I have a question!

How does one block socks without using sock blockers? I have a very low-tech sock blocker that I made out of coat hanger wire, and it works fine for plain socks, but now I have a lacy pair that need to be stretched a bit more to bring out the pattern and my DIY version isn’t cutting it. Do I just use pins and a blocking mat, or is there a better way? (I don’t usually block socks at all because you can’t really tell if they’re blocked once you put them on, but these are a gift so I want them to look nice-ish.)
