happy second week of pride

You can see that Robby was trying so hard to hold back his tears as soon as Abbot started talking to him at the beginning of the episode. That's his best friend, his best friend who finally realised how bad the situation is, his best friend who is concerned about him and his best friend who is finally speaking up and trying to talk to him about this, and Robby knew he wouldn't be able to handle it. So when he finally breaks, the expression on his face means so much. He is letting it out, he is crying, he is finally talking to someone about it, who knows exactly what he is feeling. This deep devotion to the job, the guilt of wanting to leave it all behind. Knowing that he, in fact, DOES make a difference by being here and that going away could cost lives. Jack knows it because he is Robby's nightshift counterpart.
"You need this place as much as it needs you."

The Pitt season 2 and meaning in life
I've been reading and hearing a lot of discussions about how "many characters didn't have a good storyline during season 2 of the Pitt" and how things happening didn't have a reason or a meaningful conclusion. Then it kind of clicked for me.
To me, one of the major themes in the season 2 was finding reason outside of the ED and how everyone, most importantly Robby, deals with that.
Everything tied up in the last episode, especially in Robby's line, "the most important things I've ever done in my life have been in this hospital. Nothing will ever matter more than what I've done in this hospital, but it is killing me." because he didn't find a permanent thing outside of the hospital that mattered more than what happened inside. Like his life outside of the hospital didn't have a meaningful meaning to him.
I think part of why Robby struggles so much is that he found meaning in helping people, and still does, but healthcare being such a thankless occupation has slowly chipped away the meaning he found in it and thus meaning in his life.
Whitaker's storyline in season 2 was to show us the viewers how Robby was back in the day, and how unlike Robby Dennis, despite it not being the most conventional way, has already found a thing to have meaning in his life outside of the ED. Robby doesn't agree with that (as seen in trying to lure Dennis away from Amy and Theo and the farm), but I think that after seeing Dennis happy even after a long shift when he sees Amy and Theo, I think Robby starts to understand why Dennis does what he does.
And a lot of characters in season 2 are struggling with the same issue of trying to find meaningful bits and pieces in their lives outside of the hospital, Robby and Samira the most in my opinion.
"I know that life can be challenging especially it doesn't work out the way you expect it to. I thought I would be married with two kids in college by now. Maybe have some property with a pond we could play hockey on in the wintertime. And yet look at me now. No wife, no kids, no pond."
Because he does relate to Samira. Robby is trying to encourage Samira that she will find reason, despite actively trying to fight her current reason, that being her mother.
I could ramble on and on about this, but because this discussion also happened physically outside of the hospital, I think it should be included.
Robby's line "I'm not the one who spends his free time getting shot at" was an interesting take and left me thinking for a long time. Jack has already lost important parts of his meaning, his previous occupation and his wife, and has found another meaning in being a swat medic. Which in itself is a hazardous way to find meaning but also how differently Robby and Jack approach the thought of the danger.
Jack is nonchalant, wants to keep it off the books, but Robby sees it as an equal deathwish to his helmetless sabbatical journey. He's angry that the call for his behavior is coming from inside the house, at least to him.
The way Jack is looking at people who are saying their goodbyes to Robby because Jack himself isnât ready and doesnât want to do so
My take on The Pitt omegaverse headcanons
So, I'm not a very big a/b/o -enjoyer, but I'll read it from time to time because I enjoy the societal aspect of the AU. I've been around omegaverses enough to know my way around the house, I could say. Enough to have opinions that, in my humble and humorous opinion, are based as the youth says. That being said, I do love to speculate things! And I love The Pitt! And do things for shits and giggles.
I was working one day and began writing the head canons down the old school pen to paper-way and spent way too much time with that to not actually curse existence with them, so, bon appetit I guess?
Without further ado, my take on The Pitt omegaverse-headcanons and a couple of comments on why I think so !
(as a note, pack = ED staff and territory = ED as a space)
THE ATTENDINGS
Michael "Robby" Robinavitch - alpha
somewhat submissive, very little aggressive tendencies but will show aggression when challenged and/or frustrated
good pack-leader, most of the time very sensible and a caring alpha
protective of his pack (to a fault) and territory
doesn't mind other alphas, but doesn't really like other strong presences in his territory
easily challenges others, but usually in a non-aggressive way apart from few exceptions (krhm Langdon and Gloria...)
