Just because you CAN hyphenate the word there doesn’t mean that it’s a good idea (For the non-Germans: They’re talking about the Orkanlage (Orkan-Lage, windstorm situation) but thanks to hyphenating it as they did it reads like Ork-Anlage (orc facility) Fully fledged Orc facility: storm headed north… sounds legit

I'm not sure if many people will see this since I'm mostly inactive, but does anybody have tips for finding language partners in real life? I desperately need to practice my speaking in German, but don't know any native/fluent speakers (besides my teacher). Thanks!

Gestern hatte ich mein erstes Gespräch auf Deutsch mit eine Muttersprachlerin! Es war ein bisschen stressig aber ich könnte fast alles verstehen. Nächstes Mal das passiert, hoffentlich kann ich mehr bereit sein. Aber, gestern war gut, weil ich nicht gewusst, dass sie da sein würde.

People who are (or were) university students: Tag in which country your uni is and if you do anything after the lesson is over, like applaud etc. Because I go to uni in Austria and when the lesson is over we knock on the tables and my new Norwegian teacher always seems completely bewildered. Is that not a thing in other countries? Help me with my totally scientific research, thanks!
