How to worship lady Hygieia
I am a current devotee of her, and it is SHAMEFUL how niche she was with how culturally significant she used to be to the ancient Greeks.
Granddaughter of Apollo and either the child and spouse of Asclepius. I prefer to read it as she is his daughter, but like all ancient relationships the truth is lost to time and not black and white. Anyway, she is the goddess of hygiene, cleanliness and the prevention of disease. Her father/ spouse is the god of medicine.
when not the wife of Asclepius, she is seen as a virgin goddess, like Athena and Hestia.
Of course, before working with her, do the basic things for deity work. But here's some offerings I have given her that she likes:
-Hydrangea flowers / scent (she has them both on her alter, and that's her candles scent)
-Deink offerings given in cups that resemble the ones she feeds snakes in (so like, sorta wine-glass like)
-Brushing your teeth 2-3 times a day, for the full 2 minutes
-Regular use of Deodorant, Lotion, bathing products, etc. anything that keeps you clean
-Having a clean space both for yourself and your worship
-Cleaning out your phone / spaces or junk, and giving away what you can to people who want and need it
-if you can, Give hygiene products to homeless shelters or group homes who take donations. Even drives for single parents or veterans groups.
-SUNSCREEN. Look at me? Look at me. SKIN CANCER ISN'T A JOKE.
-Getting a reasonable amount of sleep
-Taking any meds / vitamins
-Those cleaning games? Like on Roblox or that power washing game lmao.
Hygieia is such a kind goddess! She is very patient with my unproductive ass, and quite the gentle spirit. I would 10/10 recamend her! Also great if you have a disability or mental health issue that prevents daily worship. She's quite patient.
