Painterly commission for @skekmal-the-hunter
SkekOk redesign from a few weeks back I revisited and finished.
Finished this diorama from Jim Henson's 'The Dark Crystal'. Awesome mini to paint!

The best guys in the entire fandom!
yeah
I don’t know who was the first to come up with the trope that skekMal can’t read because that bitch definitely can’t
*tries to draw other skeksis, ends up drawing skekSil four times
It's always weird to me when producers, writers, and even the Hensons themselves say the Skeksis hate each other. But then you see them in the movie and series and they're in cliques, genuinely enjoy each other's presence, and in some cases, worry about one another.
Now of course the relationships the Skeksis have with each other is mostly superficial: they're there to get something out of you and they're just as ready to back-stab you if the going gets tough or it's convenient for them. Like when I mentioned about being worried about each, I'm specifically mentioning when skekMal is near death and they want to keep him alive as to keep their delusion of immortality alive. They quickly worried about themselves afterwards. They're complete bastards through and through.
But they still choose the Skeksis they want to converse with. SkekOk and skekLach are great examples of this. Sure they're mean to each other, like the scene where the Scroll Keeper insults the Collector that she was never beautiful. But the two of them laugh at it anyway. And then there's the little things also like the two holding hands when they got scared and skekOk mourning skekLach's death with skekEkt. There is very clear evidence of a genuine friendship.
Hell, the political factions in the movie don't seem to hold up that well either. SkekEkt and skekAyuk are on different teams, yet they're seen strolling down the hallway talking about food. This isn't even mentioning the implication of them having a romantic fling either. Them sharing recipes with each other, skekAyuk hosting a banquet in honor of skekEkt specifically and even making him his favorite foods, and the Gourmand's little "careful" when the Ornamentalist approached the most dangerous Skeksis at the time.
Yeah, I dunno Jim Henson Company. You can keep saying they hate each other, and to an extent maybe they do, but you can't convince me they're not capable of liking one another also.
