☾ - sleep headcanon
Unfortunately for Katsuhira, sleep is not an easy thing for him. He often looks sleepy, with bags underneath his eyes from how he cannot fall asleep easily. He has a ritual to fall asleep, which takes nearly three hours to complete. It starts with him getting ready for bed, but he doesn’t immediately go to lay in bed. Try as he might, he cannot fall asleep even with the help of sleeping aids and natural remedies. He simply cannot fall asleep so easily, as often his dreams make him restless. He cannot remember his dreams, but he thinks they hold important facts about his past that he cannot remember.

6. Admiration
He admires anyone around him who is willing to take a moment and be kind to someone. If it weren’t for his inability to feel anything (cough cough) Katsuhira might’ve been an admirable person himself. Though as a child, he was one of the more popular children in the experiment, the very poster child of affection.
13. Pity
Katsuhira, for the most part, is just a shell of his former self. Or rather he was, at the start of the second Kiznaiver project, he began to feel more than just apathy. One of the things that, albeit reluctantly, he had started to feel pity. For those around him. More specifically, he pitied Noriko in a way. She seemed alone in life, just like him. His pity may have sparked his interest in her, wanting to include her in the new group, but that pity was short lived.
19. Courage
Courageous is a very funny word. His classmates and other strangers have known him as someone who feels no fear. He’s someone who can be bullied relentlessly, beaten until he’s bloody, or mugged and he still would not blink an eye. Even he believed that his courage was only the product of his inability to feel anything, but this is proven to be far from the truth. When his friends are in danger, he will do anything to help them. It even includes running out in the tropical storm to see if his friends are okay. (It also is shown when he stands up against Noriko, “I’m disappointed in you.”)

the situation laces itself with a thick, heavy irony: she’d come to make sure he’s alright, that he has what he needs, that he only moves forward in recovery, yet comfort seems to move in the other direction. he assures her, and that’s more than she can do for him. and part of her doubts it – how can she be sure of what he does without the telling signs of her senses and the sensibility of emotions. to live without them makes her blind as a bat in these moments, and even if it’s unlike her to cling and to linger, her lips pull into a small, fleeting, ghostly grin because she’s noticed that katsuhira, once again, does not understand her.
“i don’t fear death.” she tells him, lets her comment soak in the air before it grows too heavy and falls; her thoughts run rampant with the memories of her last two attempts at jumping to her death.
“do you remember them?” she adds after a pause. her eyes lift to match his own, but the meek grin is gone, twists into a frown instead. “asuka, shiori, pon-chan, yuki, tonko…”
Ever since he remembered, he hasn't forgotten. It's hard to forget, even if his memories were hazy, he could no longer forget the faces of their friends. The immense emotional pain that he had felt when he saw them standing there, doing nothing, feeling nothing. He felt a myriad of emotions when he thinks back to that time, however dull they were, it hurt. For the first time in a long time, he had felt guilty. He was guilty for being one of few to return to daily life, he had been lucky to even develop cognitive functions again after the project had went up in flames.
“I remember all of our friends.”
Strangely, his throat is tight, and he can't speak without his voice wavering. He wants to cry, he can feel the strangely familiar feeling bubbling in his chest. “I'm sorry.” he mutters, moving to brush his fingers across his eyes, wiping away at his dampened eyes.
@inariblessed
For a while, he had noticed her in the background. It may have just been a coincidence, that they were going in the same direction. The entire day. But he couldn't help but...
“Do you need something?” his voice, despite being monotone as ever, is actually edged with simple curiosity. It's still a new feeling for him, and it makes him feel odd.

“Excuse me. But you're in my way.”
He's a lot taller than him, and a lot more intimidating. Normally anyone would be hesitant to walk up to this man, but he had just done it. “Can you hurry up and decide what you want? I'm hungry.”
{ hey i was really hesitant to do this but if you’d like a mini starter from me you can fave this. i will cap it at 5 !! }

she knows that she’s being strict, perhaps excessively, and a part of her wishes she could be just like any other close friend, complete with visible empathy and emotion, with both the subtleties and the dramatics that come with normalcy. but she can’t be, not directly, at least. but she tries, can only hope that katsuhira sees this; hopes that he notices that, in her own way, she tries to be a good friend after everything she’s done to him, to their friends. her lips press into a thin line at the thought of the others, how she’ll never see them again, and it comes with a rush of pain, a tiny stream that stings and falls into the crevices of her bones.
perhaps that’s why she clears her throat and swallows her pride, moves slowly to stand close to him; her fingers curl into the furled edges of her sleeves. “i know i haven’t always done the right thing in the past but i need to take care of you. i have… i have only you, now.” this time, her voice is low, quiet, and her eyes have fled his gaze, look to less important things.
The fact that they both were all that they had in this world right now made the situation even more solemn. He himself felt vaguely lonely, wanting nothing but to go back to the town he'd grown up. Even if he was still lonely, it was way better than feeling like he was out of place in this situation. Come to think of it, before arriving here even Sonozaki hadn't been answering his e-mails, which wasn't too entirely out of character for her. It was just odd to see her seem so keen to care about him, even though he didn't need the care.
“I've been taking care of myself since I arrived here. But I know I can't stop you from taking care of me.” his gaze, however, went to her face. “So.. thanks, I guess.”
“Though I think... you can't really die here.”
Yes, it is a weird concept that even he can't grasp his thoughts around. In a world where it was soon to end, people could be revived even as their heart stopped beating? Katsuhira had only heard from around the town, making it confusing to him. “So you don't really have to worry about being alone again.”

