoming to her!! It's a bit overwhelming being around such a big family since growing up it was just her and her dad, but Luis sticks by her the whole time so she has someone familiar to lean on. In terms of her being shy, I think her natural coping method is to lash out when she feels nervous, but since she wants to make a good first impression she tries to bite her tongue and just ends up looking quiet and shy. It's even a little surprising to Luis since he's used to her having a sharp wit, but he thinks it's cute she's trying so hard for his family.

They offer her tons of food, which she's hesitant to accept at first, but she learns pretty quickly they're going to serve her no matter what she says. Plus since she grew up on the Isle, she a) never got to have homemade food this good, and b) feels horribly guilty about any food waste. They probably notice something is a little off about how she eats, holding her plate close and eating quickly like someone might take the food from her, and silently agree to give her even more.

Max is actually pretty smart and since Hattie realized quickly the meaning of some Luis's pet names I think Hattie would pick korean/chinese with time (and I got the headcanon Maddox used to talk in his native language when she was younger or in a psychotic episodes)

Just thinking on Hattie calling Luis "Qīn'ài de" (dear) or Nae sarang "my love"

Now Luis is the one who use the translator 🤭😅

Oh that's interesting! I could see Maddox doing that too 🤔