Baran Al-Hashimi - beta
values harmony, leadership by transformation and well being of the pack
isn't intimidated by alphas and doesn't rise up to challenge them if being challenged
some alphas (krhm Robby) question her authority but she's earned her position
strong presence, gets sometimes mistaken for an alpha?
doesn't hide being a beta, she's out, proud and advocates beta rights
Jack Abbot - omega
assertive, natural leader, protective of his pack, a bit territorial, but very caring, gentle (altho doesn't always show it in the best of ways) and empathetic, quite in touch with his emotions
dominating in a gentle way, tries to break conflict situations by dissolving them
gets mistaken for alpha (and beta) a lot due to learned and natural behavioral patterns
doesn't hide being an omega, but doesn't reveal it unless directly asked (probs due to don't ask don't tell-adjacent army history?), uses scent pads for convenience
(omega!Abbot is actually a hill I'm willing to die on)
John Shen - alpha
very unassuming alpha, laid back, doesn't even try to present as a traditional alpha and is ok with that
easygoing and laid back nature, but is very confident in himself and his abilities
doesn't need to assert dominance, because he's self-assured and comfortable, takes easily the lead when necessary
THE RESIDENTS
Heather Collins - alpha
more on the caring side of alpha's, sensitive and very little to none aggressive tendencies but will assert dominance
does maybe have minor biases towards other secondary genders and their authority?
Uses scent pads and schedules healthy cycle of ruts
Frank Langdon - beta
really wanted to be an alpha and has a lot of (learned?) alpha-like tendencies
jealousy-issue with alphas?
presents socially as alpha-like
probs wore/wears scent blockers as a teen/young adult to pass off as alpha
(another hill I'm willing to die on)
Samira Mohan - beta
quite classic beta
doesn't mind her status and gets along with everyone, but maybe prefers omegas in general?
very gentle, both her strength and weakness
very passionate about secondary genders and how they affect patient-care
(I'm 70-30 between beta and omega but she's more beta to me)
Parker Ellis - beta
alpha-like tendencies, takes easily the role of a leader if one isn't present
protective of her pack
just really there to mind her own business
sometimes gets mistaken for alpha?
Melissa King - omega
very unassuming and neutral for an omega
gets mistaken for beta a lot, most likely presents socially as a beta
has no interest towards secondary genders apart from clinical standpoint
takes suppressants and uses scent pads/blockers, not to hide her secondary gender per se, but for convenience reasons and simply because she just doesn't have interest in her own omega-status
Trinity Santos - omega
doesn't like being an omega, has a lot of internal issues about being one
wanted to be an alpha because they're taken more seriously
socially presents herself as a beta or an alpha, depending on the situation
assertive, a little aggressive, will rise up to alphas and even challenge them, protective of her pack (Dennis)
takes suppressants and used scent pads/blockers to hide secondary gender
likely grew up around alphas and picked up a lot of their traits?
Dennis Whitaker - alpha
gets mistaken for a beta most of the time, quite un-alpha-like
submissive but decisive, looks up to other alphas a lot, protective of his pack and as he's grown older he doesn't hesitate to take the leadership role
probably a late bloomer, like an alpha printer was running out of alpha-ink with him and his brothers and the ink was just enough to last for him but isn't as strong in him as in his elder brothers though?
(if based on season 1 alone, I would've said he's right between an omega and a very meek alpha, but season 2 changed my opinion)
(this is also a hill I'm willing to die on)
Cassie McKay - alpha
soft but stern alpha, corrects and leads others by example, takes the role easily
patient and kind but very protective of her pack
not afraid to challenge other alphas
wears scents pads and schedules ruts
THE STUDENTS + OTHERS
Victoria Javadi - omega
born into an all-alpha family
burdened by the feeling of trying to live up to her alpha parents' expectations?
quite a classic omega
maybe a late bloomer? or super early? either way, her parents had expectations
Joy Kwon - beta
doesn''t really care about her secondary gender
likes to fly under the radar and thus happy that she's a beta
James Ogilvie - omega
overcompensating for being an omega A LOT
wanted to prove everyone wrong that him being an omega doesn't effect his work / ability to work in ED
maybe internal issues with being an omega?
