Sometimes he thinks he would rather die. Ryder stares at the lesson in the textbook clearing his throat. He would rather feel the dementorâs kiss of death than to look at his patronus as it falls from the tip of his wand. He wishes there was a space to crawl into where he could practice it. Slowly develop a normal reaction for when his burden is cast. Alas, with lock down there isnât. The thought of seeing the corporeal St. Bernard sends his anxiety into overdrive. Maybe he doesnât have to look. Thereâs enough people around, surely if he messes it up someone will tell him something. One deep breath in his hand trembles against his wand as he flicks his wrist. âExpecto Patronumâ
Promptly he clamps his eyes shut unable to look. He whispers to another Gryffindor beside him. âMate is it still there?â Of course it was. The harmless dog of light wags its tail unbeknownst of Ryderâs phobia. He flicks his wrist again hoping he got rid of it. However, he cautiously opens one eye to find it still standing there blissfully oblivious. Ryder gulps down a shriek, and freezes paralyzed with fear. And thatâs where he waits until the light dispels and he can relax again. Content with the knowledge, there isnât a canine around him.Â