“hypothermia can hardly be considered just a cold.” she replies, each word firm, her gaze somewhat softened; her eyebrows push together a moment after, weave together the slightest hint of emotion – a loose tremor of worry that trickles down from her thoughts. after all, he may not feel pain like the others do, but he isn’t invincible. the situation itself is strange with her here, with him there, and that odd stir of feeling inside of her chest, too small to recognize but strong enough to notice.
“you should lay down. i will get you soup and call someone to fix the door.” she adds while her fingers loosen, draw lazy lines down the side of his face; though her touch is like a breath, barely there, gone before it ever sets. “you aren’t immortal, katsuhira-kun.”
People don't normally dote on him like this, if that is what it could be called. Not even his other friends would break down a door to see if he was okay. He was okay, but her presence had only thrown him off slightly. Feeling something within his chest as she spoke, it almost hurt. As she scolded him for his actions, he winced. It was an odd sensation that caused him to take a sharp breath when she pulled away, almost wanting to feel the warmth her hands offered.
“I'm fine, Nori-chan.” He wants the pain in his chest to go away too, but the teen has a feeling it won't. His shoulders droop down even further as he turns to go sit back in his chair at the table. You aren’t immortal. Katsuhira grabs his chest softly, sighing. “I know.”

she lifts a brow at his comment while her eyes fall to the kicked door by her feet where, within its lines and the imprint of her shoe, she knows it could’ve been handled differently. she knows it’s a dramatic she’s delving into, an action thrust forward by that slow, seething sensation of worry. it’s a drive she isn’t comfortable with, but one she surrenders to in silence. as always, she ignores his remark and proceeds with her plan to assure herself that he’s alright – for her own sake, she tells herself, makes an effort to believe it, too.
“how do you feel now, katsuhira-kun?” her voice is smooth and neutral, a splash of grey sound in the air. a few wide steps bring her closer to him after she abandons her bag near the entrance; she doesn’t pause until they’re centimeters apart and her hand lifts to press her palm to his forehead. it’s her eyes, though, that hold the most direction, direct her gaze to his without a moment of hesitation.
Katsuhira backed up, but his back touched the table behind him, and he was stuck in between the table and Sonozaki. “Ah.” That was a funny question to ask, considering she knew well that it didn't really bother him. Not being able to breathe sometimes did, but he had been doing just fine. He stares down at her, trying to find the words. Even after all that's gone down, he's still intimidated by her. Her emotionless stare is cold, and she's harsher than even he is.
“It's just a cold, Nori-chan.” he states. Katsuhira hadn't been prepared for the cold weather the Cataclysm is under, and he got lost outside.

& ; the story begins – @kizunaix
her steps, as always, are a neat string of sounds that announce her presence down the hall, around the corner, and towards the room katsuhira’s supposed to be in. and even if her posture is precise and her features hardened, nothing matches the turmoil that lingers inside of her – a sharp sting stretches across her chest, steals her breath for a moment. the pain heightens the more she thinks that katsuhira, the boy she’s adored in different ways, nothing admitted, only felt, is falling under an illness.
she arrives at the door of his hotel room with fingers that fold, unfold, fall under a spell of hesitance before she sweeps it under a small wave of anger; they’ve been days apart, and the boy’s already gotten sick. it’s a sliver of power that she clings to, enough to push her from vaguely sentimental into a dominant, controlling territory. the rest is a familiar set of motions: she lifts her leg, kicks open the door, steps inside as the loud crash of the door against the floor fills the room. her eyes flit around and find katsuhira.
as always, her voice is as firm as it is calm, collected; a steady stream of water in the ruckus of action.
“one day without me and you’re sick already, katsuhira-kun.”
He had been minding his own business when suddenly his door was kicked down, and he would be lying if he said that it didn't effect him at all. Katsuhira actually jumped out of his chair, watching as a familiar body stepped into his room. When his vision clears, he's vaguely shocked to see who is standing there. He clears his throat, the headcold still forcing him to stay confined in his own room.
“Nori...chan.”
Almost robotically, he goes to play with a lock of his hair, racking his brain over the situation. So she was here too, it seemed. Though he didn't understand why she had to have broken down his door. “Knocking would have been nice you know...”
As cold as a statue ( Closed - Katshira Agata)
“There’s a lot of uncertainty about this strange place, so I guess I can’t help being a little unsure: it’s normal for people to feel that way if they dunno about something. I mean, not all emotions are good, but uncertainty makes you think things through better, so it’s not all bad, really…” A thoughtful musing regarding that matter, before he looked up at his new pal hopefully at that suggestion.
“Yeah…maybe they were invited here to help save the world too, considering we already saved our own world? That makes me feel a little better to think of it that way, thank you.” A little bow of the head in thanks, before he tapped his gloved hand to his chin again. “Oh! Maybe that means some of your friends are here too? I bet they’d be super happy to help you with bonds too if they are here, that’s a nice thought!”
It might not be 100 percent viable, true, but! It was good to have hope on things.
Katsuhira twirled a strand of his hair around his index finger, only stopping briefly to look at the other as he responded optimistically. It was commendable, and he would share the same sentiment if only he could express it. “Yes.. it would be nice to see the others. I wonder..” he said, voice trailing off into a hum. “Maybe.. the goal is to bring those with the will to save the world to this place..” Katsuhira muses.
If that were the reason, then he wondered why they offered him a chance.
“If the.. uh, Shepherds, were strong surely they'd need more people to come here. With lots of battle expertise.”