not in touch with his omega side bcs he's not in tune with his emotions
(could also be a beta? but in my mind he's more omega)
Yolanda Garcia - alpha
classic but not very territorial alpha
assertive and natural leader but prefers to act solo
hands-on leader alpha
probs wears scent pads to be professional but isn't bothered if other alphas don't wear one
Dana Evans - alpha
not afraid to challenge other alphas when necessary
always fighting for the good of her pack and territory
has become more dominant/aggressive with age, but for protective reasons
Emma Nolan - omega
textbook definition of classic, soft omega
nurturing and submissive
does not hide her status
probs grew around mostly other omegas, very comfortable with her secondary gender
Emery Walsh - alpha
quite assertive and dominant
challenges other alphas quite easily but has a lot of respect for them as well
steps up as a leader very naturally, eager to take responsibility
Brendon "Shark" Park - alpha
alpha in a traditional sense
assertive, dominant
uses his secondary gender but doesn't rely on it, has enough aura to be a notable presence in the room even without it
Jesse Van Horn - beta
some alpha-like tendencies
doesn't care too much of secondary genders but will rise up to alphas if others are feeling threatened by them
Donnie Donahue - beta
probs born into an alpha family
doesn't mind being beta too much, maybe in his youth he wished he was an alpha
more content with his secondary gender after having his kid
bonded with Langdon due to similar experiences with secondary gender
Perlah Alawi - alpha
soft but no-nonsense alpha
protective of her pack (Princess)
rarely feels the need to assert dominance but will do if necessary
socially presents more like a beta
Princess Dela Cruz - omega
out and proud omega!
very in tune with her secondary gender, doesn't hide it
likely the go-to omega of the ER when someone is having omega-issues
If anyone read until here, congratulations and thank you? And yes, I did leave some characters out because of them I don't have strong opinions (and honestly this became way too long anyways haha)
oh I genuinely just hurt myself by realizing this and as we say in Finland, laitetaan paha kiertÀmÀÀn,
HyvÀnpÀivÀntutut by Kuumaa is so rabbot coded
Iâve spent way too much time thinking the pitt a/b/o headcanons for a person whoâs not too much into a/b/o in general but who loves to speculate things, maybe Iâll compile everything into a somewhat coherent post one day
The pitt headcanons
I've seen these in tiktok but I'm too scared to post there so here are some stupid headcanons I have of some of the Pitt characters:
Robby is not nosy (according to himself) he just used to have one of âthose facesâ (big doe eyes and a cute smile) that made him seem trustworthy and he really enjoyed getting all the tea from everyone. Now that heâs a grown man and an attending ppl donât come to him the same way and he misses the gossip, so he must work more to obtain the info, thus making him seem nosy.
Shen used to DJ during his college days. A legend says he still does occasional sets in Pittsburgh's underground raves and Shen doesn't confirm or deny the allegations. His favorite genres are D&B (and hard techno)
Jack has/had a massive celebrity crush on a former Penguins goalie. Ellis teases him for "clearly having a type" for "doe-eyed white men"
Although he doesnât necessarily look like it, Dennis can bench the most weight (among the men of the Pitt), at least relative to his own body weight. Heâs not necessarily muscular but has high functional strength, however he doesnât think anything of it because he âjust grew up a farm boyâ
Emery Walsh came up with the nickname "Shark" for Brendon Park. During their M3 (Shark) and M4 (Walsh) rotations Shark mentioned to Walsh that he did competitive swimming until med school pretty successfully, to which Walsh commented smth along that confirming him being like a shark. He hated that but Walsh did not let the name go. The nickname "Park the Shark took" off among the hospital staff and eventually he just decided to own it
"I didn't think I'd need it for this"
âItâll survive without youâ
And the truth is, the ED will survive without him. But Robby has taken a hit after a hit after a hit for his department and the people in there. Covering up crimes, standing between management and his staff, losing his mentor. Taking the role of the chief after Adamson.
You do unbearable things for the people you care about because you know that if you donât, someone else is paying the price, and you donât want people you care about paying the price. And Robby cares so much about everyone itâs breaking him (and my heart)
And when Dana said the department runs without him just as it has ran without Adamson, I can see Robby second guessing if everything heâs done has been for vain.
A spark in the eyes is an expression for enthusiasm, passion, excitement and emotion, a commonly used metaphorical indication that a person is full of life
And then thereâs Robby, and not a single sparkle in his eyes
i have loved you since we were eighteen /rabbot fanvid x 18
They're on their way to Home Depot (Jack had to bribe them $50 each)
