*by "pre-screening", i typically mean any sort of behavior that exists on a spectrum of "actually watching/playing/reading the thing before you played it" to "doing any sort of research on it before letting you watch it".
feel free to share your experiences in the tags or replies or whatever!
I don't think this Counts as Pre-screening, but my parents had a hard rule that was that went as followed
G-PG: Free to watch on your own, whenever you feel like it.
PG-13: You have to watch with someone 13 or older
R: with an adult until you were 18...
Though, honestly I don't think they enforced it after about 16.
"AND DON'T FORGET, IF YOU FIND ANY RAM'S ON HOLIDAY, MAKE SURE YOU TAKE TIME OUT AND TOTALLY RUIN IT FOR THEM!"
One of my favorite lines outside of
"HOORYU!"
criticism of Labubu I will accept: the blind box format encourages rampant consumerism; some people only buy them because of the trend and they will be landfill fodder in six months when that trend dies
criticism of Labubu I will not accept: hnnnnn adults playing with toys WEIRD and BAD!!!!!
🧵 THREAD: This #PrideMonth, don’t forget that the fight for queer liberation didn’t start or end with marriage equality.
💪✨ We need to keep fighting for our rights.
Here’s are a few examples:
💋 Before the 2003 Supreme Court ruling in Lawrence v. Texas, same-smex smexual activity was illegal in fourteen U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. military
👶 Before 2015, LGBTQ+ couples couldn’t adopt in all 50 states. Before the Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, laws varied wildly by state.
🏳️🌈 Before 1973, the American Psychiatric Association listed homosmexuality as a ‘mental illness.’ In December 1973, a vote was successfully held to remove it.
🗳️ Before 1974, there were no openly gay elected officials. That changed with Kathy Kozachenko, who became the first openly gay American elected to public office in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
🎖️ Before 2011, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” banned LGBTQ+ people from serving openly in the military.
💍 Before 2015, LGBTQ+ couples couldn’t get married in all 50 states. At the time, laws varied by state, and while many states allowed for civil unions for same-sex couples, it created a separate but equal standard.
💼 Before 2020, employers could legally discriminate against queer and trans employees. It wasn’t until the U.S. Supreme Court held that an employer who fires or otherwise discriminates against an individual simply for being gay or transgender is in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
It is time! In order to celebrate getting to 1000 followers(!!) we are gonna design a furry as a community, which we will then vote on! And how will we do this? Through polls, of course. The first poll will be to determine the features and will run for a day, after which I will draw a furry with proportions matching the results. So the larger the 'ears' result, the larger the ears would be, vs if the tails result is small, they'd have a small tail, etc. So vote for whatever feature you like the most! For the sake of simplicity, I will be going with an anthro body plan.
The next poll will be to determine the color scheme, I'll offer up multiple color palettes and the winning one will be the one I use to color them in. I will of course show the line art to help you make your decision for the colors. This poll will also run for a day.
Then, once colored I will post them and voting can commence, with a week long poll like the usual submissions <3 I will try to make their gender ambiguous, so you can imagine them as whatever you like while making your decision.
All that being said...
Let's build this furry!

The US Park Service has removed the Q and T from LGBTQ+ on their site, as of Feb 13, 2025
Where it used to say LGBTQ+, it now says LGB. All mentions of pride flags besides the rainbow have been removed. On their virtual fence exhibit page, any mention of Zazu Nova, who is thought by many to be the first brick thrower, being a trans woman has been removed. The recommended reading list under History & Culture is gone.
These changes, and more, can be confirmed for yourself by looking at the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. The above link is their contact page where you can call, send an email, a letter, or message or tag them on their social media to demand the return of LGBTQ+.
and decided to write a bit of flash fiction for it, but with the character limitation on Bluesky, I didn't want to spam the feed with a thread. So gonna do a little link juggling to share this bit of writing.

((Story Start))
Iacopo's grip tightened on the spear as he stood in line. The young rat had barely reached 18 and was conscripted into the Marchlander levies. Scouts had mentioned seeing and army marching through Jarnvald territories, and they were the first line of defense for the Principalities.
As a Marchlander, he was raised on stories of the heroes to fought against the Jarnvalder raiders. In the stories the raiders weilded magics, and could even transform into monsters, but the Marchlander heroes were always brave and clever, able to outsmart their foes. While he was excited to be marked as one of these heroes, there was a hint of trepidation in the young rats voice.
"Do you think the Jarnvalders can really turn into monsters on the battlefield?"
"What, you believe in those Whisp-stories?" scoffed Merceau, a somewhat portly rat from Iacopo's village five years his senior. "It's just illusions. Strange powders their heretic-priests concoct from the strange fungi and mosses that grow in that gods forsaken land. Hah, Next, you'll be believing the Witchblades are real."
"Witchblades are real." an older hare named Bardle said, shooting a glare at Merceau, which looked intimidating with the scar that cut diagonally across the hare’s muzzle. "They don't turn into monsters, but magic is very much a part of the Jarnvalder way of life, in peace and war. But magic is a science that can be studied, and The Principalities have their own magics too.” The hare put a large handpaw on Iacopo’s shoulder. “That armor you’re wearing is commissioned especially by the Marquese herself." He rapped on the Iacopo's cuirass with a paw. "Each plate is made with a small portion of starsteel blessed by priests themselves. It should protect you from the worst of the spells."
"That makes me feel a bit better." Iacopo said.
"Superstitious nonsense." Merceau muttered, "Your just trying to keep us from getting scared. Magic ain't real, not like the steel at the end of my spear."
As Merceau scoffed there was a sound, a far off crash like thunder.
“What was that?” Iacopo said. “Thunder?”
“Can’t be.” Merceau said, “Not a cloud in the sky.” Bardle’s nose twitched.
“There is something on the wind… I can’t place it.” The three of them sniffed.
“Sulfur?” Iacopo said, “Like those sky-flowers that the village sometimes get for Princes’ Day?”
Bardle’s eyes widened. “Cordite! But that’s not possible. The Jarnvalder’s don’t have cordite.” Another thunderous clap echoed through the trees. There was a crash, and the beasts found themselves tossed in the air.
When Iacopo righted himself he saw a strange thing. Troops bearing an insignia from a land he didn’t recognize, but they were most certainly not Jarnvalders. They were armed with something that looked like shortened polearms with wooden handles. He couldn’t see much before they held their weapons aloft. A smaller series of cracks erupted as white smoke billowed out. There was a whizzing sound as something Struck Merceau. The older rat was knocked down from the force. Iacopo ran to his aid.
Lodged in the wound was a sling stone, about the size of a marble. How did a sling stone get in the wound? The advancing army raised their weapons again. Another volley of explosions. And a few other soldiers fell. Iacopo realized that the armies weapons were hurling these stones as fast as lightning bolts at their armies. This wasn’t war… this was slaughter. Their line had broken, he wanted to run, but without the order to retreat, he could be tried and convicted of desertion. At best, he would be exiled, and at worst, executed. But holding the line was an impossible task as well. Whoever this army was, they could sling stones harder and faster than their shields and spears could hold up against.
The young rat cried out in maddening fear. He sat down, and took off his helmet, and waited. He wished he was back home on the farm. He wished he was a hero in his stories who could fight against all the monsters of the Jarnvald. At least the whisp-stories made sense.
